Cloud and Sephiroth's In-Battle Dialogue

Major thanks to the fans at The Japanese Dissidia Wiki for transcribing the lines. That's how I was able to translate the majority of the lines. A few are still missing for Sephiroth, but this is still a nice collection and full of references to not only FF7 but AC and CC as well. Any referenced lines are marked with an asterisk, ones loosely based on lines are marked with a tilde. I ordered everything based on the game's official Theater list.

I love how Cloud knows Shantotto is just deceptively cute.

They do have some hilarious and amusing lines toward both sides... I especially like the references. Thanks Schala, I really wanted to know what they were saying in the gameplay!

I'm pretty sure the line Cloud says to Firion is a reference to Zack. Zack and Firion's attitude towards following their dreams and never giving up mirror each other rather well.

Another line I like is Cloud's line to Ultimecia. "Leave my memories alone." As if he knows Ultimecia is gonna take a peek inside his head and manifest a big giant Fenrir to fight him

As for the Zack = Firion reference... yeah, I thought about it as well. It's nice how they put quite a lot of Zacky lines in there, especially the ''I'm your living legacy''... *sniff* brings a tear to an eye.

Ah, thanks Hitoshura for the missing ones. I think I was just distracted by Morikawa's voice.....

And I have to be thorough Mako! Especially since some of those lines were pulled from odd places... but that seems like half the fun.

Also... Kefka certainly has fun ways of answering or taunting in his own right, including saying to Tidus.... "May I play with your balls?" (You have no idea how I face-palmed after seeing that someone made that stupid joke)

If anyone did, It'd be Kefka. So, yet again, we get Cloud making Zack out to be important, and him comparing Firi to Zack.

I'd also say his lines to Mateus and Exdeath a loosely based lines as well.

I do like what he says to Cecil, though he's just as guilty of overthinking as Cecil.

Cloud's 'you remind me of a friend' is very interesting. Since I know nothing about Firion, I can't make any speculations.

What do you mean the original context, Schala? Can you explain what Sephiroth's talking about here? I want in on the laughs! ;D

Sephiroth asks "Why did it break?" in CC when he's examining the Nibelheim Reactor and notices one of the valves are broken.

It's really strange...I get where the line is coming from but..why did they include that as a defeat quote? XD

Is it a reference to his mind breaking or...?

I've been thinking about it since I was last on, and perhaps it is akin to someone asking why something happened because that's where all went wrong. It does seem that Sephiroth held himself together at least remotely well until Nibelheim. So, I agree with MakoEyes thinking, perhaps if it wasn't for the damage at Nibelheim...

He says it in FF7 too, that's actually what I thought first, I forgot he also says it in CC.
Speaking of FF7 references, I love that Cloud mentions Barret's mantra when he loses, very very cool.

Those are really cool, thanks Schala. I really love how the poke fun at each other. All the other villains seem to recognize Jecht as a little out of place, and how everyone finds Kefka to be annoying, lol.

Some of my favorites that haven't been mentioned yet:
Jecht vs. Zidane: "Is that a tail"
Zidane vs. Cloud: "Wouldn’t you be more popular if you were just more cheerful?"
Zidane vs. Squall: "If I win I get you're weapon!"
Kuja vs. Ultimecia: "Shut up you old woman."
Cloud vs. Kefka: "No one understands a word you say."
Kefka vs. Kefka: "Let's go, you lady killer." lol, why does he say that to himself?

It's good to see that even though Square gave this a storyline they're still having some fun with all these characters being in one place.

Couple of typos - Garland calls CoD a 'beat' instead of beast

Firi says to Tidus 'Your weapon his your cheerfulness'

That aside, a lot of these quotes are quite interesting.

I'm quite intrigued that Mateus wants Cecil on their side, and that he sees a shadow clinging to Cloud.

Onion's comment to Firi is apt, but I'm REALLY intrigued by his comment to Cecil that their powers are alike. Power of the light, I'd guess. That or the change up to suit the moment. Either or.
Oh hell, his comment to Golbez is just golden.

I like Cecil's comments to Firi and Cloud, underscoring that a big part of their story is about how Cecil and Cloud still don't quite have a defined goal. His line to Mateus is an interesting nod to Cagnazzo's deception and rule as King of Baron. His line to CoD is interesting, but I guess is supposed to how the Dark Warriors kicked her keister the last time and he's a Dark Knight.
Holy hell, he PITIES Sephiroth. I knew Cecil was kickass on a stick, and that just proves it.
Golby's line to Kuja is quite apt, I think, regarding the jealousy of both towards their younger siblings.

Butz is just comedy gold, especially his Firi and Onion comments. His Cecil comment is interesting, but I presume it's a reference to something that happens in story, or is it just to his class changing nature?

Seems like Tina pities Sephy too. Come to think of it, Cecil, Golby, Tina, Sephy are all mixed breeds (Sephy of a sort), and there's a bit of commiseration from all the rest towards Sephy.

Kefka's line about protozoa- Protozoa are some of the first forms of life, very simple organisms. It's a dig and a pun on Garland being the first and simplest villians at the same time. Not a GOOD one, but there it is.
His line to Mateus is quite the reference.
And Kefka calls himself a ladykiller because he's an egomaniac and narcissist.

Sephy's line to Shantotto is deliciously ironic.
I also quite like stealing Cloud's line for Ulti's sephy line.

Zid's line to Shantotto is mildly squick inducing...

Tidus's Firi line sounds ever so mildly gay. I note they stole Tifa's line for his line to Cloud (I presume it was Zuru Zuru in the japanese as well?)

I like Jecht's comment to Golby- both were manipulated, now both are technically good guys in dissidia, despite them being 'darkness'

Gabranth's comment about Cecil embracing the darkness I think has a double meaning, both in how he uses both Dark Knight and Paladin powers in Dissidia, but also in how he accepts Golbez as his brother despite his working for the darkness for so long.

Quite interesting, for the most part.
