Pick your four favourite songs from the selection above!

If you can't decide on just four, you can vote for as many as you want, but only in one poll of the 20 in the first round. The full list of upcoming polls can be found here.

You can listen to the songs in the playlist below.

This poll will be open for three days, and at least four songs will qualify for the next round.

Other popular names for these songs include:

Home, Sweet Home - "My Home, Sweet Home"
Burden to Bear - "The Burdened"
Lowtown - "Rabanastre Downtown"
Nalbina Dungeons - "Nalbina Fortress Underground Prison"

I get a little excited now every time I see another group!

The Dalmasca Estersand - I just wanna pack up my life and cross a desert
Cid's Theme - Powerhouse (especially flying the airship before the raid on Midgar, Disc 2)
Kefka - A very different kind of intimidation
Nalbina Dungeons - Underestimated this piece until my most recent playthrough

Turks' theme, Cyan's Theme and Lowtown get a shout-out.

Home Sweet Home was an obvious choice as I called it my #1 town theme.

Cid's and Kefka's themes are amazing and character themes always hit me hard, especially Kefka's theme which is among the best villain themes in the franchise.

And The Price of Freedom... well I squeed at its mention in the podcast so that was a given.

I'm with you Red, I get excited doing these, it's so much fun and such a challenge. :awesome:

I picked:
Cyan's Theme - Very memorable, and another song I'd hum along with as I heard it play in the game.
Price of Freedom - my favorite song from Crisis Core, I feel like it links so tightly with the whole story that without this song the game wouldn't be the same. I love the arrangement, the violin with that electric guitar bursting in.
Kiss Me Goodbye - Biased for this song because not only do I love it but my cousin sang this song like a freaking pro when she graduated from her school years ago, and I loved it and it'll always be special to me because I heard it sung live by someone with a great voice.
Dalmasca Estersand - such an energetic, engaging, adventurous song that makes me excited to walk through the Estersand. The song always evokes that bright desert and the blue river and sky, as if I'm flying on an airship overhead and feeling the heat from the sun.

Honorable mentions go to The Burdened and Cid's theme, both memorable songs that I enjoy listening to for different reasons.

Home, Sweet Home (Final Fantasy V): A nice composition.
Cyan's Theme (Final Fantasy VI) Also a nice composition.
Cid's Theme (Final Fantasy VII) Yet another nice composition. Running a bit dry on the commentary here, but I feel compelled.
The Price of Freedom (Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII) Not too big on the whiny violin at the beginning, if that what it is, but the rest of it ain't too bad.

Kefka If I ever want to freak someone out with music, this is my go-to song. Kefka may "hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate you!", but this song gets me smiling. I can't help but sing along in the most ridiculous pompous manner... and that kind of sums up Kefka at the point of the game when this song is introduced.

Kiss Me Goodbye Even though I probably murder it, this is one of my favourite songs for belting out the vocals. Angela Aki is one of my favourite musicians, in particular for her crystal clear voice. This song is all about her voice.

Lowtown One of my favourite FF town themes, especially in contrast with the grandeur of Streets of Rabanastre (the theme for uptown). The brilliant percussion arrangement accompanied by plucked strings, jangling chimes and a jarring high flute create a charming "fantasy oriental" flavour. I love it.

Nalbina Fortress Underground RPGFan says this, with which I totally agree:
"Nalbina Fortress Underground Prison" is one of about a dozen songs to feature a synthesized choir effect that I quickly came to love. The percussion here is effective without dominating, and the lack of a stand major/minor chord progression doesn't upset me in the least. The harp and flute are used in ways other than the standard glissandos and trills we've heard from previous Sakimoto soundtracks.

Really tough group, this one. It was tempting to use my 'joker', but I'd like to save it for a later group. My honourable mentions below:
  • The Red Wings
  • Home Sweet Home
  • Cyan's Theme
  • Cid's Theme
  • Turks' Theme
  • The Dalmasca Estersand (I especially love the piano arrangement)
  • Fabula Nova Crystallis

The Turk's Theme is probably my favorite character theme from any Final Fantasy game ever. :)

The Red Wings
Cyan's Theme
Kefka's Theme
Cid's Theme

By the time I reached Cid's theme, I thought "this gon' get real difficult" but it turned out to be quite easy.
I really wanted to squeeze the Dalmasca Esterand in there though.

The poll will close in a little over 24 hours.

My top pick is Turks' Theme and I'm with Lic in being astonished at how few votes it has received, especially when almost every other Final Fantasy VII song looks to be qualifying easily. Percussion is often my favourite part of any song and the Turks' Theme's percussion is its focal point; it's fantastic. I don't understand you people sometimes. :rage:

My other votes are for The Dalmasca Estersand (another song I thought would do a lot better than it is at the moment - I thought it would be nailed-on for the top 100), Kiss Me Goodbye and Cyan's Theme.

An honourable mention to Home, Sweet Home. I really would have liked to vote for it, but I didn't want to use my joker just for one extra song. You'll understand when you see group 9! A Long Way to Go is also really nice but was too short for me to seriously consider.

This was another quite easy group. My vote goes to Kefka, Kiss Me Goodbye, Lowtown and Fabula Nova Crystallis.

I voted for Kefka because it's really wacky but also a character theme that works really well. When ever you here this song in the game, you know that bad things are going to happen.

Kiss Me Goodbye is a song that for me is hard to sing because of all the emotions that it brings out. Even though I'm not a huge fan of the Angela Aki version and kinda prefer the Distant Worlds version, the song is still good and got my vote.

Lowtown was one of the songs that I almost crossed from the list. I changed my mind mainly because I really like the part where the song takes a break from the percussions and gives room to the orchestra.

I picked Fabula Nova Crystallis because it's a beautiful and sentimental composition for strings and piano. No other instruments needed.

My honorable mentions go to Cid's Theme and Nabina Dungeons.

This poll is now closed. The songs which have definitely made it into the top 100 are:

Kefka
Cid's Theme
The Price of Freedom
Kiss Me Goodbye

If your favourite song isn't on this list, don't despair! It might still get in as one of the best runners-up.

Thanks for voting!
