Lol I found this article its called the 6 things a parent should know about Final Fantasy 13.
I'm just going to put the last one because that one talks about Fang and Vanille.

6. It’s rated Teen for violence and some suggestive themes
Fantasy role-playing games are also well known for their outrageous costumes, and in the case of female characters, these tend to be on the skimpy side. In this tradition, some of the female characters in Final Fantasy XIII wear revealing outfits, including miniskirts, plunging necklines, bikinis and figure hugging leotards. There is one scene toward the end, where a woman transforms back from a crystal into a human, and seems to have managed to become transformed whilst naked. Clever lighting hides anything objectionable, bar the side of one of her breasts for a second or two. Internet forums almost literally exploded at this news.

Another thing that has been discussed in great detail on various forums is the possibility that Fang and Vanille might be having a lesbian relationship. Evidence put forward to support this theory include the fact that they are obviously very close, they are seen holding hands, and Fang often strokes Vanille’s hair to comfort her. Fang has sworn to protect Vanille, and talks about how she doesn’t care what happens to her, as long as Vanille is ok. However, given the age difference between them, it would seem more likely that they simply have a big sister/little sister type relationship, and this is Square Enix’s official line. The affection they show each other may also be a cultural difference, as in Japan, it is quite common to see teenage girls holding hands while they are walking around town – this almost always simply means that they are really good friends, nothing more.

Many of the cut scenes depict fighting with gun fire. For example, when soldiers storm a building where the player characters are hiding out, they are fired upon and gas cans are thrown into the building. In another, two characters are inside a flying motorcycle as bullets fly at them, none reaching their intended target.

In battles, each character has a different type of weapon that he or she uses to attack – these include pistols, swords, and staffs. When they’ve accumulated enough points to attack, they will run up to the chosen enemy and slash it with their melee weapons, sometimes jumping into the air to better reach it, or shoot rounds or magic at it from afar. There is no blood, and enemies simply fade to a silhouette before disappearing off screen completely to signify they’ve been beaten.

Probably the most intense scene of violence is in the very end sequence, when two female characters are tortured by electrocution as the torturer attempts to persuade them to do its bidding. One of the female characters is also repeatedly punched until she collapses on the ground, and she is also healed so she can then be electrocuted again and again without dying.

You’ll also hear some mild language, specifically “a**”, “d***” and “h***”, but Final Fantasy XIII is not heavy on swearing.

Few things I have to point out:

given the age difference between them
If I'm not incorrect Fang is 21 and Vanille is 19, wow that's a huge age difference

Do they also grab each others breasts and lifts each others skirts? If so then Japan is full of lesbians

Considering Serah is 18 and Snow is 21, he must not actually be marrying her, since there's such a huge age difference. :monster:

In Germany it is not uncommon that you can see a mother kissing her kids on their mouths! Same goes for some sisters.
(even if i don`t understand this!)
They say that this only shows how they like each other :loopy:
(in a mother/kid or sisterly way).
Considering this, it is quite possible that this is just a well going sisterly relationship. :awesome:

Personally I thought Fang and Vanille had something going on. The way they talk to each other and the emotional bond they have. To me it points to a relationship. Damn I'd give my soul to watch them two make out. :P Hey it's a guy thing ok.

You know, since I haven't played the game I can't really agree or disagree on any of this really. Sure it's fun to joke and look at art and all that, but officially, I can't say.

However, from what little I have heard and seen and read, it does make me wonder this: how many of these people who insist they are only sisters would be falling over themselves declaring them to be in love if SE had decided to keep Fang as a man? How much of this is really people not seeing a relationship because they just don't think it's justified and how much of it is denial because lesbians seem to make people uncomfortable?

Sorry, I just like to ponder all different sides.

Also, I feel like this thread should be merged with the other one.

I got a question because I haven't played the other final Fantasy games
was there like another lesbian couples or assumed to be one in other games?
Because I think its everywhere in anime and in Tv shows so I don't think its them
being lesbian what makes them uncomfortable. Maybe the person doing that article is an
uptight person yet again warning parents about video games.

The other thread is amazing. This one is not. Delete this one entirely if you have to, but don't taint the other with this one's garbage.

lol i joined just to try and set things clear and I've only read like half the post so if this has been mentioned o well tough luck any ways this particular quote annoyed me so i had to comment bout it to maybe make you see it from a different point of view

I'm siding with them not being lesbians

Point #1

Fang being 21 and Vanille being 19 were both given a focus 500 years prior to the games setting.. Now in the game there seemed to be alot of discrimination against l'cie ,specifically the whole world pretty much hates em and the only people they could rely on were other l'cie (pretty much themselves) Now Fang and Vanille both completed their focus and was crystallized. It seems that Pulse was a very primitive world so would it be wrong to assume that due to lack of civilizational boundaries that "Looking up ones skirt" would be bad . Aside from that, when Fang did look up her skirt everyone (Sazh Snow Lightning and Hope) made a weird expression meaning it is not common on Cocoon. In addition, Fang obviously did not look up her skirt as a lesbian act; She looked at Vanille symbol to see if there was still time before Vanille would become Cie'th, as the symbol change over time. Proof of this was because she said Theres still time after "Looking up her skirt"

Point #2
As for boob grabbing i think you've (not you in general Sazh) become a little ridiculous after the lesbian speculations because i don't remember there being any boob grabbing and i've basically studied that game like a book it is the 13th one after all =P

Wow, so Oerba had no real civilization to look down on them despite the fact they both lived in an orphanage together? I'm sure in Oerba everyone lifted up each other's skirts and everyone was having a great old time. :monster:

Also, it's during the hug when they meet again.
