Awrite ladies and gentlemen, it's time to re-enter the world of Final Fantasy VII.​

But before I do I thought I'd let you guys decide if I should do anything with this play through like, Buster sword only, Ice/Lightning only...use some mods for the music,graphics ?

I am playing through Steam so I'll need help with the latter.

I'm pretty pumped so with all that being said I'll wait til later on for you guys to put some suggestions forward before I throw myself into it but yeah,

I might just do a plane Jane run but I am interested in upgrading the sounds/graphics.

I am trying to recall things from the game but I can't, I can only remember major themes...but not a lot of the finer details.

Don't worry Octo,

I'll be sure to belt out the opening tune theme when I start it up, I'll have you guys in mind.

Even after all this time and way into my adulthood. I have on occasion caught myself humming Tifa's tune when bored at work or stuck at traffic lights.

Or like when I used to snoop around on the night shift as a night porter at a hotel and getting up to all sorts of carry on I'd have Cait Siths tunes in the back of my mind.

I would say try the mods. I`m currently playing through again with mods (tifas bootleg in my case) and short of a remake, it`s pretty amazing to play. Bit tricky to get it all set up but worth it, the models look great and you can customize the music with some mods too.

I've downloaded the game and I've done all of today's business so that means I am ready to re-enter the world of FF7 at 6 pm.

I have decided just to do a vanilla run as I want to try and recapture the magic from first time around.

Wish me luck and I'll be sure to update my progress as I go....

What an intro, it's like 1997 all over again! :headbang:

Just about cried when I seen the flower girls beautiful face on the screen... I thought that particular wound had healed but.... a little bit of me died when I looked into her eyes.

Anyways, I get off the train and lay into a couple of MP's. Having me out numbered 2-1 and despite being armed with machine guns, they missed me at what, 10 yards away ? took care of those jabroni's pretty swiftly! I joined cloud in with my first victory celebration...

I meet up with the gang and we get talking, it's then I realize that idolizing Cloud in my youth might explain the grief and '' talks '' I got from headteachers and parents. When looking at him now at the age of 30, I can see why I appeared to be a bit of a dick... with '' That's not my problem '' or not giving a damn about anyones name...

So the camera dips and brings Shinra HQ into shot.

The shiver goes up my spine.

So I grind a little before heading into the reactor, after a few corpses later and some god awful marksmanship I leveled up to level 9.

So I gets down to the reactor and get some pep talk from Barret who for some reason has more dexterity than me...I mean no disrespect to the man but dexterity isn't the first thing that comes to mind when you first see barret.

I swag some materia and set the bomb and along comes that big robotic scorpion...

I hit it hard and fast and after a Braver and a few lightning bolts directed up its arse, Barret finished it off with a Big Shot.

Then alluvasudden we got jumped by a loada minimum wagers , so we cleaned house and got the hell outta there!

After shit hits the fan and reactor 1 gets leveled. Everyone splits and I end up getting jumped by more kiddy-on security guards. I decide to take them all on then jump onto the roof of the slowest moving train in history.

whilst on the train, Jessie informs me that the computer screen is displaying a model of the whole of Midgar and that we had just blown up reactor 1...just incase I was wondering what the big #1 written across it meant... She then informs that the reactors go from 1,2,3 '' all the way up to 8 '' didn't think the gap between 3 and 8 was that big of a jump but then I remembered she's the same girl who tripped over her own shoe laces twice in one mission.

Anyways after Barret walks into a bar and starts discharging a fire arm in a public place I enter the bar and get talking to Tifa.

After I step on Barrets ego with my '' Soldier '' comment I get signed up for another job. Tifa decides she's coming and leaves Marlene to look after a pub on her own.... doesn't look like the kinda place that bothers with child care so I let it slip.

I went to the weapon shop and bought some Fire materia.

Nothing has changed equipment wise other than Barret getting a gatlin gun dropped by the scorpion...

So,

Cloud is up top with Bolt and Ice, Barret is on the back line with Cure+All and Tifa is bottom with Fire. Cloud is one smart arse remark away from triggering his limit break.

I've saved it there and will continue later after dinner.

