Gaming Backlog

ForceStealer

Double Growth
So this is partially for my own benefit to schedule out my fairly extensive gaming backlog (which I have nonetheless put a significant dent in this last six months), but I figured it could be a fun exercise and likely extend all of our backlogs as we remind each other of or recommend to certain games. So here goes (besides the division between priority and low priority, these are not in any order):

Priority
  • Torchlight II - I've put several hours in with two characters already, but I still haven't actually finished it
  • Nier - Had this for awhile and I keep getting distracted, I have liked what I've played so far, the music is great and it is fun, but it has yet to really "suck me in."
  • Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands - picked this up in a Steam Sale, I really liked the trilogy. I'm already not crazy about the changes, but it's still fun to be the with the Prince again, I'll finish it.
  • Baldur's Gate II - Finally got this on a great gog.com sale a few weeks ago. Obviously everyone has absolutely raved about this game. Hopefully it deserves the hype. Also it should be interesting now that I know how dungeon and dragons work which I did not when I tried Icewind Dale II as a kid.

Replays
  • Uncharted 3 - when my first PS3 died I lost credit for having beat the game (including the trophies as I hadn't synced). So I 'd like to replay it on Hard since I'm replaying it anyway.
  • Armored Core and Project Phantasma - just last week I came back into possession of these fantastic games from the 90s. I'm looking forward to playing through them again. I sunk HOURS into them as a kid, but was never all that good and it's been a long time. (it's even been a long time since I've played AC4 and for Answer on PS3) I wanna see if I'll be any better with age, or just worse because of the convoluted, archaic control scheme.
  • Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones - to show Avec.

Lower Priority
  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution - started a game awhile ago and was distracted by Skyrim, never went back.
  • Xenogears - I finally made significant progress - a good 20 to 30 hours - in this game, and my PS3 died and I lost it and it has kinda killed my motivation ever since.
  • Vagrant Story - have always wanted to play this. I have it on PS3, but I haven't gotten far.
  • Parasite Eve - everything I said about Vagrant Story
  • The Witcher 2 - Got this when it came out and played pretty far, but it got lost in the shuffle and I basically have to restart it.
  • Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 - I loved the first Red Alert games. The demo of this never interested me but I did pick up during one of the dreaded Steam Holiday sales. So I'd like to get through it.
  • Bioshock Infinite - I know this is hugely popular, not really my thing, but it came free with my new video card. I played about an hour and a half so far. Will have to get back to it.
The Last Remnant - I remember being interested in this before it came out and it got lackluster reviews, but again, deep discount sale.
  • Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind - Huge fan of Oblivion and Skyrim, and wanted to see the first one all the cool kids like to say is better. I got a nice overhaul mod and played about 6 hours, but I haven't really gotten anywhere in it yet.
  • Final Fantasy I - PSP version, got a good 10-15 hours in, got lost, stopped.
  • Final Fantasy II - PSP version. Started, but I'm not too far.
  • Lunar Silver Star Harmony - PSP version, always heard high praise for this game. I'm a few hours in.
  • FFIV: The After Years - I hear not-so-great things...but I got the Complete Collection and did just finish 4 so...we'll see.
  • And someday, someday, I will finally finish Chrono Trigger. I've started it a million times.
  • Castlevania Symphony of the Night - I've always wanted to play this too.

Replay
  • Phantasy Star IV - yet another purchase from a Steam Sale, and one of my favorite RPGs from when I was a kid.
[*]Xenosaga III - I love this series and I've replayed the first several times, but never the third.
  • Final Fantasy Tactics - One of my favorite games of all time, and I'd love to a do a playthrough were I fully take advantage of things like errands and what not.

This feels like the year to make progress on this because there aren't too many releases I feel real eager for. When the X HD Rerelease comes out X-2 will be added to this list. And I'll probably get Lightning Returns. But that's all I expect as of now.
I think the problem is how many are low priority, I never know which way to go. The high priority ones are easier.
Of course, Skyrim is an ever-present fixture that could suck me in at any time. Also I have my modded-up version of FFVII to play through some time.

Howabout you? :monster:

Ive been meaning to get my 3DS out after about a year. Might try to get a bulk order of DS games on ebay.

Still have Skyward Sword to play

The episodic format was what really turned me off to The After Years. I got fed up with waiting a week to be doled out the next little piece of the game, not to mention it was easier to overanalyze what little I had. But if it's all in one package it could be a more pleasant experience.

Organized my Steam library into completed and uncompleted. My goal is to complete them all, some I am honestly dreading. Still set a goal, meet a goal. Completed games aren't all in the same category got classics (old games), time killers (usually retro style games), completed (done, but no real lasting impact), and of course one for games that have no true end (MMOs, team shooters, etc).

