Dragon Age: Inquisition

everyone singing

Cringeworthy or awesome moment depending on your point of view, I think it made sense in game. People are devout believe in the chanty, chant of light all that jazz. It works because the people in this world would find comfort in singing together like that. But your mileage may vary.

92 hours & 20 minutes & I've completed it. :monster:

Now I have to start again with a new character. :wacky:

Nominated most cringeworthy moment of any video game ever made ever.

I thought it was a very lovely moment and the song was great.
That whole sequence of the destruction of Haven, then the Inquisition singing and then finding Skyhold is one of the best I've ever seen in a video game.

OK we live on different planets when it comes to this game. I would nominate that for the most awesome moment of any video game ever made. It might not win but I'd expect it to do very well.

Maybe we just see the game in different ways and that's fine, but
after all that happened in Haven, I found that to be a beautiful moment. Kind of like the calm after the storm.

I agree that the sentiment makes sense. But the execution. Oooooooooooohboy.

That singing stuff was cheesy and dumb as fuck but I really, really enjoyed the sentiment, so :monster:

I was just more surprised that apparently everyone fleeing had really good singing voices

So like, Morrigan is kind of a bit of a blithering idiot again lol

Kinda funny watching her stumble through the elven temple, especially when you take Solas along with you :monster:

Ugh I wanted to stab her in the back for those scenes.

And then the options by the pool... honestly I let Morrigan drink because I thought that would have me kill her. What an optimist I was. >_>

Her VA does a great job with that terrible script.

I think it wasn't so much the dialogue in the script so much as it was that Morrigan was written that way on purpose to be naïve and short-sighted. I did enjoy the character moments that BioWare gave her, though. :monster:

Is not a terrible script though. The whole point of that quest and
the confrontation with Flemeth,
for her character is for her to have a piece of humble pie. That she's not as smart as she thinks she is and that protecting ancient knowledge by any means necessary can have dire consequences especially when you have a child.

^ Yeah that's the part I found to be terrible :monster:

Edit:
What I mean by that is, you get the opportunity to go through those scenes with Lavellan, having Morrigan enlighten her about Lavellan's own culture, which is particularly bad as you have the option of expressing your Lavellan as proud of being Dalish - then you learn no sorry elves it's your own fault you live as cast offs and slaves, confined to alienages in the cities*, then that witch has the nerve to ask you to drink from that pool - all of this to watch precious powerful Marsh Witch Morrigan be regretful and apologetic - I swear precious I have learned my lesson and I'm like --

-- what other than the purpose of 'catering to the fans of Morrigan' does that storyline serve?

It's as I wrote elsewhere: [2 minutes later] Fuck I can't find that thing I wrote. But it was about how that whole 'Morrian teaches about ancient elven lore' made me feel like large countries and corporation will take your culture and replace it with stereotypes to support their own image of you. That's the feeling I will have, of trying to share a bit of your culture only to have 'Helga with the braids!' slapped back in your face. That feeling of powerlessness by someone in power (yes, Morrigan is IN power) claiming ownership of knowledge of your own culture.

* And the hell kind of message are they trying to send with that storyline? WHAT exactly?

Why exactly? That wasn't a new character flaw for her, eventually it was going to bite her in the ass big time.

Also, this Yahtzee bash was kind of tame but I still couldn't stop smirking

You edited your post after I replied to you and we're in a new page. I wasn't going to notice that.

My god Fangu you are actually the captain of the bitter hate train aren't you? Calm down a bit. I'm sorry you're so disappointed with this game but a lot of people like it, try not to be so angry about a difference of taste ffs. We little minion fanboys who are clearly unintelligent for liking the game will stop talking about it if that's what makes you happy.

But it's my opinion, and I was honestly thoroughly disappointed with the DA:I experience, ever since the Keep Beta. I was so pleasantly surprised with the mindfuck that is DA2. I enjoyed how they took a chance with that game. I enjoyed Aveline. I enjoyed my Hawke and how she was part of the problem.

The thing is, I wasn't just disappointed with the story, I was disappointed with the gameplay as well. Bugs set aside, the game felt tedious and low quality and... idk, I did come straight from Valkyria Chronicles which affected the experience dearly, but I still hold on to my opinion that this game is overhyped, over-reviewed and over-praised.

I even typed up my reply to Carlie this time, trying to explain why I feel the way I feel about certain things. But it's that one sentence not addressed to the two of you that catches your eye.

Can't you just pretend I'm not addressing you personally in this topic? And also remember that just because I dislike something you like, doesn't mean I think you're an idiot?

If all of us hated the game, my posts would be perfectly valid, wouldn't they.

Your posts are valid regardless of how anyone else feels about this game, but you read like someone who is bitter as fuck that we all like it and you don't. I'm not taking it personally so much as getting annoyed with how every single thing you write on the topic is angry and disrespectful of everyone else's opinion, nobody has disrespected yours so take a leaf out of that quote in your signature and show everyone else the same courteousy.

Check the last page. I was responding to Satsu, who responded back, to which I replied. Then Carlie replied to my last reply, I replied back, then fleshed out my answer just as she was writing a request for a flesh out. To which she hasn't replied.

I admit the strike out could have been skipped, but seriously. This thread is in General Gaming, not Clubs.

so I'm like 40 hours into the game now and I finished almost all of the quests in the hinterlands (the ones I didn't finish I think I have to come back for?)

I'm level 10 and incredibly irritated that I can get that damn frostback to half health before I die to it and its little children :P

anyway, I just finished "In Your Heart Shall Burn" and wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow shit just got real

I'm enjoying the game immensely, but it's not like I expected otherwise

though some things really annoy the fuck out of me, like the infinite requisition quests, etc

also how the FUCK do I choose between cass and josie THIS IS WHAT HELL MUST BE LIKE

Just finished the game for the first time this morning! :D
My total game time was about 110 hours. Played as a female human warrior, using two-handed weapons. I played on the Normal difficulty settings, and I was surprised at how easy the final battle was; I'd had much tougher fights against the high dragons we find in the world. I flirted with just about everyone I could, but ultimately romanced Josephine.

Out of curiousity, is it possible to fully romance minor characters like Scout Harding, or would it just be confined to flirtation?

Just flirtation. :monster:

I'm currently into my second play through on Hard mode; I wish I had played it like this first.
Combat is much more interesting now. But those High Dragons...

A minute into the battle and pretty much this happens:
