Fancy trying to explain these?

Not necessarily. Special Episode of Reno (Episode 27 of Before Crisis) said that Lazard is the one who assigned Cissnei to spy on Zack (thanks to S and G for providing us with summaries of the Special Episodes, by the way).

Well damn...there goes the crux of my argument. :monster:

I don't think No.26 refers to 25 previous models, I think its just a name. It's never been stated otherwise, though, so its open for debate.

OBJECTION

From the Game Script

Cid: Well, they came up with a Rocket Engine. There was so much
experiment about the thought of going into outer space. Our dreams got bigger
and bigger. They put a major budget into it and made prototype after prototype!
Finally, they completed Shinra No. 26.

Yep. IIRC there is even a prototype that crashed in Aerith's church, and is visible in one of the churchs' 'rooms'. I believe you can see it when you and Aerith are running from Reno and his troops. But I could be wrong.

Nope, you're exactly right. A rocket crashed in her church there. That one wasn't a success apparently :awesome:

They worship the missile, DUH.

As for Rocket town, the part we see can have sprung up after the failed launch with more town existing elsewhere.

Sort of like how we never see the all of Midgar or most cities in later FFs.

RE: SOLDIER, it's entirely possible for it to exist pre-Seph's birth as a 'dummy' for its true purpose/ getting additional test stock for their purposes. It did exist before Sephy Joined, after all.
That, or it hadn't formed yet but it was already planned, so Vinny would know of its planned existence.

Erm i think thats pulling at strings a bit :monster: now looking at it, it looks like they made a big mistake tbh. If another part of the town did exist, then it was nowhere near the main part, because as we know cloud wanders the map in game.

So you mean to tell me that big thing in the church in the room with the barrels ISN'T a pillar, but a rocket?

RPGs pull the 'more town than you see' trick all the time. I can accept that.

Or we never saw it.
We only ever saw main st of Nibelheim, one square of Kalm, etc.
We see barely any of Lindblum, Esthar, Rabanastre, or any of the other big cities in FFs, and even small towns we don't see much. Hell, the place we see the most of is probably Junon, and even then we only see the front streets.

In other words, the first we see of Nibelheim is not necessarily the first the party saw, or all there is.

If you talk to Cid on the Highwind bridge during the Diamond WEAPON attack on Midgar, he'll mention that a prototype rocket crashed in Midgar.

But I always thought it was a pillar :monster:

Yeh but this is talking about places we already know existed and are there, although we might not of seen much of them, its clear there is much more depth to all of these places. Rocket Town we see in the video is built after the rocket failed, so the only thing that backs up the claim is:

Or we never saw it

In the church, that's definitely a rocket... Screenshot

With Rocket Town, there's a couple things-
He could have been born in that region, in an unmarked location on the World Map. There are a lot of locations in FF7 that are unmarked on the map.

The town could have been hidden under the trees in the FMV. After all, there had to be some sort of buildings there while they were building the rocket - after all, where would the workers, scientists, etc stay? Would they commute from Nibleheim or Wutai? :P

The FMV could have just showed a mistake - note how many mistakes are in the FMV when Aeris dies, for example.

Actually, I was trying to figure out what the rocket said on the side. All I can clearly see is an O. That site doesn't have a larger size available, either.

Also... how did that rocket get down into the church in the first place? Wouldn't it need to crash through the upper plate of Midgar as well? So I guess they just cleaned up the top part and left the rocket underneath... in a church of all places? Wow.

Maybe that particular rocket was launched before the sector five chunk of the plate was built? lol

I'd agree with this, the sectors are mostly still being built at the start of CC and if they had 25 prototypes this one could easily be an earlier model that was launched before sector 5 was there.

Also cosidering we know what happens with things that fall into the church, I wonder if Aerith asked the rocket out on a date :monster:
