Main Characters

Starkiller

Starkiller.png

With his death, Starkiller robbed Vader of the opportunity to destroy the Emperor, and most importantly, gave rise to the Rebellion. But, waking up in shackles on the planet of Kamino, Starkiller has only fragments of memories of his past life. Told by Darth Vader that he is merely a tool, a clone that he will use to gain control of the Empire, Starkiller escapes and sets out to learn the secrets of his past. But with few leads, Starkiller finds it difficult to know where to start his search. A familiar name echoes in his mind and with little else to go on, he sets out to find that person – Juno Eclipse.

-
It's unclear which "Starkiller" this is 1138, or 1157.

Darth Vader

DarthVader.png

Darth Vader has failed. His apprentice has proven worthless in helping him defeat the Emperor and in fact has helped give rise to the Rebellion. But, the Sith Lord has not given up so easily. In secret, Vader has cloned the original Starkiller and held him prisoner on the remote planet of Kamino. His purpose – to create the ultimate Sith warrior and once again use him to challenge the authority of the Emperor. Starkiller, however, proves to be more of a challenge than meets the eye, escaping from Kamino and forcing Vader to pursue him across the galaxy.

-
While Starkiller was first killed when attempting to be used against the Emperor, it was also shown that the Emperor and Vader were using him to create the Rebellion to bring the Empire's enemies together to defeat them all at once. While Vader is supposedly cloning him in secret, the Emperor's knowledge of Vader's past exploits, as well as the implications for the cloning facility in the Emperor's plot in the EXU makes it unclear who it's a secret from, and if Vader is really using Starkiller to challenge Palpatine again.

General Kota

Kota.png

A tough, grizzled Jedi Master, Rahm Kota was one of the most respected and feared generals during the Clone Wars. Time and time again Kota proved himself a brilliant tactician and cagey commander, leading the Republic to victory in many encounters throughout the Outer Rim. Unlike other Jedi Generals, Kota chose to rely on human soldiers rather than clone soldiers as he believed that humans would be more creative and resourceful in the field. This move proved life-saving as Kota was able to avoid the repercussions of Order 66 and escape into hiding. Kota eventually resurfaced and began attacking key Imperial targets across the galaxy before joining Starkiller in the formation of the Rebel Alliance. Recently General Kota has been listed as missing after suddenly disappearing while on a mission to Cato Neimoidia.

-
This is interesting as it talks about Kota disappearing at Cato Neimoidia before any mention of assaulting Kamino, where he mentions that he's picked up on Malastare. This means that while Starkiller's with Yoda and away from Kota, the general might go to Malastare, possibly making this the 4th world to be explored in the game, after Kamino, Cato Neimoidia, & Dagobah.

Juno Eclipse

Juno.png

Born on the Core World of Corulag, Juno Eclipse was one of the youngest and most decorated pilots in the Imperial Navy, rising quickly in rank and given command of her own squadron. Because of her success and undying loyalty to the Empire, Juno was hand-picked by Darth Vader to be custodian to his secret apprentice, Starkiller, and pilot his ship, the Rogue Shadow, on numerous top-secret missions. In a cruel twist of fate, Juno was incarcerated and summarily branded a traitor by the Empire for her association with Vader's apprentice, despite the fact she was only following orders. After being saved by Starkiller in a daring rescue aboard the Empirical, Juno dedicated herself to fighting the Empire. She eventually became one of the first commanders of the Rebel Alliance and captain of the starship, the Salvation.

-
Nothing too important here, aside from the official site saying that she piloted the "Rogue Squadron" It is interesting to see that the Rogue Shadow is still around if she's now a captain of an EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate.

Baron Tarko

Baron.png

Baron Merillion Tarko was born on the core world of Anaxes into a family with heavy military and government ties. Upon graduating with top honors from the Anaxes Citadel, Tarko was immediately assigned to one of the Galactic Republic's flagships at the dawn of the Clone Wars conflict. After the fall of the Republic, Tarko began his quick rise to power and was made a Moff at the behest of Wilhuff Tarkin. Soon after, Tarko took over command of the Imperial outpost on Cato Neimoidia. While there, Tarko used his influence and power to run a successful slave-trade business, which helped create the bulk of the Empire's laboring workforce used to build outposts on subjugated planets. To further increase his wealth, Tarko then began establishing gambling casinos on Cato Neimoidia. He used the money generated from that venture to fund and build a massive arena, which featured gladiator combat for both sport and profit.

-
Interesting mention that we may be seeing Grand Moff Tarkin at some point, which would be setting up the Empirial command a little bit more clearly, and would help to flesh out the Empire vs. Rebellion feel of this game due to when it's taking place.

Subject 1157 Minigame
(click to play)

Chronological Audio Entry Summary

Entries & Audio Logs

The audio entries are presented out of order. They are listed here in order, along with notations that seem to coincide with the visions he sees in the tank. The observation logs appear to coincide directly with the information currently being observed during the minigame, such as the removal of the medical droids, and the appearance of Vader, and are in order. There have also been notations added to indicate where they seem to match up.

TFU_Timer_Out_6-8-2010.png

1157 first wakes up in an empty testing facility.

Observation Log, Subject 1157, Phase 13-B Entry 27
* (Rows 1 & 2, Audio Entries 12 - 25)
- Process is under way.
- Subject is sporadically conscious.
- The subject is physically uninjured.
- Subject is being memory scanned.
- Subject cannot harm himself.

Entry 12
- Increased capacity/focus, aware of the outside.
- No concern, restraints precautionary.
(Likely that the Visions in Rows 1 & 2 take place around this point)

Entry 21
- Updated adjacent facility for training.

Entry 25
- Stabilizes.
- Vader visits the next day.

TFU_MEDICAL.png

A 2-1B Medical Droid is now attending to 1157.

Observation Log, Subject 1157, Phase 16-D Entry 4
* (Rows 3 & 4, Audio Entry 32)
- Is not impaired, like previous subjects.
- Healthy, with complete motor functions (1157 first begins moving in the tank during this time).
- Entering next stage of rapid accelleration.

Entry 32
- Memories identified.
- No control over force powers.
- Restraint/sedation/counter-memory insertion precautions.
(Likely that the Visions in Rows 3 & 4 take place around this point)

StarKiller_Tank.png

Darth Vader stands off to the left, observing the tank silently. 1157 cracks the tank in his direction with a force push, and his hand crackles with force lightning.

Observation Log, Subject 1157, Phase 22-A Entry 29
* (Rows 5 & 6, Audio Entries 33 - 42)
- Memories/attachments to Juno are unable to be removed (Visions shift to her during this time).
- Suggestion of exterior training to dull them.

Entry 33
- Able to manipulate / attack droids.
- Actively restrained.
(Likely that the Visions in Rows 5 & 6 take place around this point)

Entry 42
- Storms affect power grid.
- Process details lost.
- Manual testing being done.
- New equipment ordered.

Tank7.png

A klaxon sounds, and the red light flashes. Two stormtroopers stand guard, as 1157 cracks the tank even more with a force push, from both hands, still arcing with force lightning.

Observation Log, Subject 1157, Phase 37-B Entry 1
* (Rows 7 & 8, Audio Entries 65 - <125)
- incontrollable rage.
- immune to sedation.
- nearing full breach.

Entry 65
- 1157 is exceedingly agitated.
- Sedation techniques are only weakening him physically.

Entry 77
- 1138 returns.
(This stage is the Kamino invasion).

Both stormtroopers have left their posts, and there is the sound of blaster fire.

*Some time during this period (either shortly before, or after Entry 78), 1138 attacks 1157's tank, and shatters it. While the medical droid states that "Subject 1157 has expired." The fact that Entry 125 mentions 1157 existing outside of the tank points to him still being alive.*

Entry 78
- Abandoned all non-viable subjects.
- 1157 moved to the training facility.
(Likely that the 1157's tank stage ends at this point).

Entry 125
- Breakout occurs.
- Facility's inner security tightened.
- 1157 restrained.

Chronological Vision Summary

There has been some debate as to the order that the Visions are meant to appear. To clear this up, I have placed brief summaries of them in order. They run from A - C, or Right to Left in the tank. This is because the tank is viewed from the inside, thus making everything reversed, like the backwards numbers on the countdown timer. In other words, if viewed from outside, it would then make the visions running from Left to Right, in proper order (aside from the final visions that came up automatically).

Vision 1a
- The Sith always betray one another.
- There is conflict within him.
- He is dead.
Vision 1b
- Sever all ties to his past.
- The Dark Side is always with him.
Vision 1c
- He remembers Juno.
- Vader won't always be his master.

Vision 2a
- Vader said that he was dead, but he came back.
- Leaving the Empire behind.
- He can have his revenge, and fulfil his destiny.
Vision 2b
- His destiny is his own.
- His power is wasted as Vader's slave.
- Potential to control the galaxy.
- (Transitions to future visions from memories).
Vision 2c
- Vader descendiong to Kamino.

Vision 3a
- Vader landing at, and entering the facility.
Vision 3b
- Vader entering 1157's training/containment chamber.
Vision 3c
- The Force gives him all he needs.
- Conflict over who his master is when confronted with the Dark Side.

Vision 4a
- Being forced to destroy Starkiller's creations & hate what he loved.
Vision 4b
- Still haunted by visions.
- Memories of a dead man (not entirely true) & they'll fade.

Complete Audio & Video Entry Summary

• The Audio Diaries have been transcribed below. Some links exist in the text (mainly for medical terms). Also withing the transcriptions are super scripted numbers referring to information that seems to reveal key details about the game's plot (possible spoilers). The interpritation of this information is displayed underneath the text in spoiler tags - click the "Notations" text to display/hide it. Please keep in mind that the notations refer to other visions/audio entries, often out of order, and also contain speculation that is constantly being changed.

• The Video Clips are added below their summaries (the Youtube clips seem to be one second longer than the .swf files). The transcriptions are all spoiler tagged - click the "Vision Summary" text to display/hide it. The force vision transcriptions have // to indicate when there is a cut from one scene to another, as they tend to jump back and forth. In additon to these future visions, there are brief interruptions of visions even farther in the future that seem tied to the main event. These interruptions are marked in *italics with asterics*.

----------
Observation Log, Subject 1157, Phase 13-B Entry 27

The process is underway.

The subject presents sporadic signs of consciousness, often followed by acute paroxysmal attacks, caused by a sudden and short lived demyelization of nerves, located in the cerebrocerebellum.¹ These episodes are observed externally as course trembling throughout the body. The source reason for the episodes is unclear.

All sketetal and muscular structures and intact.¹¹ No sign of allergic reaction, and the nutrient supply is being effectively absorbed.² We have begun mind scans to record the subject's conscious experiences, as a way of ascertaining the cause of the disturbances.²² In the mean time, until a satisfactory course of treatment can be readily decided, sedative techniques and counter memory insertion methods have been taken at any sign of attacks here³, ensuring the subject does not cause himself harm.³³

¹ This would explain Starkiller's shattered memories trying to piece themselves back together, before he begins to shift to the force visions, and seeing things that haven't happened yet.
¹¹ This doesn't seem to be an analysis that would be performed on a clone that's been grown completely, but would match a medical analysis accurate with a recovered body. It may be that the cloning process of a force user is vastly more complicated, or if they began cloning Starkiller after his death.
² Again, these are assesments that more fall in line with someone's insertion into a tank for the first time, not the typical growth of a clone.
²² They're trying to asses what is on his mind, and isolate his specific memories, as he's apparently causing disturbances. Ripples in the force subconsciously, like he did in the announcement trailer, and the floating objects during his meditation in the first game.
³ Attacks referring to his subconscious force episodes. Possible early stages of Force Fury.
³³ Note that 1157 seems to be a very special clone, even though he's still in early stages, before the valid information from his mind is obtained.

Row Two: Audio Diaries - empty room (click for image)

----------
Entry 32

The subject is experiencing a sympathetic echo effect as a result of memory-based, non-psychotic hallucinations. These hallucinations are inducing psycho-physical reactions, beyond the capacity of his current state. In other words, 1157 is experiencing memories as if he were physically present and had his full faculties and talents. The resulting trauma is inducing shock and causing convulsions.

The subject's midi-chlorian levels remain relatively high¹. He can endure extreme disturbance, without skeletal harm or muscular atrophy. Though he does not have control over midi-chlorian organization, restraint programming, trigger based sedation techniques, and continued counter-insertion methods seem a necessary precaution.

¹ Explanation of his force powers being at a relatively powerful state.

----------
Entry 42

The unceasing storms have effected the power grid¹, creating an unsatisfactory level of sustainability for the equipment we've been using. Some process details are being lost². The droids must complete many test manually. This is resulting in a lower level of consistency and treatment. It is unclear how this has affected the subject. Electrostatic³ equipment has been ordered.

¹ Kamino is a water world, and 1157 is deep within the facility. These storms are likely force-oriented, and originating from him. In the visions 5A and later, 1157's arms are shown crackling with force lightning when pushing against the glass, and the gameplay footage of force fury shows force lightning arcing from his body. This is likely the first noted effects of Force Fury affecting his environment from his state of frustration.
² Evidence that what's done here wouldn't be easily replicated in the case of the Emperor's cloning facility in the EXU.
³ More evidence that the storms are Force Lightning-related.

Row Three: Audio Diaries - 2-1B Medical Droid (click for image)

----------
Observation Log, Subject 1157, Phase 16-D Entry 4

Unlike previous subjects, 1157's capacity is not impaired at this stage in the process¹. He has virtually ceased experiencing any physical side effects. This is a new, and exciting development. Vital signs point to complete motor functions, including high oxygen saturation. He is now able to counter any internal stressors from either genetic impulses or imprints². We will begin the next stage of rapid accelleration.

¹ Previous subjects refers to multiple other subjects. When taking 1138 into account, this could mean that 1157 may be more powerful in the force than he was.
² This shows that at this point, they are unable to block out any of his pre-existing memories, or brainwash/imprint him further.

----------
Entry 12

As his capacity increases and the process continues, 1157's hallucinations have become more focued and calm. In fact there are points of consciousness, where the hallucinations cease entirely, and he is aware of his presence in the tank. While there has been no need for concern, we continue mild restraint and sedation procedures as a precautionary tactic.

No additional notations.

In reaction to 1157's increased capacity, the adjoining training facility has been updated to accommodate him, once he has fully accepted his imprint. This includes an isolation chamber, and several more PROXY Droids. The facility itself has also been reinforced, as to render it impenetrable in case of possible flight reaction.

No additional notations.

----------
Entry 25

With recent developments in 1157's stability, I have received word that Lord Vader will be inspecting the facility tomorrow. I am honored to offer this scientific success to the cause. I forsee our learnings from this subject translating into an era of refinement and advancement for the process.¹

¹ This likely refers to "the process" of cloning Force users, as Galen Marek seems to have been a large scale test subject.

Observation Log, Subject 1157, Phase 22-A Entry 29

Observations of recent hallucinations reveals unacceptable anxiety levels brought on by genetic memories of a particluar woman (Juno Eclipse). No amout of imprinting can change his behaviour, If this imprint access fails, a revised, external, desensitization training will need to be enacted.¹

¹ This is the training he forsees in Vision 4a. The fact that it is a revised version of the training still helps to blur the line between whether or not we will be taking the role of 1157 or 1138.

----------
Entry 33

When not sedated 1157's capacity has reached beyond the tank, allowing him to manipulate and attack the droids. Due to restraint procedures, 1157 can not breach the ingrity of the tank, nor can he hurt himself.

Starkiller running up to Darth Vader's personal TIE Fighter on Kamino // *split second flashes of falling and the exterior of Kamino* // he pauses before the ramp up to the landing platform. The doors behind him are torn open from the inside, as Darth Vader force pushes them outwards, and walks out.

(At this point, within the tank, Subject 1157's hand reached up. He yells out in frustration/anger, and force pushes at the image of Darth Vader in his mind - possibly as well as the one standing in the room, observing him, cracking his tank, before his hand drops out of sight - again, likely being sedated and restrained.

After this point, when loading the page, 1157's hand can be seen to be crackling with force lightning - likely the source of the electrical storms if you look at the chronological entries below).

Starkiller and Kota are in what appears to be a ship. Starkiller is standing to Kota's left, and Kota is seated, having a heated discussion. Kota starts, "Well, I may be blind, but I'm still connected to the Force! I-" - Starkiller interrupts "You're not listening to me, I'm NOT StarKiller." // *An explosion // Starkiller attacking something on Dagobah // Starkiller on the ground outside on Kamino (appears to be a different view of the moment at the end of vision 3b)* // "I'm a clone. I was grown, in a vat-" // *The Rogue Shadow flying by swiftly (on Cato Neimoidia)* // "-to take his place..." Kota starts laughing over the top of him. "Ho ho ho. W-w-well i-i-i-is that what Vader told you?"

