Irrational has hired Russian cosplayer Anna Moleva as the official face of BioShock Infinite’s Elizabeth. In a blog post on Irrational’s official site, creative director Ken Levine explains that Moleva’s stunning Elizabeth cosplay inspired the team to bring her on to represent the character.


“We were so amazed by her dedication and her resemblance to Elizabeth that we decided to ask her if she’d like to be involved in helping bring Elizabeth to life in our box, our key art and our upcoming television ad,” Levine wrote. “Today we are very pleased and delighted to announce that Anna is the official face of Elizabeth!” In addition to appearing in promotional art and advertisements, Moleva will also make “special appearances at select events.”
“As soon as I saw her, I knew I HAD to do it,” Moleva said of her Elizabeth cosplay. “I love the first two parts of BioShock, so ever since Infinite was announced I followed the promotion campaign. Then when Liz’s appearance was finalized – and I saw what I think is a remarkable resemblance between us – I as a cosplayer couldn’t just ignore it. It was really hard, because cosplay isn’t just about recreating the appearance. It’s about acting, portraying the character as a whole. At the moment, we knew very little – almost nothing – about her as a character (in fact, we don’t know much now, either). So I’m really glad that everything worked out for me.”

She just cosplayed as the character and they gave her a job

Only at the Soldier's area at the moment, but I am quite enjoying the game, after getting the interface set up to my liking. I wish the city was a bit more open exploration, but I understand the gigantic hassle actually setting up such a world would be.

I wouldn't even say outraged. By embracing the depiction of the racist beliefs of those times it only mocks them because of how absurd it makes them look.

It's set in 1912, which was a racist time, so there is racism.

I think it's better to show it and risk pissing people off rather than make everyone in the game white and ignore the issue entirely.

it's like they don't realize historically accurate depictions of racism/classism =\= glorifying racism/classism. shit, the game purposely prevents you from killing anyone until something particularly disgusting happens when you're like, "oh, so that's how it is. no remorse about killing any of you, then."

You saw it too? People are seriously raging about it, and it's kind of mind boggling. I saw one person arguing that because Bioshock never directly says "Racism is bad" it doesn't count, but no one really says "killing children for super powers" is bad or "the idea that splicing is a moral imperative" is a twisted idea. Because it's obvious and we don't need handholding?

But I guess we do now? I kinda want to join in the fight but I know I'll probably be spoiled if I stay too long.

Most of the "moral outrage of this blatant racist game" are the earlier comments though, the latter tends to be people who get the point.

This. I hear so many people saying the game is overly excessive and makes them uncomfortable and it's uncalled for. I think they way it's portrayed is excellent. It's SUPPOSED to make you uncomfortable, you are not supposed to like it. And during that first part of the game where it shows that interracial couple? You save them and you see them happy together later on. But people totally ignore that because omg SOCIAL JUSTICE. WE MUST RIGHT THE WRONGS OF THIS HORRIBLE GAME.

I could resist no longer, the game has been purchased on Amazon for the xbox, luckily my little brother and I will split the cost. I'm very excited about playing it.
