Chronology of the Last Era: A little game I've been working on.

When I joined the Navy I started dabbling in game creation software as a way to pass time. Eventually I started cooking up an actual game. I had fun messing around and sampling and editing graphics, but I hope the plotline and the gameplay is what eventually cements it. Hopefully I'll finish it this year.

Please, by all means, check it out, subscribe/follow if you're interested, and so on!

I like writing Bestiary entries too. They're a lot of fun. Make sure you check out and follow the Twitter and Tumblr if you think any of this is cool.

I love bestiaries with flavor. One of my favorite parts of Final Fantasy XII (and I was amazed to learn the Japanese version lacked it entirely).

Well, maybe "lacked entirely" is a strong phrase. But apparently it didn't have any of the personality or, well, flavor.

...getting through the remaining 91% of the text was a real challenge, especially for just two people. We probably made it harder for ourselves by doing things like the Victorian-era characterization on the bestiary text (which reads like a dry high school Biology textbook in Japanese), but you do what you need to (A) get the project where it needs to go, and (B) maintain sanity!

Huh. That's interesting; stuff like that gave the game a LOT more flavor. I'm glad they added that in.

I wonder: why do these giant AAA budget games only have one or two translators working on them? The role can't be that expensive for them to not have a small team.