Entry 65

1157 has grown exceedingly agitated¹. It seems the sympathetic effect of genetic memories may end in aberration². I have begun experimenting with new sedation techniques in search of something to change 1157's mood and thus hinder aberration. While all methods seem to weaken him physically, none of them has changed his temperament in the slightest.

¹ This is visible in his movements within the tank, and likely a result that Starkiller was screaming out in retaliation to holding back the Emperor's force lightning when he was defeated on the Death Star.
² The droids in the background can be heard to say "Aberrant behaviour recorded." This is a fairly broad diagnosis, though it most likely refers to him not being completely obedient to the mental conditioning.

----------
Entry 125

Due to the recent breakout¹, security measures within the facility have been tightened². Arbitrary restraint procedures for 1157 have become systematic³. This breach will not affect the process, but may add to the subject's anxiety.

¹ Chronologically, this is the final Audio Diary, this is after 1138 destroys 1157's tank. Still unclear if this is referring to 1138's escape or an attempt made by 1157, as the one closest to this is Entry 78, which allows for some significant time between the two (approx half the total time of all other entries combined).
² This explains the large number of droids, and battle-ready stormtroopers within the facility during the Betrayal Trailer.
³ This could explain why the early visions of 1157 (or 1138) show him in (force) cuffs, and in a cage-like structure below ground, when Vader approaches him.

Kota sits down, and leans his head back, his blind eyes gazing upwards. // *Falling vision // Kota (on Kamino), mouth open in a snarl, with both hands raised over his head, likely poised to bring down a lightsaber strike.* // Kota replies, as he sits up slightly, "I don't know." Starkiller looks back at him, more agitated, "What!?"

(When the vision of Juno appears, 1157 reaches up in the tank, and beats the glass twice, hte first impact, force lightning arcs across his entire arm, dissipating the second time, before he is sedated).

¹ Unknown if this is 1157 or 1138, but it seems that the visions further serves to blur the player's Starkiller's true identity.
² Previous visions indicate that Rahm Kota was captured and Starkiller was sent to Cato Neimoidia to find him. It is unclear when this vision takes place, but it appears that this is likely 1138 with Kota before his capture. Note that Kota's cheeks seem to be less scarred than other visions of him (click to view), so this is likely taking place before his capture.
Another indication of this, is vision 3B, which shows the fleet of Rebel ships exiting over Kamino, and being assaulted by an Imperial fleet of Star Destroyers, with Kota shouting, "NO!" This vision appears to be taking place just after this one, further indicating that Vader may be attempting to manipulate the Rebels with a clone of Starkiller even after 1138's defeat on the Death Star, leading to Kota's capture, and possibly Juno's disappearance. Also - Kota's exclamation of "By the Force, I knew you were alive!" in Vision 5C, he may be subtly referring to Starkiller apparently being killed / lost during the battle over Kamino.
While this is mostly speculation, it seems clear that this event takes place before Kota's capture on Cato Neimoidia. Might it also be noted that the Zillo Beast was native to Malastare, and was also intended to have been cloned (as hinted at in the Clone Wars Episode, "The Zillo Beast Strikes Back").

Entry 78

By Lord Vader's orders, we are abandoning all non-viable subjects¹. We will have to release 1157 into the training facility to see if the imprint finally holds². I can only hope that in these final minutes, my life's work is not in vain.³

¹ This seems to include a large number of test subjects, and likely is referring to all experimental subjects that are not 1138, 1157, or the ones at the end of the Betrayal Trailer.
² 1157 is released after 1138 destroys his tank (seen in a later vision).
³ 1157 holds particular significance, in being such a large piece of "his life's work." It's possible that this is a comment made, when he is worried about 1157's health, due to injury from 1138.

----------
Entry 77

An evacuation order has been given to all non-essential personnel in response to the return of Subject 1138¹. We are so close to success. I will do what is necessary to make 1157 fully accept the imprint.

¹ First mention of another Starkiller clone. 1138's designation also places his activation prior to 1157's, and would therefore line up with the timeline events that seem to show him interacting with Kota and Juno before 1157 escapes. 1138 is also mentioned in the original game (full details in his analysis and speculation section).

Storyline Speculation / Analysis

There is much information that has been hinted at, and revealed through subtle clues, and I have attempted to address a majority of that information below. Please note that all the information here uses the information revealed thus far, and may contain spoilers, thus every section is hidden by spoiler tags.

Regarding Subject 1138 and Starkiller's Demise.

Subject 1138 is the Starkiller who formed the Rebel Alliance. Some way or another, after the events of The Force Unleashed, Subject 1138 has been revived. Whether or not Subject 1138 was in fact the same "Starkiller" as the one from the start of the game isn't clear, but what this means is that the original TFU's hero may never have been the original Galen Marek. It is unclear if you are taking the role of 1138 or 1157 (or someone else) in the game.

Darth Vader to Starkiller on board the Empirical:
"I salvaged your body, and brought you here to be rebuilt."

After Starkiller defeats Shaak Ti, the Emperor follows him to the Executor (still under construction). Starkiller is killed by Vader, he is brought on board the Emperical, and -in Vader's words- remade. During his escape, when he goes to rescue Juno, there is a VERY important little piece of information that is dropped.

"Security breach in sector 9. Subject 1138 has escaped. Set blasters to kill." (click to skip to that section in the video clip ~ 06m 14s).

