The true sequel to the original game, imho. This was announced sometime last week and the hype is getting bigger by the day.

If you haven't seen the announcement trailer, here it is:

Here is a recent interview with Irrational Games Creative Director, Ken Levine:

WELL I HAVE HOPE THAT THEY WILL PUSH THE DATE UP. Also conveniently forgot the 2012 bit from wherever I read it.

Never played the first two games. I'm sure I'll youtube the walkthroughs whenever they exist. As for the trailer, tis interesting, as trailers generally are.

Well bioshock 2 was really well done so here's hoping they continue the trend :P
Although it looks like they just took rapture and put it in the sky because they couldn't think of anything better.

It would be really good if they had refference to the first two, mainly the character from the 1st bioshock somehow having something to do with this new "utopia" and then Eleanor being there with Fontaine or something :P

this one takes place in the early 1900s doesnt it? no way they can have same characters. Wouldnt want them to anyway. doesnt make any sort of sense storyline wise

Fuckery!

early 1900's means it would be in the 1900's
therefore 7 years after the fall of rapture Eleanor is no longer a teen but a young woman superpowered and pissed off.
Her taking down anything to do with the experiments with the little sisters would be a plausible plotline.
Since plasmids as shown in the video it's also viable the little sister programme is still being run up there...
Although i want to see what they bring in to fill the void of the big daddy's, most likely like adri said with steampunk like robots and flying shit to contend with.

Still a matter of years, hardly incomprehensible when your dealing with flying cities and mutated humans with telekenetic powers.

well, iirc the first bioshock takes place in 1959? thats a good 50 years before when this one takes place, and practically all the characters aside from andrew ryan, wouldnt be alive yet

I haven't played any bioshock games, but seeing that 10 minute demo, and doing research into the storyline of this and the other games, really shows how much effort has gone into the development. Its not something I'd buy, I'd rather watch it like a movie. Rich independent film makers, are you listening? =P

Video game taps into Occupy Wall Street

(Reuters) - When gamers take the wraps off the new "BioShock" video game next year, they should not be surprised if parts of the game remind them of the Occupy Wall Street protests.

Ken Levine, the creative director of the Boston-based development studio Irrational Games visited the protests in Boston this month to do research for the next game in the best-selling "BioShock" series, which will be out in 2012.

The game "BioShock Infinite," is set in 1912, in a floating U.S. city in the sky called Columbia, where two fictional political factions, the left-wing group called the Vox Populi and the right-wing Founders, are fighting.

"It's been fascinating to watch the conflict in the game, which is based on historical conflicts, sort of become reincarnated in our times," said Levine, who previewed parts of the game to media months before the Wall Street protests started.

Some of his inspiration comes from political groups such as the Baader-Meinhof gang, left-wing militants in Germany in the 1970s and 1980s, and the Know Nothings, an anti-immigration U.S. political faction in the mid-1800s.

But when the Occupy Wall Street protests broke out, Levine seized the chance to see a protest up close.

"It's one thing to read about these movements by reading history books but another thing to see one of these things happening in real time and go there and breathe it in," Levine said.

...

ngl, I am probably going to play the shit out of this game when it comes out
