Pretty simple concept. What games do you go back to when you just want to play something fun and familiar in order to relax?

For me it's mostly old Super Nintendo/NES games. Super Mario All-Stars, Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, A Link to the Past, the original Zelda, Super Metroid, and the Marathon trilogy is the odd one out being a computer game.

Chrono Trigger and Xenogears for me. They aged well enough for me to be able to load them up and play pretty comfortably.

Cant say the same for a few other old favorites :<

Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil GCN, Banjo-Kazooie, and Mario Kart 64.

I only like playing Mario Kart against somebody else - friends or my kids.

Honestly, FFVII or FFXII - I just like to run around killing things.

I dunno, proabably Tetris, or Angry birds pick up and play stuff on my phone. I used to have a game called ceramic destroyer which was pretty addictive.

Oh and most of the DS games I own - Phoenix Wright, Prof Layton, Hotel Dusk/Last Window.

Basically anything I can play while I am on the toilet, to distract from the baffling ordeal :monster:

FFVII and Chrono Cross because I know it like the back of my hand and I've never not enjoyed it, for modern games FFXIII-2, it's easy and I enjoy the mindless grind, ME2, because it's ME2, and Gears of War as a shooter I can just pick up.

There's nothing quite like popping cel-shaded digital melons to unwind after a stressful day.

Sports games, usually, because I can play them for long periods without really having to think too much. PES6 is probably my most played game for that very reason. Final Fantasy VII is also starting to slip into that category, but I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing :monster:

NBA 2K14 and FIFA if I just want something I can play without paying too much attention.
And Streets of Rage 2, love that game

Borderlands (any game in that series really) and TF2. It's kinda nice to come home after spending all day with people and then just shoot stuff. Non-FPS RPGs tend to have plots, so they tend to not-unwind me. Puzzle games are a no-go too as those give me a major mental work out. Although I tend to find myself playing those after I've had my fill of FPS.

Except for Minesweeper. That is my go-to "i have no clue what to do next so I need to do something mindless for a few minutes" game.

I'm also pretty good a Solitaire, but I need real cards for that. What relaxes me the motions for shuffling and laying out the game physically.

Skyrim.

I can just pick it up, no matter where I left off, and carry on. Some days, I do carry on with the story and side quests. Other days, I go on a killing spree for shits and giggles.

Hmm, Skyrim, Symphony of the Night, Final Fantasy I, IV, and VI...Angry Birds. Neverwinter. Especially Neverwinter, though I can't tell if that's because I like the quests or the flirty banter with the guild. xD

FF VII and FTL. VII is like an old friend, and I love going back to it and restarting old conversations. It is very comforting. FTL because it's sheer frustrating fun which brings something new in every attempt.

Lufia 2, Final Fantasy VII, any of the Baldur's Gate series, Gravity Rush... basically games that I know so well that I feel I could play them with my eyes closed.

I don't actually think there's any older games I return to tbh. I do like Diablo, it's a nice spacing-out game. And eve, off course, but I haven't seriously put any hours into that for a long while now.

I guess I also love My Sims and My Sims kingdom for the DS, they're just such easy playing games oh and fucking Cooking Mama is one of the most fun games I've played on the DS. The DS is definitely my go to for stress busting, there's so many chill out games to play on it, normally it's the thing I bring on the bus during journeys from Galway to Belfast and a few of the cartidges, hours of fun!

Sometimes I do love to load up my old Gameboy colour and play Pokémon Blue though just for the nostalgia feels. (yus it still works, yus I took it to Galway with me, yus I have a supply of batteries for it)

One of the Assassin's Creed titles always does the trick for me. The gameplay isn't difficult but it's also incredibly satisfying. Simple parkour + easy combat makes for a great game to chill out with.

fucking Cooking Mama

Cooking Mama is a huge guilty pleasure of mine. :monster: I love to cook, and I love vidyagames, so a fun little arcade stylus vidyagame about cooking is right up my alley XD