This means that the Starkiller you play in the original game might not even have been the original Galen Marek, but he DOES survive the incident at the Death Star

At 0:57 seconds, Starkiller fully repels the Emperor's force lightning, and roars out, unleashing a massive explosion. While Vader, and the Emperor are unharmed, they do have to re-approach Starkiller's body, and the ground around his is scarred, and burned, suggesting that it's some form of Force Repulse, that Vader and the Emperor protected themselves from, similiar to his enhanced Force Repulse in the Betrayal trailer, even down to the scream when he unleashes it, and the damage around him, leaving his body physically un-damaged, while still causing his death.

At 1:32, Darth Vader says, "He is dead." to which the Emperor replies, "Then he is now more powerful than ever." When discussing the Rebels, Vader says "... I will hunt them down, and destroy them. As you always intended, master." The Emperor turns to leave, and then looks back, "You must be relentless, Lord Vader. If even a single rebel survives, this alliance we've unwittingly created will be our undoing." He then turns and walks towards his seat. If he is then revived, it's possible that his body could then be capable of withstanding the increbile strain of these even more extreme force powers that originally killed him.

It is apparent that Vader has now managed to "kill" 1138 once, (perhaps twice) for the Emperor. It appears that 1138 is alive again by TFU2, according to Audio Entry 77: "An evacuation order has been given to all non-essential personnel in response to the return of Subject 1138. We are so close to success. I will do what is necessary to make 1157 fully accept the imprint." It appears that the (currently unnamed) Imperial Cloning Officer is aware that 1138 eventually turned to the light side, and didn't accept the imprint that they created when they created him. The interesting part about the 1157 minigame, is due to his visions, and awareness, (and possibly 1138 attacking him, though it's not clear is that's a vision as well), 1157 knows that he is a clone. If this i s an attempt to force him to accept the imprint, or just circumstantial is currently unclear.

Regarding the Transformation of Kamino's Cloning Facility.

Some way or another, after the events of The Force Unleashed, Subject 1138 has been revived. Whether or not Subject 1138 was in fact the original Galen Marek hasn't been addressed. What we do know is that Galen Marek was used for a Jedi cloning experiment on a massive scale, largely taking over the production of Clone Troopers, as the Empire transitioned to using non-clone Stormtroopers.

Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious was always obsessed about the creation of life through the force, as it's the one thing that he never learned from his master, Darth Plagueis before he murdered him. (There is even speculation that Plagueis manipulated the midi-chorians in order to create Darth Vader, thus Anakin's lack of a father). The most important thing to note about Galen Marek, is that, in the Dark Side ending of The Force Unleashed, Palpatine states to 1138, "You could have been my equal."

This means that Galen Marek is a perfect test subject to produce a viable clone of a powerful force user, to allow Palpatine to prolong his own life, since he lacked the knowledge of his master. 1157 seems to be in a very powerful Force Fury state that has force lightning constantly arcing all across his body and to everything around it, this can be seen in early stages on his arms in the tank. His force potential is already noted to be significantly high, meaning that at this point (about 6 months prior to A Hew Hope) Also in the EXU, we know that Palpatine does in fact produce such a facility, despite the a, the Emperor would be close to finding what ne needs, and would thus be far removed from the early events in Star Wars, but later appearing by Return of the Jedi, by which time in the EXU, we know that Palpatine would have completed his cloning facility.

Regarding the Unique Elements of 1157's Cloning Process.

•The first Audio Diary, Observation Log, Subject 1157, Phase 13-B Entry 27, the descriptions of the procedures performed don't seem to match up with those of a lifeform who has been grown from a tank, but rather one who has recently been inserted into a tank from an external environment. Anything from physical damage to allergic reactions shouldn't be occurring with cloned subjects, especially at a facility that has produced hundreds of thousands of clone troopers. The other possibility would be that cloning from a powerful force user with a high midi-chlorian count could cause complications, and the main subjects could experience physical issues as a result, thus only allowing for some subjects to have survived. This may be backed up by the mention of non-viable subjects in Entry 78.

In row 3 in the Audio Diary Observation Log, Subject 1157, Phase 16-D Entry 4, they refer to "previous subjects" as having an impaired capacity at a particular stage of the process, though the capacity of what is unclear. Subject 1138, may have not had as strong of capabilities this quickly after he is "activated" or his potential may actually be inferior to 1157's. The full scope of 1138's capabilities as compared to 1157's are unclear, but with 1138 being activated and having time to train his abilities, he would be a close match for a new clone with a more immediately available potential. It still doesn't help to clear up who the player is taking control of in the game. Also relating to who the player takes control of, It's seems like Vader regards him as useless, and casts him aside, as they seem to have successfully created clones, with one being activated at the end of the Betrayal trailer (unlikely 1157, as this clone doesn't appear to have been awake prior to Vader activating him).

It's unlikely that Vader expected the Stormtroopers to be able to kill the clone, even chained to the floor if it was 1138, or 1157. Starkiller running confused to find his friends is the best way for Vader to track down the Rebellion, and prove the capabilities of another one/more of the Starkiller clones, with the least successful resistance from his apprentice, as well as proving that the clones are capable of surpassing the original. While risky, it's likely that the Emperor has a hand in its orchestration. Starkiller's attachment to Juno is one that is going to be exploited by them, as they have previous knowledge of it.

Row four, Audio Diary Entry 25 refers to "refinement and advancement for the process." At a facility as well renowned as the one at Kamino, having produced hundreds of thousands of clones of Jango Fett for the Clone Troopers during the Clone Wars, it's highly unlikely that this refers to the process of cloning in general, and is more likely referring to the process of cloning a force user. As mentioned above, it is likely that most of this information was used to assist the Emperor with creating his own clones.

