Gaming Magazines from the late 90s

Story time. I went into a used cds/dvds/games store and they had a little rack with magazines on it that said 'please take them, they are free'. So I looked through them and realised they were all from the late 90s. Mainly around the time FF7 and Tactics came out.

I instantly thought "Hey, there might be some cool information in these." Grabbing them all up, I brought them home.

So here's the jems that I found. Some are informational, like 'preview' stuff or interviews. Other stuff is just so funny you just have to read it yourself. Here it goes...

While I played my Genesis plenty, I wasn't at all in the gaming scene until I played FF7, so it's interesting to see the anticipation it had building up to it, thanks! :monster:

Why don't you guys throw these finds up on the frontpage? I don't imagine there's many copies of this kind of thing left in existence any more and people will rightly be keen to see it :monster:

Also that is the derpiest picture of Cloud that I have ever seen. evar.

I have a literal fetish for old video game magazines, homies. My ideal sexual experience involves a partner and I vigorously rubbing the pages of a circa 1997 Electronic Monthly magazine all over each others bodies.

I have two really old magazine pages taped up on my wall of a preview of FFIX before it came out. xD It's kind of amusing to look at. All of these you've posted are awesome to read too. :')

They're probably trying to stall you until they can print more copies of the t-shirts now that they know one of those coupons is still around!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the PS1 have more 2D games proportionally than its same gen counterparts?

Also, to the J.G. Mesa page- Holy crap. That's all sorts of loopy.

Forgot what I did with all my magazines, I gave 'em away or recycle-binned them. $100s of dollars worth. I think I stopped buying them around the time FFVII came out though. One of my last gaming magazines was a guide to FFVII up to the point where you use a chocobo to beat the Midgar Zolom. My first time through the game, I stupidly sold the Chocobo materia thing that you need to call a chocobo before I even crossed the Midgar Zolom area. I did not realise you had to get off your chocobo to enter the cave =p.

Wow, that reminds me of alllll the Nintendo Power magazines my family collected since 1990. Looking at this makes me wish we collected the magazines that showed off the PS games too. What a great find Brooke! <3

Holy shit i remember that E3 issue, i think i still have it somewhere at my parents house if they didnt throw all my junk away.
I think we should all try to compile as many old Video game magazines as we can and upload them. That would be epic.

Great job brooke :>

I got into bed at 5 in the morning but I still couldn't sleep so I started reading this site on my phone. I got to the 'Sympathy card' and the 'Sephiroth/Fiddler Crab/Castlevania' pic and just got hysterical...which is even worse at 5 in the morning when you're trying to be quiet.

I woke my boyfriend up, he asked what I was laughing at and all I could manage was 'the internet'. I had to get up again and go and watch the seagulls to calm down.

This thread has made me nostalgic.....remember when you could just put a game in a console and not have to wait 20 minutes to install it and for an update that doesn't seem to do anything except install Polish when you don't even speak it? Remember when you'd get up early before school just to play 10 minutes of your favorite game, and then spend the all day dreaming about it? Remember when there was a sense of fun and wonderment before the adult world took a shit inside of your soul?

Octorawk remembers. *sniff*

I love you brooke

I concur.

Wow, I just suffered a mild concussion from the nostalgia bomb that landed right next to me. Brb, bleeding from the ears and crying tears of sadness and joy.