As for my more immediate backlog of new (to me) games, LA Noire, Xenoblade, Kingdom Hearts 3d, FF13 1 and 2.

Replays I am thinking about Zelda Twilight Princess (Gamecube, fuck the Wii version), Civ 2 Test of Time edition, Metroid Prime, Dragon Quest 8 (best rpg of that gen), Morrowind.

I love your list so far Force. I do recommend bumping Bioshock Infinite up on your list though. It's my only vote for game of the year right now, even considering future titles.

If you want to play TAY all at once, Get FFIV: TCC. It also has the original IV and a new side game called FFIV: Interlude, which takes place soon after IV.

My backlog isn't nearly as extensive.

Priority

  • Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep - I'm currently working through the 3rd of 3 campaigns. I probably have about 10 hours left, maybe less, judging by how long the other two campaigns took me to complete. I really like this game. I was playing it last fall, and then let it slide off my radar for a while. As soon as I picked it up again, I was reminded of how much fun the combat system can be.
  • FFXIII - I'm also in the middle of my second playthrough of this game. I'm getting pretty close to the point at which you go down to Gran Pulse. I was really enjoying my second go at this, but in between moving and getting back into Kingdom Hearts, as well as piddling around with other games, I kind of let it slide. I'll probably go back to it in earnest after beating KH. I don't know if I'll get to another playthrough of XIII-2 before LR comes out, but we'll see.
  • Torchlight II - same deal as Force. I've played about 25 hours split between two characters (maybe it's more now, I don't know, I haven't looked at the time in a while), but have yet to finish the main storyline (as loose of a term as that might be, haha). It's been fun playing it though, sometimes with just Force, and sometimes with a party of 4.

Lower Priority

  • Dissidia 012 - I very briefly started this game last fall, but it didn't suck me in, and I promptly was sucked into KH. So I need to just go ahead and finish it. Apparently that shouldn't take me too terribly long, if I just play the characters I'm most interested in.
  • FFIV - Kind of interested in this, as I just saw Force beat it a few days ago. It looks amazing on the PSP, and I'm kind of in the mood for another basic JRPG.
  • Bastion - picked this one up during a Steam sale a long time ago, but haven't gotten around to actually playing it. It looks like fun, and I know that it's short, so I should just sit down and do it sometime.
  • Fallout 3 - started a game during the Spring of '12, but was almost immediately sucked into Skyrim, from which I never looked back.

That's really everything I can think of right now. Some of the games on Force's backlog interest me, but I'm definitely content to watch him play them instead of also playing them myself.

Great Old One
* Uncharted 2. I'm about 5 chapters in or something.
* Final Fantasy IX. Yeah I need to finish the last 1/3 of the game.
* Uncharted 3 on Crushing. I started, but I'll never be able to finish it :P
* Tomb Raider something for PS3. My bf bought it for me last year. Barely started.
* LA Noire. I bought it last year but have barely started, I need to restart.
* The new Lara Croft game. I have to buy it first though. Saving it for summer.
* SSX 2012. I bought it for XBOX360 but my bf has played on my game, so I'd like to start it again, this time for PS3 to get the trophies. I'm thinking of ordering it cheap online.

Games I started but I'm not prioritizing

* Chrono Trigger (played it before)
* FFVI (same as above)

I've had the opposite effect with Skyrim. Got distracted by some other game and never got back to it. It's a really time consuming game!

My priority atm are The Witcher 2, which I've also left behind, midway into the game...it's such a rich game I felt kind of guilty abandoning it :(
My other priorities are Bioshock infinite (Which I've got lying around my desk and have not even started playing!), MGS HD (I've only finished MGS SE) and MG Rising.
Lower Priority is to get back to Skyrim. Maybe when I've got holidays.

EDIT: oh and I forgot, another priority of mine is to download the new Mass Effect 3* DLC. :)

lolol

Games I Am Playing/Going to Play Very Soon:
Saints Row 2
Starcraft II
Call of Duty games lol what
Mass Effect 3 multiplayer lol what
Tomb Raider (just being a completionist)
Bioshock Infinite