Regarding 1157's recurring visions.

Aside from 1138's assault on Kamino, there have been three primary recurring visions of three individual locations. Kamino, Cato Neimoidia, and Dagobah.

*** Much of the information on Cato Neimoidia was shown at Comic Con

Cato Neimoidia: It is almost certain that Starkiller's first destination after escaping Kamino's facility is to rescue his captured mentor - Rahm Kota. We know that Kota is in the arena, and this seems to happen at dusk, showing both the arena, and other events at the same time of day. There are visions of him in front of Vader's personal TIE Fighter igniting his red lightsabers and blocking blaster fire, Kota in the arena, and their meeting, him and Kota being approached by a massive unknown creature, standing on a bridge-like structure, hanging from a ledge, and him and Kota falling together amidst debris - closely followed by ther Rogue Shadow flying.

Kamino: From the brief clips, it appears that Starkiller, Rahm Kota, and two republic troopers return to Kamino. During their visit there, they are all incapacitated, as Starkiller continues to see flashes of a particular location where this seems to occur. One of these time, he was lying on the ground, in the rain, looking at three figures - also on the ground, with two non-human figures standing to either side of the group. Another time, Rahm Kota and two troopers were seen, and in a later one, what appears to be one of the troopers was being thrown through the air. Starkiller has also seen a vision of himself looking saddened while lying on what is likely the same ground.

- While it is obvious that they are attacked and defeated, it's unclear as to by what, or when. This does seem to be a seperate incident from Starkiller's escape, or 1138's assault on the facility, though it's not entirely clear. The figures may be some of the facility's droids, though it's difficult to tell.

Dagobah: So far, there have only been brief glimpses of him wielding blue lightsabers, and standing by the large Gnarltrees, specifically during the word "Master." Yoda's voice is also heard in vision 5C.

- It's been mentioned that Rahm Kota mentions Dagobah, though how he knows of Master Yoda's hidingpalce is unclear. Starkiller finds master Yoda, only that he does, and appears to undergo training there. At this point, Yoda does know of Luke & Leia, but likely wouldn't discuss them. Starkiller being the Sith Assassin responsible for the destruction of the few remaining Jedi would make Yoda aware that aside from the twins Luke & Leia, when Starkiller dies, Luke would be the last of the Jedi when he trains him in The "Empire Strikes Back." Red and Blue lightsaber light were seen, and clashing heard from an image on the main page before the 1157 minigame, and this likely means that Starkiller will confront some version of himself in the Darkside Cave, much like he did in the Jedi Temple, which holds particular significance in light of the clones. Anything after this seems to have been very well kept under wraps.

Regarding The Force Unleashed (1&2)'s Subplot: Darth Vader's Remorse

VadersRemorse.jpg

Darth Vader is more than just the black knight for the Emperor. He's more than the suit, and the indimidating voice, and persona. Masked by all this is the man who became him. In the original trilogy, we mostly deal with Luke discovering the true nature of Darth Vader, as his father, Anakin Skywalker. With this, he manages to discover and break through to his father, and win him over from the Dark Side. The early trilogy (I, II, & III) helps to show Anakin's slow manipulation by Palpatine, and fall from the once prestigious Jedi Warrior, and his transformation into a Sith Lord.

One thing that The Force Unleashed did was that it indirectly explored a very interesting aspect of Vader. The idea that he had secretly raised a child, somewhat like a son as a secret apprentice. While still being subsurvient to the Emperor, and obedient to the Dark Side, and teaching this child in the dark arts, this started to plant some interesting seeds into Vader. He had some attachment to Starkiller, which is something that he hadn't experienced to our knowledge within that time period. It would obviously effect him when being forced to betray Starkiller, and seeing him die (indirectly) at the hands of the Emperor. Doubtless, this is something that he would re-experience emotionally when he saw Luke being attacked by the Emperor in a very similiar manner to how Starkiller was killed.

In thinking of Darth Vader as two personas, as Obi-Wan initially describes them, Vader's strength is his total emptiness, and emotional void, which allows Palpatine to manipulate him completely, and makes him the deadly tool of the Dark Side that is so completely feared. The root of this emptiness is the loss that Anakin experienced causing him to try to cling on to things, and ending up with nothing again and again. As a child, it was his mother, who was eventually killed by the sandpeople, and then later it was Padme, who he believed he was responsible for killing. We don't know how long (if at all) Starkiller was kept secret from the Emperor. Still, him raising Starkiller from a young child to a man, and then betraying him (though not killing him), must have left Vader feeling some inner conflict, leading in to the early parts of A New Hope, that would be strongly tested by Luke's appearance. Luke's line in Return of the Jedi, "Then my father is truely dead." would have hit into Anakin's regrets that he never gave in to, which eventually saved him in the end.

Now with The Force Unleashed II picking up about 6 months later, the idea that Starkiller is revived / cloned (and may have been from the start) is very interesting. I'm really curious to see what Vader is like in this, and hopefully the well conceived ideas behind the subplot that was introduced stays intact, and is elaborated upon subtly, like in the first game.

Post Update Information

Update: (6/22) I edited out most of the information in the first post to detail everything shown in the 1157 minigame so far, and split section for the game & speculation as well. I'll likely add in some links to the trailers and whatnot, but it's late, and I've gotta work tomorrow. More to come to be sure, as I think I've figured out what's going on here, but it doesn't make it any less enthralling.

Update 2: (6/23) Massive update to the first post. Storyline speculation details to be added as I feel that I have time to write them.

Update 3: (6/23) Aaaand done with the speculation bit for now. I may decide to add links to Youtube versions of the videos later.

