What's wrong with someone texting at the checkout counter?

How the hell does someone manage to send out three hundred thousand texts per month? Though the phone company are still shitheads for charging him; unlimited should mean unlimited regardless of how much it's abused

whats wrong with it is that its rude. You try to talk and they are sitting there texting, not even talking at you, if paying attention at all.

I actually don't mind texting for long periods of time, as long as it's something worth while, lol. I hate one word responses like "lol" and "yeah". Or the one that really gets me,
"Hey".
Say something more than that, please! I might like texting though, because I'm fast at it. xD Sometimes there are times when you just don't feel like talking on the phone, so it really helps with that.

That reminds me! Does anyone get annoyed when people text you saying things like,
"Are you there?"
"Are you there yet?"
"When are you going to answer?"
"Hello?"
I'm obviously busy! XD

Texting's definitely better than dealing with long-distance phone bills. I don't really mind doing it all that much, because I'm fast at it, but a lot of the quirks associated with texting irk me to no end. Especially 'txt spk.' And yeah, people can be damn annoying with it.

No, I'm not talking about texting while you're communicating with someone, that is rude. But I don't find it rude to be texting at a check out counter.

I don't mind txt speak as long as it's decipherable - and on a phone. If it's txt speak somewhere like here, or an e-mail, that just gets me irked.

The only way I can find txt spk excusable is if the person using it actually gets charged per byte sent. Otherwise it's just execrable.

We don't call here anymore, BTW. Mostly texting. So the language is pretty much decreasing to txt spk. I hate it when my friends text me that way. DDDX

I don't trust Wiki - general news sites are good. And stumbling for news is actually pretty entertaining. :monster: I'm not sure where I got it, I think it was wired online?
