District 9

*soldier shoots rocket at ship taking off*
Alien in suit: "NO."
*catches rocket*

badass

I just hope the movie combines the 2 trailers themes, in that it's not like 2 separate movies, like the first trailer for the first part, then once the shit hits the fan it's action all the way.

It's depressing to think that this, had the proper steps been taken, could've been the Halo movie.

WHAAAAAAA!!! its not the halo movie!! WHAAAAAAAAAA!!!

this movie looks a hell of alot better than a master chief jerkfest put to film

It's the exact same team that would be doing the Halo movie had not Universal and Warner Bros threw a hissy fit. Peter Jackson, Neil Blomkamp, and Weta. They WOULD be making it now, in stead of this movie. What I'm saying after Halo died everybody said, "Hey! Let's go make District 9 instead." :monster:

I'm not saying its gonna be bad, and quite frankly I think its gonna be the best movie of the summer. And the reason everybody was excited about the Halo movie was because it WASNT gonna be a master chief jerkfest. Everything Jackson places his hands on becomes gold.

I hope this lives up to the hype. Revenge of the fallen was not what I was expecting, lets hope D9 will do justice.

Also it's about a government agent running from MNU after being infected with alien AIDs and decides to hide in District 9, where he makes friends with the ALIENS! O: ZOMG!

Yeah, saw it several hours ago. I went in not knowing anything about it other than that it featured aliens, and I'm glad, since the most effective elements of the film wound up being substantially more disturbing as surprises than they would've been if I'd known the general arc of the plot. I had the ending figured out pretty much an hour into the film, but it's the journey that's the most interesting part anyway.

Are you slow? Spielberg is taking on the Halo film.

No he isn't.

It was all rumors, none of it's been confirmed as Microsoft is still sayin the film is on hold entirely because they want to focus on ODST and Reach, even if it turns out to be true, he's only going to be producer, not director.

It doesn't matter either, it still won't ever be as good as what Blokamp and Jackson would have come up with. If you haven't noticed, Spielberg hasn't been doing so well lately. A lot of his films in the last few years have been suck, and those are the ones he directed.

So, are you slow fatass?

I'm seeing it tomorrow. And yeah, the general concensous is that it's an innovative genre-pushing science fiction movie. And like previously stated, the best film of the summer. :/

I'll have to respectfully disagree with this 'perfection'; however, I have to admit that it's difficult for the creators to reinvent the story into a mainstream film so that it appeals to [nearly] everyone. There were some times when I found myself rolling my eyes and cracking jokes, although I have to admit that the majority of this film was done very well. The dialogue was well written, believable and delivered almost impeccably without too many moments of typical one-liners. And Copley did a fucking amazing job as Wikus (seriously, he was damn near perfection).

The best thing I can say about this movie is how it ended. There really was no finalization, no happy ending (by far) and that is always a fresh breath of air.

I could be nit-picky and tear this movie apart, but I won't. The only thing that really mattered is that it entertained me, so I'll give it an 8.5/10.

I told you it was perfect :monster:

I'm with you. Saw it yesterday; it's the first film I've seen in a long time that exceeded the promise of its trailers. All the acting was superb. I lived for quite a while in Africa, so that gave it added resonance, for me. I don't want to say it's 'all about apartheid' because obviously it's much more. In fact, I especially appreciated the way the parallels were made in such a realistic way, yet not laboured. Loved 'the Nigerians'.

Everyone should see it.

After the second trailer I was worried it might be a bit too "actiony", but I shouldnt have worried at all. The action fits well, and pretty badass.

Did anybody elses theatre clap when
the leader of the gang got "electro-asploded"?
My ENTIRE theatre did.

I actually clapped when that fuck head mercenary, I forget his name, (Koobus?)
was ripped to pieces.
His character made me sick.
