According to Crisis Core and the received canon, Rufus Shinra is appointed VP at the start of CC (aged 15) and is then put under house arrest for 6 years in Junon for unspecificed reasons - presumably attempting to kill his father. His absence is explained as an 'extended business trip abroad.'
However, in Before Crisis, which begins at roughly the same time as Crisis Core, Rufus is appointed VP at age 15 and remains VP for three or four years before being revealed as the traitor who is leaking secrets to evil Avalanche; the Turks manage to nab him and hold him hostage in an attempt to trade him for their ex-leader Veld. After this he is, I think, sent to Junon and kept under house arrest for 3 years, not six.
Before Crisis appears to be a fun game, though it also has more holes in its plot than my sock does. Anyway, can anyone reconcile this apparent 'crisis' of continuity?
