Case of Shinra Preview

I've ordered a new mic to finish off the narration, and upgraded to a solid state drive to make the mixing process easier. I'll have loads of time to concentrate on it pretty soon.

I had someone package Case of Tifa years ago to hand out at a convention years ago. The problem with putting them on CDs is if they go over the 60 min mark... think cds might be 70 mins, not sure. In that case, I could do a new mix with an edit point to split it into 2 disks. And I can sort out images to use for CD overlay thingies

Sounds good Pixel, I will be waiting with anticipation =)

Yeah, CDs come in different sizes available for recording. I think many CDs nowadays are of the 700Mb standard, which typically can hold up to 80min of recorded audio. So far all of the audiobooks released are below 80min and should be able to work. Previously tested The Maiden Who Travels the Planet and all seems fine.

Im not sure how you make cd overlay thingies. Im guessing you just need a square image, and the software does the rest.

Here's a preview of the CDs. Is that the kind of thing you want?

This is an awesome update! First let me say that the artwork for Case of Shinra really seems fitting and I have to agree that I like the collaboration you have had on that one =)

The CD overlays are pretty much as I visualized them. Recently bought Uni-keep cases from a kind librarian that will suit the audiobook compilation. Wow, I did not expect The Case of Shinra to end up being over 2h! But the more the better =)

Also agreeing with S and G, that it would be good to split the audio-book in parts as you see fit, most standard CDs today holds up to 80min of material. If you have the time and will for it I would not mind seeing the original cover art from each of the audio books without the titles and stamps added. Will continue to wait for an ambitious and longer than anticipated audiobook. Christmas is coming! ^^

EDIT: I know that it has been discussed previously about uploading the audiobooks to youtube. Youtube seems to have lifted the restrictional upload limit of 15min. In case your channel is still facing these restrictions it can easily be remedied by going to YouTube settings --> View additional settings --> Longer videos

Very awesome. Are you planning to wait until they have all been released before making them available for download?

Yeah, Im actually going to keep the vid unlisted. I noticed a few things I can fix. And i need to figure out why youtube has stretched the image like that.

Im not really sure about this mic. It seems a bit bass-y :/

I listened to it in a cafe rather than on my iPod as I usually do so didn't pick up on any minor sound issues. I promoted the image on my page last night and got a bit of attention but I wasn't sure if you wanted me to wait before sharing the link to the vid. What do you reckon?

I listened to it this morning with regular phones and in the evening with Sony pulse headset. I think that the narration is clear all the way and can not say that I notice that bass effect you mentioned. However there are passages where the narration partly tends to lose itself in the audio ambience. One such example is the helicopter at 27:10-28:00. Good work so far! =)

Bleh I wish I had done my own translation of this before giving actors the lines. Especially Reno and Rude. Ive had to cut bits of conversation out here and there, because the old Reno lines dont fit with the new Rude translation, and I can't get Reno's VA back. Same problem with Rufus. His lines are all from Xcomps, which was ok, but there are errors all over the place.

How troublesome, considering how people tend to be more busy closer to christmas. Knowing how much time and effort you put into this and being a perfectionist myself, I would rather see it finished the way it was intended. The production might get prolonged, but regardless it will be worth the extra effort =)
