FF14 TLS Guild thread

It's funny, I was apart of a "Guild" 2 years before the game came to America. Called "The Glorious Alliance" (aka Glorious FF) but we were strongly built, and we still talk to each other though many of us don't play the game (I do) but yeah. Never to early.

I dont know how to explain im sure you have had and felt this feeling before but theres some friends i have met on the last MMORPG i actively played (DOFUS) that i can honestly say would be my best friends if we lived closer to each other, hell i even tried out an e-lationship due to that (me being a firm non-believer in them). The bonds that can be built in these games can become strong , i guess why theres such an appeal for them as well :reptar:

I'd be up for adding a subsection to TLS for FFXIV news. A subdomain (such as ffxiv.thelifestream.net or finalfantasyxiv.thelifestream.net) could host another Wordpress installation with news and updates, and a subsection of the forums for both general FFXIV discussion and guild stuffs.

Also, The Lifestream is the best name anyone could ever think of, second only to the Great Old Ones, :monster:.

As for mumorpegers, I played a bit of WoW a while ago (last year, I think) and got almost 200 hours into it according to Xfire. I played for two weeks on the official server, which became really boring, really fast, but got interesting when I got into a party and, later, a guild. Although then I decided 'fuck it' and went to an 'illegal' server that had higher XP rates. On there I got to level 70, then got bored and haven't played it since then. But then, I think that's also because of the illegal server having less of a social aspect, and more of a 'grind to level 70' attitude with little else to do. It's okay if you want to experiment with builds in pvp and such, but it's pretty meh otherwise.

As for FFXIV, I'd be willing to give it a try, :monster:. Open beta / demo ftw, although I can't say whether I'll be playing it properly - I have no clue how much time I'll have in a year's time etc.

I remember doing beta for FFXI, I only can hope I get to do FFXIV. Shouldn't be hard to do it again honestly :)

And would it be a big scandal if one/some of us got into beta and reported info to the rest of us? Not sure how the rules are on that. We could surely report without specifics, right?

It depends some developers make you e-sign a waver stating that if you leak you get banned and what not.
But then again they dont have a way of finding out which one of us leaked :monster:

Considering ravynn stated

I took it as her saying "if one of us got into closed beta"

If i got in i'd leak shit :P

I'm not sure if I'd leak stuff, but I would probably tell friends and acquaintances about it, if I wasn't given explicit instructions not to.

Is there typically a closed beta and then an open beta? I was under the impression that beta tests were either open or closed. I'm just not very sure how betas usually work or if each one has different rules. I guess the answer to the question I asked was "It depends on if it's an open beta or a closed beta."

Yeah, in my experience they're either one or the other.

Never swore me to secrets in FFXI. Depending on who you go with, (SE) never had me Swore to never let anything out. Blizzard on the other hand did. Just be careful upon reading the ToS and ToA (Terms of Service and Terms of Agreement) to the beta.

Realistically you can have a beta forum here under lock and key for us members.

Just can't share hardware and software (depending on what you test) and cannot reverse engineer it either etc.

Closed Beta: Means you signed up or were invited to the Beta
Open Beta: Anyone can go.

Sometimes a company may have a closed beta for a set amount of time and when the devs think that the game is ready for mass public to be able to test it they open it up for everyone.
Its alittle uncommon but its also not unheard of either.

I feel the same, I was never interested in an MMO, but the concept of a big group of us playing had me kind of excited :(
