Now if someone calls out these sales figures we'll know something stupid is up but SE's never lied about their sales before so, I'm inclined to believe them.

Just read some reviews, and its getting like 95%, with the only complaint that its too linear up to about midway through the game. I need more reviews! May change my mind and actually buy it. The whole typical JRPG look and feel, and transformer summons is a real put off for me though.

I mean, why do people seem to expect a game from a distinctive culture and society to suddenly not reflect the tastes and aesthetics that are indicative of said culture?

Why would you keep playing their products if they taste or look poorly to you?

The boss fights in this game are GRADE A BANANA'S. Even most of the regular fights take a while & look like epic brawls on the scale of Super Smash Bros.

I like FF for the fantasy. I don't think there is really any other fantasy game series like it. It just so happens to come from japan, so yes, cultural influences from the country will appear in the game, as they have in previous FFs.

I haven't had a problem really thus far with FF (besides getting tired of Tetsuya Nomura's designs), but FFXIII takes the cake. You could swap it with the JRPG staple Star Ocean and barely tell the difference conceptually. Crisp and cutesy.

Previous FF games haven't been so blatant like that. I'm sure if I bought the game and concentrated, I could see through the JRPG cliches and hopefully see a decent storyline, which the reviews are apparently raving about.

And I don't mind criticism of my opinions. I like to think I'm reasonable =P.