Games I Might Finish
Jade Empire
Company of Heroes
Diablo III

Games I Have Installed But Will Likely Never Be Finished
Alpha Protocol (THAT FUCKING HELICOPTER)
Assassins Creed II (didn't really grab my attention like the first one did)
Bully (it's wierd because I actually really, really like this game)
Dead Space (a very linear sequence of shocks and incidental music)
Deadlight (lolSteveBlum in a Steve Blum role. Fun puzzling/platforming, though!)
Deus Ex: GOTY (can't really get past how everything looks like ass)
Deus Ex: Human Revolution - The Missing Link (dunno why I haven't gotten back into it, tbqh)
Dustforce (another game I really like but because of the insane difficulty I probably will never be capable of 100% finishing it)
TESV: Skyrim (once I realised that the game was little more than a big empty child's sandbox and very elaborate finger-puppet acts involving cardboard NPCs, I found myself enjoying it less and less and stopped giving a shit about the story. Really could not get all that invested in it anymore, just a fun diversion every now and then when I have absolutely all the time in the world to spare - and that doesn't happen a lot these days)
Fallout: New Vegas (I love the game to death but by god damn Dead Money is a fucking depressing DLC)
Hitman 2: Silent Assassin (lolwat?)
Hitman: Code 47 (see: Hitman 2: Silent Assassin)
Metro 2033 (Absolutely brilliant game but I hit a brick wall)
Psychonauts (It's a great game imo but... eh)
Serious Sam 3: BFE (another fun diversion esp for co-op but plot was already spoiled on me through various playthroughs)
Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter
Star Wars: Empire At War Gold (Really fun! But odd unit management/distribution mechanics sort of threw me off)
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (fucking PC errors. Ubisoft just makes terrible ports in general and needs to fuck right off with lack of windowed support)
Trine
Trine 2 (both games I actually really, really like)
Unreal Tournament 3: Black Edition (just bought it on a whim to play with a couple irl friends)
The Witcher: Enhanced Edition (yeah I haven't touched that one for a bajillion years)

Games I Actively Uninstalled/Games That I Own But CBA Installing At All:
Assassins Creed (uninstalled)
Bastion
Batman: Arkham City
Beyond Good & Evil
Borderlands (uninstalled)
Crysis + Warhead + Wars (all bored the shit out of me and crashed multiple times)
Deus Ex: Invisible War
Dota 2 (trying to install it just crashes my client. Why bother going to the trouble?)
Dreamfall: The Longest Journey
Hitman: Blood Money
Left 4 Dead (uninstalled)
The Longest Journey
Mirror's Edge (couldn't run properly, uninstalled)
Neverwinter Nights 2: Platinum
Portal (uninstalled)
Rock of Ages
S.T.A.L.K.E.R (Call of Pripryat, Clear Sky, Shadow of Chernobyl)
Saints Row: The Third (I might get around to it sometime, actually)
Spec Ops: The Line (Actively uninstalled it after completion. I wasn't all that incredibly impressed by the meta bullshit going on throughout the game, ie. "HURR HURR LOOK AT YOU AS A PLAYER TRYING TO BE WAR HERO HOW AWFUL A HUMAN BEING YOU ARE HURR HURR")
Super Monday Night Combat
Titan Quest (kind of boring dungeon crawler)
Tomb Raider (Anniversary, Legend, Underworld) (lolololol they aren't even that great)
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II (totally forgot I had this)

Also it should be interesting now that I know how dungeon and dragons work which I did not when I tried Icewind Dale II as a kid.

The game is most definitely worth the hype, is one of the greatest games of all time, arguably the second greatest Bioware game of all time behind KoTOR and huge influence for ME and DA.

Priority

Bioshock Infinite - Got a bit sidetrack in the past few days with FFIX so need to get back to it and finish it.

Borderlands 2 - Got tired of dying a lot that I stopped playing it for a while, I still much finish it.

The Old Republic - I still haven't been able to play that game, it seems like the universe is determined I never play it.

Halo 4 - Finished the first mission, really need to get back to it.

Lower Priority

Tomb Raider - Finishing all the side stuff.

Chrono Trigger - I only played about an hour of it, I really want to do a full playthrough eventually.

FFVII - Went as far as Don Corneo's mansion, I want to finish my first full playthrough of it.

Uncharted 2 on Normal/Hard/Crushing - I'm really not looking forward to Hard and Crushing.

Saints Row 2 and 3 - I'm gonna play them eventually Ami.

The Walking Dead - Once I'm arsed I'll buy the episodes on PSN.

My priorities shift with the day but so far...

Game's I've Played that I'll actually get back into

Final Fantasy VI: The first time I got this game my emulator did weird things and I stopped right before the end of the world. So I'm at it again, but with a walkthrough because I want to do a 100% playthrough this time.

Final Fantasy IV: This is mostly an availability thing, I don't have access to a DS. Also... it's a gameplay thing- it's not that fun. If I play it again, I'll probably need to watch something while playing or whatever.

Assassin's Creed II: I do really enjoy this game, and got a few hours in. Don't even remember why I stopped, probably when I tried to get every single collectible before story progressing but devolved into killing minstrels.

