Math is too boring...two plus two is four. Why should I care that it's four? How did they come to that conclusion, etc?

Lit and history are far superior, imho. Books <3

Those are just my favorite favorites. I also enjoy politics, economics (macro!), and assorted forms of programming. And psychology, of course :monster:

I always preferred world history to US/local history. More interesting to me.

Damn, I miss school =/

Politics. My sister wants to be a politician. And assorted forms of programming? What do you mean by that?

Of course you'd like psychology. :monster:

And I prefer US history too. :3

I remember as a kid, that one of the cafeteria ladies always greeted me with "There's my politician!" when I came through the line :monster:

Computer science. I'm so rusty I might as well not even bother. I miss my C++ =(

Of course :monster:

US history is OK. European was more enjoyable for me. And most especially Japan.

Oh wow. So you must be into politics that much. :monster: And cafeteria food taste's awful. :monster:

Computer science? Why that?

And European, where all the kings are beheaded... sure. :monster: Studying US wars are interesting.

yes, I'm a pessimist :monster:

No, I was literally a child. Like, second grade :monster:

Eh, had to take it to graduate. Then I found out I loved it =/

Nothing more entertaining than seeing a beheading. It's the social event of the year :monster:

I'm not sure what I am in terms of mindset. 8( I always change moods and ideals to fit the situation.

orly? I would expect him to be kill by demons. :monster:

Re other discussions, the study of politics is awesome, the actual state of politics not so much.

Agreed. I hate going to work, since the break room is always on Fox News and it's all Obama-bashing. Never ANYTHING else that's also newsworthy. Nobody bothers to get anything done anymore...it's all just hatemongering. Sigh.

Mm, I agree. Being negative is always the better route to take...

Being positive just ends up having you disappointed once again.

I hate to say it, but I do tend to agree. I'm trying very hard to break away from thinking like that, though. You know what they say about old habits, though :monster:

What better reason to celebrate? :monster:

Being pessimistic isn't necessarily a bad thing either. It helps you feel less. :monster:

Yeah...but there have been times when it's kept me from enjoying the things that have come into my life. "Hope for the best, but expect the worst", as I always say.

Oyeah. That. I'M SO THERE :monster:

I dunno. I'd rather not be disappointed at all rather than enjoy.

And YEAH we'll have ourselves a PARTY. :monster:

lol Faux News. You can't find another job I take it? I can't remember where you work either.

Pretty much. It is impossible for an optimist to be pleasantly surprised. :monster:

And plus, if you're negative, if something really happy happens to you, think of how happy you'll be. While being positive... you just stay happy. :monster:

But how will you ever be happy that way? =/

Can still we behead her afterward, for old time's sake? :monster:

I could...just don't want to. Good pay, benefits, and it's easy as hell :monster:

I work for Brink's, btw.

Hmm...your point is well seen. I often think to myself that being right all the time is actually a bad thing, since I fully expect the worst to happen.

Overall, I'm very much a pessimist. I'm just trying to find some kind of happiness from life. I'm tired of being alone because I don't let people in (they'll just hurt me, right?). I'm tired of bad things happening to me. So I'm giving a slightly more positive attitude a try.

Let's be real, though - it's not like it's gonna work :monster:

On the other hand...I'd like to believe that the constant deluge of crappy stuff happening in people's lives will help them recognize and value the good times.

"Your joy is your sorrow unmasked.

And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears.

And how else can it be?

The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.

Is not the cup that holds your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter's oven?

And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives?

When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy.

When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.

Some of you say, 'Joy is greater than sorrow,' and others say, 'Nay, sorrow is the greater.'

But I say unto you, they are inseperable.

Together they come, and when one sits alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed."
