A show on NPR (Radio Times?) had a short verbal blurb about Watchmen today; the creator/main author doesn't want to have anything to do with the movie. I believe the stated reason was due to fears of the work being ruined. His royalties are actually going to one of the illustrators, actually. Basically, the blurb said read the book. :P Though, nothing really bad was said about the movie; fans will likely see it just because they are fans.

I'm thinking about it; possibly I'll pick up the book to see what it's about. It sounds interesting. :)

Yeah, this weekend is pretty low key for myself as well. I do have some things to do, but nothing that will take me out of the home. Though, I do have to watch my grandmother on Sunday. I need to clean my room (as always), do some paperwork, create the budget for the month - nothing new. The one thing I really wish to get done is a deviantArt group that I became owner/moderator of. It needs some good TLC. For that matter, another group I started needs that as well...

Arianna, I really dont get why fans get so tense about comic/games being turned into live action movies and then automatically assuming they'll be horrid and untrue to the original work. I am aware that people have theire preferences and whatnot but it just feels like it gets slightly ridiculous at times. I see that the creator seems to not be interested in an adaption but i find that the adaptions seem to get hated on alot at first. For example, when Michael Bay started workin on Transformers, he got TONS upon TONS of hatemail every single day, because many fans assumed it would be adapted horribly. After the movie came out, the opposite happened and he started getting nicemail from the fans cuz they ended up loving it LOL! See my point? I mean, I understand if a certain game/comic/story is favored very much by fans but adaptions are not ever going to be exactly the same as the original. I'm not trying to accuse anyone of anything, I'm just making a point. There's just alot of factors that often inhibit making it exactly the same, like budget and time-scale of the movie. Ive come across this lately tbh, which is why I was just saying. tl;dr LOL XD.

I'm just reporting what I heard, regarding Watchmen; and, please remember, I said that nothing stated was negative - just the woman being interviewed felt the book was the way to go, first. Anyhow, I agree with you, that I don't see what the big fuss about remakes and putting something in a fashion that it was never done so before. It's new, and the unknown frightens people. Will it be as good as the book? What I consider important as a reader, will that be considered important to the person(s) making the movie? A lot of questions come up.

I've heard a lot of negative things about books being made into movies practically all my life. For instance, The Neverending Story - I heard the author of the book hated the movie. I personally loved the movie (not including the second and third installations of said movie), but then again - I have yet to read the book. I'll agree that the book is usually always the better route to go with the story...

Since you brought it up, with Transformers - I liked the action, and the handling of the robots was excellent. I think the plot needed some fleshing out and some loop holes (at least one big one, in my opinion) needed to be reworked and closed. Did I like the movie - yes; but, my like for it was mainly because it was action packed and kept me on the edge of my seat. Plot wise, it needed some help. Also, to me, nothing will ever beat G1 Transformers - or the Japanese versions of G1. I for one did not like Beast Wars, though could stand Beast Machines; anything after Beast Machines is a waste in my opinion. Though, I will reserve some kinder comment for the new Transformers Animated...

Long live Vector Sigma and Alpha Trion! :P

Movies also have a time limit. Gone With the Wind was about six hours long. Give or take, and my estimation comes 'with commercial interruptions.' :P I don't know if many today could sit through such a long movie. The book is a humungous volume. I still need to read it; but, it's no wonder the movie was so long. I believe there are still a lot of important parts left out in the movie. I heard some things, but won't know if they are justified remarks until I read it myself. Movies just can't go on forever - books can (to a degree)...

I see what you mean XD. I know you were just reporting I'm just taking what I know so far. I LOVED Transformers! I became a fan after it and I also LOVED Iron Man ^^. AC is my top favorite movie ever (along with Transformers, Iron Man, Crash and Mario Bros). What are your faves Arianna?

Honestly it sounds like they've gone to pretty large extents to keep the film as faithful as possible; in fact the studio complained that they were being too obsessively faithful to the source material. That said one detail about the end is changed, but the effect is pretty similar.

I havent read the book but the movie seems like it will be really good. Then again, I'm usually easy to please XD. Eiher way, I'll probably like it and it IS nice they're putting so much work into it ^_^.

My favorite movies? I have a lot! ;D

Bear with me...

My Little Pony: The Movie (animated movie)
Transformers
Transformers: The Movie (animated movie)
Madagascar (I liked the first one better than its sequel)
Scary Movie 3 (the third one is the best, in my opinion)
Harry Potter (all of them have been good so far)
Ah! My Goddess: The Movie (animated movie)
Black Beauty (latest retelling is excellent!)
Anna and the King (the latest non-animated retelling of The King and I - not sure about the title)
The Gods Must Be Crazy (I and II - excellent!)
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
The Exorcist (believe it or not, even though I hate horror)
George of the Jungle
The Last Unicorn (animated)
The Neverending Story (first one only)
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (first one, not Johnny Dep's...)
Ernest Goes to... (most of the Ernest movies)
National Lampoon's Vacation (all of them, not so much Las Vegas)
Airplane (I and II - "To the tower? Rupunzel! Rrrupunzel!")
Shrek (all of them, but not so much the third one)

A lot of movies; yes, mainly comedy and/or 'children's' movies. :P

Not much. Just enjoying my cup of coffee and megaman music before going to the university. Will probably focus entirely on physics today as well.

It's like sausages, bacon, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, fried egg and toast. Except I have meat free bacon and sausages instead. Mmmmmm =)
So what do you have?

Umm, a two-layered sandwhich with ham. Then occassionally either cornflakes/müsli/oatmeal on the side. Simple really.
Used to be more strict with oatmeal and such, but I can't bother to do the necessary dishes most of the time.

Oatmeal is porridge yes? I like it with syrup on but haven't had it in ages. Try to be a bit healthy thinking now and again but tend to slip up sometimes lol.
It's morning there? It's 11:11 here. :monster: I want to eat something.
Hiya B :monster: it's about 7ish here and I'm just starting work. What you up to?

Just remembered there is yet another PSP game I want (if I ever get a PSP). 'Mega Man Maverick Hunter X', the remake of Mega Man X for the SNES. The original is on my top list of favorite games. Despite playing it to insanity I never get tired of it. The remake is supposed to be really good too.

Too bad they never remade the sequels. Such a waste of potential, kind of like the series in overall.

Hmm, so which games do I want for the PSP?
1) Mega Man Maverick Hunter X
2) Crisis Core
3) Dissidia
4) Final Fantasy I
5) Birth By Sleep (maybe)
I'm probably forgetting something...

Haven't had this good a reason to get a gaming device since ten years back I believe.