Deus ex Human Revolution: I know people told me to finish this game, but it gives me a major headache. I can't play for any extended amount of time. Also I chose the stealth route but I suck at stealth.

LA Noire: This game looks fascinating, but. Actually I don't know what to finish after the but. I just haven't gotten that far into it.

Bioshock II: I think FPS give me headaches in general, but I completed the first one because I loved it so much. I heard the second wasn't as good so rather than go through it and have this as my last impression of the series I opted out. But when I eventually get infinite I figured I might as well go through II.

Shadow of Colossus: I feel terrible for not completing this one. I blame going back to PSII awkward controls and not doing to well with it.

Games I have but haven't played yet but want too:

A list goes on forever but: Asura's Wrath, Alpha Protocol, The Walking Dead (I watched three complete playthroughs so...), Outland, Sleeping Dogs,

Force, for gods sake put Deus Ex: Human Revolution into that high priority list! That game is fantastic! (Takes a bit to get into it but it really really is, the atmosphere by way of setting is on par with Midgar for me).

@Satsu: play ACII man, it's so much better than the first.

@Fangu - YOU NEED TO MASS EFFECT. You promised me you'd Mass Effect this summer last year and you must do it!! Purease.

Anyway, here's mine:

Avatar: The Game
Borderlands
Dark Souls
Darksiders II
Dead Space 2
Doom 3 HD Re-release
Fallout 3
GTA: IV
Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest
Lord of the Rings: The War in the North
Lost Planet 2
Red Dead Redemption
Singularity
SSX
Star Ocean: The Last Hope International
TES IV: Oblivion

^I've played all of those at least once, got bored and never went back to them. That list is essentially PS3 games I have that I can't be bothered playing for whatever reason. GTA IV is a funny one because I was obsessed with the GTA's on PS2, but I can't handle the ridiculously sluggish movement and general slowness in that or Red Dead Redemption on PS3. FFS Rockstar, speed up your characters.

Yeah but it's gonna end up costing me more anyway, as I'll have to pay the same amount in customs. >_> Might as well buy it in Norway. Or, buy it online and send it to one of you to send to me :monster:

# New games I have & want to play:

XCom: enemy unknown

It's a great game but I just can't master it, I'm kicking ass in the missions but I just can't manage my base properly, and no amount of guides seem to help me. :(
But I do want to finish it some day.

Witcher 2
It took me 6 days to download this bitch, 6 freaking days!
I played on it for 9 hours according to steam. >.<
Don't get me wrong its a great game but I spent along time tweaking the graphics to get it to run smoothly, by the time I was done I had just lost interest. I keep meaning to start a new game but I know that it'll be a massive time sink and I just can't bring myself to commit to it.

Skyrim.
I got 100% of the trophies for the PS3 version, and when I myself my first gaming PC this was the first game I got. I spent along time just roaming the map picking flowers and mastering my alchemy & enchanting skills, plus building my own home with the heathfire DLC. Once I had my home the way I liked it and had a pimped out set of custom mage clothes I realised: "Doesn't this game have dragons in it?" I had played the game for 60 hours without ever getting any shouts or even triggering dragons by doing the first quest. >.<. I was playing Skyrim when My PC died, I'm been afraid to go back to since getting it fixed.

# Old games I want to go back to:

FF8
Cards. Cards & Quistis. I want to see them again. *nostalgia*
(The 15 year old me had a huge crush on Quistis. Mmmmmm....)

Armored Core
Loved the PS1 & PS2 games.
The newer ones were awful. At least the controls and menus were.

Bioshock
Still think the first one is the best in the series, if you haven't played the original yet would you kindly pick up a copy and try it out. ;)

Deus Ex
I'm waiting for a steam sale to get the entire package, I want to try out the original as I've heard it's depth is mindblowing. I've only played Human revolution for PS3. (Ending was a let down but the game was awesome.)

Colony Wars
They don't make 'em like this anymore. Literally. :sigh:
The soundtrack gives me smiles. :headbang:

# What I will be playing this weekend:

Crysis 3:
I've just finished Crysis 2 on the hardest difficulty & ordered C3 from Amazon, it should come by tomorrow so I'll be playing on that this weekend. :monster:

I also need to get hold of a copy of FFXII and play for the first time.

Also I should probably get hold of Mass Effects 1, 2 and 3. Oh and the latest Tomb Raider.

But first I've got to finish Luigis Mansion 2.

Holy crap! What kind of horrible internet service do you put up with? I've had intermittent times of slow internet here and there, and that was enough to make me want to punch a baby. If I had to deal with internet that made it take 6 DAYS to dl a game, I'd probably want to punch two babies. And, I don't know, maybe a kitten.
