I'm a redhead, yet somehow I have the feeling you guys wouldn't
molest me eye me up... ;_; Still, I have to admit female redheads have more of a mystique than us male redheads.
As famous redhead Mark Twain said; "While the rest of the species is descended from apes, redheads are descended from cats."
Jotumheim is the home of the giants. IIRC Ymir is a frosty giant bad boy. NOT SURE BUT MY GUESSES ARE AMAZING
*DING DING DING, WE HAVE A WINNER!*
...And I really wish I could remember what anime I picked that up from...
Chulainn is a reference to Cu Chulainn of Irish legend. And Vaul is both from Mass Effect...and already a country in the Destrillians world.
I already explained about Chulainn, so that doesn't count.
It is? *checks world map* ohshit.
Whoops. Should I change it? Also, Vaul in this case is named after a forge god (worked the theme back in) of the Eldar in Warhammer 40K.
Anyway, unless the consensus is I should change it, I'll keep Vaul as a province name. It can either be explained as parallel linguistics development, due to a common ancestor language (real world example: most Eurasian languages have similar phonemes due to being "descended" from Sanskrit), or as some folks from the country of Vaul settled in Damascus.
Too late there already is
...And I missed it?
FML.
I don't have any witty bits involving my character's name ;.;
Me neither. ;.; Just the one lame pun in my first post:
"I'm Early."
"Actually, you're damned late."
XD C'mon guys, I'm surprised there aren't more names picked up on. I know some of you can cuss in stilted Mandarin, thanks to Whedon, and some of you hang out with the Dream King. There's a
Firefly reference and a
Neverwhere/fairy tale reference on the map. Oh, and any of you interested in Egyptology, there's a reference to that on there, too.
Once I've got the wikia article done, I'll include trivia on there regarding the "inspiration" for each name.
OK: added the Damascus map onto the resource thread, along with some background info on each province. There are some plot hooks in there, but also a lot of it has nothing to do with the story. I just felt it gave a little more local colour. Oh well. XD