Update 4: (6/25) Cleaned it up a bit with sizing, spacing, and naming the spoiler tags. I think that it's one of the better looking posts that I've put together in quite some time. I love speculating on content, and interpriting. There should also be links to the relevant medical conditions as well.

Update 5: (6/25) Videos for all the Visions have been added. (I know the youtube time and the listed time are different). This should be the format that I'm using for everything from here on out.

Update 6: (6/26) Analysis/Speculation section has been updated pretty heavily with content, and interpritations of what's been seen so far, and how it all facters into the game. Also- adding an Last updated: date for the 3 sections at the top for quick reference.

Update 7: (6/30) Analysis/Speculation section has been updated regarding Starkiller's demise on the Death Star, and how it ties in to the beginning of the game. Row 6 Audio & Video entries are all linked and completed, and the chronological audio entry section has been updated accordingly.

Update 8: (7/3) Chronological Entry section updated, now contains Audio & Video summaries. With only one Audio Entry in the next row, if current trends continue, then we will be receiving our final Observation Log in Row 7, followed by two Audio Entries in Row 8.

Update 9: (7/6) Section 7 Audio & Video entries have been added, videos to be included as they become available. The Chronological Audio Entry section has been extensivaly updated, and the Entries & Audio Logs have been marged to provide a more comprehensive analysis of the events surrounding 1157. Additional information about 1138 will be added later this week.

Update 10: (7/9) Added an analysis about Darth Vader's subplot in the first game, and it's continuation into the second.

Update 11: (7/14) Updates to Row 8 for Audio & Video Entries. Analysis & Speculation section added for Subject 1138 & the other clones. Some other entries updated.

Update 12: (7/23) Information on Subject 1138's true identity has come out, and involves some HEAVY re-edits and analysis of the content here. This information has been added to the Analysis & Speculation section, with full updates to the comments in the rest of the sections to come. The Boba Fett Video has been added to the Game section, and the Final Visions of 1157 have been added in to the video section. The Chronology secrtion has also been spoiler tagged, and moved above the summaries into a more convenient location. Lastly, given the information provided in the audio diaries, specifically Entry 125, despite the droid's words, this shouldn't be the last we see of 1157.

Update 13: (7/28) The main Website has been updated, and all the information has been transferred. There's a lot of cool new concept art. All sections of this post have been updated to accurately reflect what's been shown so far in the 1157 minigame, with revisions to the speculation, and notations.

Update 14: (7/29) Added corrected information from the main site on the Characters, and expanded the main website's section.

Update 15: (8/13) Added the small cinematic video of Starkiller first encountering Yoda.

Update 16: (9/8) Added main character images.

Update 17: (10/6) Demo Release Date added.

Update 18: (10/7) Gameplay Trailer added.

Update 19: (10/13) Walls & Snow Cinematic teasers added.

Update 20: (10/16) Interview with Sam Witwer added.

If you have any ideas / suggestions / comments, let me know. :D

Well at least it explains how there still is a Starkiller and how they could fit a sequel in. :monster:

The teaser trailer raised a heck of a lot of questions when I saw it earlier this year.

I still need to finish the original. But if this turns out better, then I'll get it for sure.

If they can improve on the first one, this might actually be pretty awesome.

The second game doesn't seem as significant to the main trilogy plot though. The first was a massive tie-in to the origins of the Rebellion in A New Hope, while from what I hear this just seems to lead on to some Expanded Universe material. Which is great, don't get me wrong, but it just doesn't feel as significant when I look at it that way.

I think this is going to be around the time where the Rebellion loses some of its assets, like Kota. Plus, we actually get to find out what's happening with Yoda, since he went into hiding, and before he goes full crazy muppet. While I agree that most of this game will likely be taking more of a back seat in regards to the main storyline in the Trilogy, as compared to the first game, I'm actually really interested in seeing Starkiller / Proxy / Juno / Kota's storyline wrapped up. This game feels like the story's gonna be a lot closer to them, and I'm actually looking forward to that. Afterall, how will Juno react to the fact that Starkiller's been cloned? Plus we get to see what became of the facility at Kamino, which will be very interesting. I think it has the potential to be more engaging in the relationships of the characters, which could work well for it, as I enjoyed them in the first game, and want to see more of them.

Eh, as a major Star wars fan I was really dissapointed with TFU. But this does look a lot better, and knowing that Starkiller is a clone makes a lot of sense. Plus I have to admit the premiere trailer was the second most badass trailer I've ever seen for a Star Wars product (The first would be the Decieved trailer fr TOR)

Overall this looks like it could be pretty good, so I'll give it a chance.

Yeah but we didn't know that untill we played it :monster:

God knows what the story for this can hold for the Star Wars story.

The original (pirated) version was pretty suck on PC though, in terms of performance and stability, :monster:.

However, the game itself was awesome and, if the controls were snappier and more natural, it'd actually be the best star wars game since KotOR.

The main site's been updated. They've also added a minigame of Starkiller's clone in a tank on Kamino, where you can learn little bits about the old game (his past), and see at least 1 new clip as well.

Here's a link to the Subject 1157 Minigame. Click the spoiler tag for some information.

The new clip that I managed to unlock was of Vader's Tie Fighter flying down to the surface of Kamino. The only one of the interactive things I couldn't get was this:
TFU_Game.png

AUD or "Enter"UD seem to fill in the proper Characters (A & "Enter" displaying the same character), but numbers show up blank instead of insrteing a symbol. As far as I can tell, the code appears to be: AUD54"Enter" (matching the symbols typed with the reverse of the numerical fonts on the countdown timer), but since the numbers won't display when I type them, it fails when I attempt it. If anybody else's got any bright ideas, I'd be happy to hear them.