I've enjoyed casting,hacking,bravering my way through memory lane thus far!

ps, Music isn't as bad as I thought it would be and the graphics are ok. The backdrop is still gorgeous though. Very moody and blade runner like.

So after finding out that the second mission was a total stitch up by Shinra Inc. I got the pleasure of having the company of Robo guard, from Shinra's Weapons Development Department. Took care of him fairly easily but due to an explosion I fell from a great height and landed in a church.

I would like to point out that the '' Voices '' become worse after that fall... and to be honest, he's lucky to escape with just voices...

I managed to get Aerith out of there and together we made our way to sector 7...After a few scuffles and exp's later we took refuge at an old play park... Aerith and I just sat down for a while and spoke about this n that... my time in soldier and her love life... it was a brief and welcomed break from the burdens of Midgar.

Anyways we had to somehow get to Tifa who was being held at the local pimp masters mansion... I had to dress up as a women and frankly, although it made for a different '' experience '' I picked the Soft silk....Although I spent the next 15 minutes running around with a silky wedgey...

Long story short, I slaughtered Scotch and his lackies whilst Aerith threw Kotch down a flight of stairs and broke his neck by the looks of it.

After a brief discussion with the fat pimp in his sh@g pad. We got dropped into the sewers where we fought APS.

Aps was no match for Team Avalanche + Random Flower girl.

However, RE discussion with the Don, Sector 7 is about to get the works, from the Turks. So I have to hurry back!

Cloud is now at Limit Beam Blade and Aerith has Seal Evil whilst Tifa is still rocking the leather gloves and Beat Rush.

Materia wise Cloud has BOLT ICE + Cover. Aerith has Cure All. Tifa has Fire and Steal.

We're still carrying our original weapons which will probably stay that way til we get out of Midgar.

I grinded with Cloud on the rare occasions he was aloud to on his own. He's now at level 15 when the other two are lvl 10 & 12.

I am going to continue some more tonight...

But for now,

I gotta get to sector 7 :aah:

What I want to know is, how long did Rufus hold on for until he told the chopper to set down? That has got to hurt your arms. Or maybe they just waited for Cloud and Co to fuck off before landing again :lol:

Just a quick update as I've work to do plus this is more of a review than an update.

I've enjoyed my trip down memory lane thus far but I have outgrown most my enemies. Infact I only became reengaged to the battles after I meet Hojo and the building becomes swarmed by 3rd class Soldiers. The first time in the game that I have been threatened with a challenge.. They are fast, constant and have better magic than me, plus they usually attack in threes so it's gotten hairy a few times.

It's because of this reason I decided to hang around and clock about 50 battles with 3rd class soldiers as they can hold their own and make the experience enjoyable... Unfortunately not even Reno could offer a decent fight.

However, just as the 3rd class soldiers look like they are about to cause my party a problem, they run out of MP. Always without exception. They are very effective when they send my party to sleep and hit me with ice 2 and bolt2. I suffer a lot of damage but just as they are about to go in for the kill they run out of steam and I wake up with a full limit bar.

It was a good way to get everyones limit breaks boosted to at least their second ability... Although I have been doing a little grinding with Cloud, he isn't stupidly over powered he's lvl 18 and a lot of my party are still 14/16 due to the story line splitting us up most the time.

Rufus was pretty decent, he was quicker than I remembered him and took me into the yellow a couple of times with a good critical. My name sake Dark Nation didn't last long but it was good to see him. Forgot he casts barrier and M barrier. Climhazzard took care of that.

I believe I have an epic fmv on a bike to watch which I am looking forward to. I can't wait to get my party out of Midgar because my team needs a bit of work. I've decided just to keep everyone original weapons for now as I really don't need to weigh my team down with materia. Although due to Aerith short shelf life I've allowed her to use her striking staff. She's a very powerful mage in her own right.

I have a hardedge for cloud I took off the soldiers thanks to Tifa's steal... but I've gone back to the buster sword.

I am having trouble deciding on my party set up so any thoughts would be helpful. I want to have a settled team /materia set up for the next while.

It's been good and I am enjoying it but I admit I am looking to get out of Midgar pretty sharpish.
