To answer the original question, I'd prefer to keep Cait Sith for the end, considering (if it is the case) that he has been with the party the whole time.
I'd much rather the ending, if it is to be anything similar to the original, have Yuffie and Vincent on the airship with the rest. It's a convenient reason for the sake of the compilation to say they were aiding in the
, because the original game wasn't going to have incorporated two hidden characters into the final FMV (that would require four different endings - with both, with none, with one, with the other) - whether or not that's the main reason, they just aren't there regardless, so let 'em stay on for the remake (assuming the ending is similar).
Kinda funny when you think about it: "We'll drop Yuffie and Vincent off at Midgar. The rest of us will stay up here in the airship and watch."

He could have theoretically given life to Aerith. Well, at least to her body. Imagine that; puppet Aerith walking around speaking an irish accent.
I think we just found the explanation for all the inconsistencies with Midgar. The reason that the parts of Midgar destroyed in AC are whole again in DoC is because, well, Reeve told the city to repair itself. Glad we got that sorted out!If Reeve has this power, why didn't he use it all the time for his job? Urban development, hmm. He could bring cranes to life and they could build flawless infrastructure. ... He could bring the roads to life so they could give him weekly status reports on traffic.

(I can't imagine "evacuation" was the developers' reasoning at the time - I can't say it wasn't, but I wouldn't bet money it was)

From the Ultimania: “After having defeated Sephiroth with their companions, while waiting for the Planet’s Judgment, Vincent and Yuffie left the company [i.e. of Cloud and the others] to make an effort to rescue the people of Midgar.” - Then I'm just gonna say the rest weren't arsed
