I managed to finally buy this game a while back on steam and will try to finish it (instead of just watching a bunch of playthroughs )

Sorry, I'm the resident anti-grind advocate around here. But there are only a handful of difficult bosses in the game and if just play normally without running from battles then you'll be able to handle them. Have fun. And welcome-ish!

To be fair, the only time I ever spent grinding on FFVII was to beat

Spoiler: a particularly annoying boss which wasn't essential to the game's progression

the bastard thing in the safe in the Nibelheim Mansion, and it was purely out of curiosity since I had no idea Vincent was a party character at that time

. Otherwise, I concur.