A little under two days from now the timer will run down again, so expect an update.

Also - I figured out the last puzzle.

1157 Minigame Update (& more below)

Timer bounced around between 2 & 9 hours remaining today, but finally ran out at 2:30 (was originally set for 12:30).

TFU_Timer_Out_6-8-2010.png

It didn't change until I fully reloaded the page (Ctrl+F5). It has 3 new tests, and 2 clips. Timer's reset for 2:30 PM, MST Next week. It looks like this is something that we'll keep keeping up to date with on a weekly basis, as the situation changes. If it continues the same, it'll be updating every Tue, with 7/13/2010 being the last update. (Or possibly a large site change).

TFU_MEDICAL.png

There's now a 2-1B Medical Droid observing you. The vocal recordings state that 1157 has now (mostly) stopped his halucinations, and is becoming aware of where he is, though he's still sedated as a precaution. There are some electrical arcs in the background, due to the electro-static damage talked about earlier. 1157 reaches out during all of the visions now. All the holding tank exterior vocals have also changed, with the Medical Droid speaking to you.

There's a game that requires typing a certain key as quickly as possible until it changes, and pushing the bar to the right. Another memory game (4, 5, 6 instead of 3, 4, 5, this time), and stopping spinning the rings again. Both Audio Clips are unlocked. No passwords this time.

Vision Details:
The visions show Darth Vader Landing on Kamino, and coming to see 1157. He's found in what appears to be a combat training holding area below the floor. Visions on Kota & Juno's ship keep jumping through his head. It's not really clear if these are things that he's seeing with The Force, or if it's just background, though given his capabilities, I would guess the former. When Vader reaches him, the first brief conversation is had (we know that 1157 eventually reaches a point where he's essentially a viable clone of StarKiller):

1157: "The Force, gives me all I need."
Vader: "The Force?"
1157: "The Dark Side... my master..."

Yes. I will enjoy this.

I really enjoyed the first game and if they can keep up the calibre of the first then this will be an awesome game.
Im in agreement about it being the best sw game since kotor mainly due to the fact its one of the few releases that not only try to stay away from the main story but at least has a plotline of its own that doesnt involve showing the clone wars in great detail.

(yes thats right i really fucking hate all those shitty cartoon based clone wars episodes they did to ruin a perfectly good series)

A lot.

I rather enjoyed Genndy Tartakovsky's 2D Clone Wars, though the 3D Series seems to full of bumbling villians, which is my main issue with it.

In the 2D Clone Wars, Grevious was fucking wicked. He was seemingly unstoppable, and killing multiple Jedi left & right on his own, and his hacking cough was only brought about by severe injury from Mace Windu, just prior to Ep III. That series also gives a lot of insight into some of the misc Jedi, and watching it between Ep II & III makes it fairly powerful when you see almost all of the Jedi from the series die in Order 66. It also made Shaak Ti one of my favorite Jedi, and made seeing her in TFU a lot more meaningful, knowing who she was.

Quite excited by this latest trailer. Force Repulse is a wicked cool power. A much different start than I'd initially assumed, but very intriguing, and leaves for some crazy possibilities in the story.

All these game trailers make me wonder why game producers don't become movie directors. They come up with far better stuff =P.

Good point. Writers for games need to learn to write deep and compelling short stories that can fit in 2 hours of film. They got imaginative action sequences down pact at least.

Newest Site Update:

The Vocal clips talk about Vader coming in for inspection tomorrow, so 1157 is definately seeing into the future. They also discuss building him an isolation chamber, creating more proxy droids, and re-inforcing the facility to prevent flight (lol in light of the trailer). The vision tests this time are a super fast stop the spinning orbs on, a free vision, and a maze. (Also - if the site is linked to your faesbuk, you can re-watch any of the clips you unlock, and they also indicate what the proper order for watching them is).

Now here's where it gets more interesting / frightening.

The first vision show him being requested by Vader to destroy proxy droids that are mimicing the appearance of rebel soldiers, and Juno Eclipse. "Starkiller's emotions made him weak. (brief glimpse of him in cuffs, and standing on Dagobah) You must destroy what he created, and you must learn to hate what he loved." It's apparent that he knows he's a clone, and that Vader is training him to embrace the Dark Side again. While it appears that this is unsuccessful, it's a good idea that Vader is learning how to train these memory imprinted clones, and for the others he may be far more successful.

The second, Vader starts by saying, "You are still haunted by visions." (brief glimpse of a vision of the previous game) to which 1157 replies, "Yes, master." Vader responds, "They are the memories of a dead man." (glimpse of something new that hasn't yet happened) "They will fade." I think that 1157 is starting to try to figure out the difference between the past and the future in his visions, and realizing that Vader isn't being entirely truthful with him.

The third vision starts with a clearer look at the future vision he was seeing before, as Vader says, "Starkiller's Jedi mentor has been captured." Visions of an arena, and rancor. 1157 responds, "General Kota..." Vader responds, "Yes. When your training in complete, you will travel to Cato Neimoidia." This explains how he ends up in the gladiatorial arena that we saw in the original trailer. Putting it together with the latest trailer, he might head there to attempt to save Kota after he escapes the facility.

I'm wondering if 1157 going rogue (to some degree) isn't a part of Vader's plan to fully turn one of the other Starkiller clones to the Dark Side, by sending them after him... I'm still curious to see if he goes to Dagobah, or finds Yoda before he goes to Cato Neimoidia, because in the teaser he was hearing conflicting voices between Vader & Yoda. Also - the idea of learning bits of the story in fragmented pieces is really interesting.
