There is a lot of talent and effort put into this, but sadly in the end it doesn't matter. You'd need something with a budget of millions of dollars in order to sell this as a tribute that doesn't clash too much against the atmosphere of the original game.

It looks awful I'm sorry. The CGI doesn't look all that impressive and the characters look really nothing like they do; Edgar is the worst offender. If he didn't use the crossbow weapon in the trailer I would've had no idea it was actually him. Kefka looks off as well and green skinned, but maybe that's just the shadows ?

Sorry if this sounds rude but I cringed all through the trailer. I admire their effort and passion though.

It's not as cringeworthy as a lot of fan creations, but still cringeworhty, . But yeah, as stated, you need a lot of moneys to make something that doesn't look like a B movie, no matter how much effort and passion and lurve and whatnot you put into it. In the end you're still stuck with the handful of teenage / early 20's cosplayers you managed to scrounge together at a conference near you and a voluntary army of CGI artists.

Anime sounds nice, I do wonder why there's not more of that coming from fans. Preferably of a degree that doesn't look like it's made in Flash.

Eh, I'm fine with the special effects. It's as good as a lot of shit from the 80s we can still watch without bitching, so I don't see the problem.

I'd rather the effort go into the writing, directing, acting, cinematography, props, costuming, editing, score, etc. All the stuff that isn't just a nice bonus if you just happen to have millions of dollars to piss away, but which the film will suck without even if you do have said millions to toss on a CG porn bonfire.

That said, this looks fucking incredible, aside from casting. It's an extraordinarily well made trailer.

Oh, yeah, it's way more impressive than the FFVII trailer. Other than Edgar not looking enough like Edgar, this is pretty badass.

I think the one who act as Tina is okay though.. I admired their effort but Kefka, Edgar and Locke were 'cosplayed' in a bad way.. Like really.. Idk Kefka has a black skin. Or it is just a shadow? Or is he actually a reptilian instead of clown? If that is the case, am I the one who played the wrong game?

And PLEASE pick someone who is handsome enough to be Locke..

I always assumed that casting was the hardest part of making fan films, because unlike a standard film where you can pay an actor who looks like the character (can but don't necessarily do that) even if they care nothing about the source material, fan films are going to mostly be volunteers who are fans and you just have to sort of pick the most fitting out of what you manage to get? So the limited choice is going to impact how fitting the actor is to the character's original look.

Still, there was more of a 'story' to this trailer than the FFVII one (which was mainly shots of a church and that's about it).

Amazing cast and costume department too. The actresses playing my OTP couple Celes and Terra (yep there's some user reveal xD) are both very beautiful and they both have some pretty big shoes to fill in! Impressive shiz! :3
