Just reuploaded all the pics to imageshack. For a second I thought all the thanks were going to disappear and I was like nooooooooo. XP

Also added a preview for Zelda and Quest 64.

My favourite mags were

CVG (now computerandvideogames.com but its not the same) - cheap but cheerful, funny too. The middle pages were black ink on yellow paper with copies of readers drawings 'Drawinz wot you dun' which was just plain hilarious, most of the pics made 'Sefiros from Castlevania' there look like Botticelli's Birth of Venus.

Then there was Super Play (snes) which then became N64 magazine and later NGC (gamecube)

This was funny too, didn't take itself too seriously. They had a section called 'Game Spong' for people who were stuck (in the days pre-internet!) which later became 'Dr Kitts'. "Dr Kitts would do anything for love...but he wont do that."

Oh and they had an RPG review section where the reviews were done by a Wizard, and the score was based on 'Beards out of 10'

I used to get the Official UK Playstation magazine, before it went shit (decided to follow suit with the majority of the game mags at the time and fill it with girls in bikinis in an attempt to be FHM or something- nothing wrong with nudy women, but it doesn't make up for a complete lack of good journalism)

Now I just go on Eurogamer, which is pretty good, but its just not the same as reading a game mag on the bus home from school with a mars bar and a can of coke. ;_;

I used to read EGM all the time, but the revival feels like it's missing something. I pick up the odd Gamer Informer for the pictures (and because I get a discount on it). The magazines just don't work the way they used to because I can find 10x the amount of reviews online for free. And there's a chance I might trust those ones more.

I think the first gaming mag I ever got was from '94 - it was one of the much earlier GI issues, which I got for Christmas when my mom bought me my Genesis (and the GI subscription to boot) at Funcoland (yeah, Omega remembers Funcoland).

I don't know/remember how far back my logs go now, since I know I lost/got rid of/had a bunch of the issues stolen.

PS: Gamepro always sucked, EGM and GI have always been much better (GI a bit more than EGM)

ed: I also vaguely remember reading GI's review of FFVI (back when it was III), and I think I may still have part three of Gamepro's FFVI walkthrough, which I got because it had MK3 on the cover (Sub-Zero without the mask!) and had the movelist for X-Men: Children of the Atom.

Maaaaan.... nostalgia. I had more video game magazines than I care to remember. I still remember reading about FFVIII in the Official UK Playstation Magazine. How awesome the desert prison sounded, how the Moombas could trace you by licking your blood, how there was a character called Kistic Tulip, and how this all turned out to be bollox. :P
However, over the years, the wear and tear took their toll and my mum kept forcing me to chuck 'em out as they were taking up space. I think I've still got some in the attic, but for the most part my collection is lost in the annals of time.

I also used to collect the Sonic the Comic. That was teh shiz. For a children's comic, it had some brilliant writing and characters. I felt it did more with the Sonic universe than any of the video-games or cartoon series. Again, I really wish I'd kept hold of them, as well. I should have issues with my mother for all the classic memorabilia she made me chuck out.

Well....most of that was true. Except Septic Tulip.

I remember one issue where Robotnik said something like 'aGGH....I can't stand this, I'd rather watch a whole episode of El Dorado!'

GIMMIE! PLEASE! CAN YOU SELL IT TO ME?!?!?!

Does anybody want more stuff? Like more non-FF stuff? Like the Zelda or Quest 64? They are really all from 96-98, so if there's a game that came out around then I can look to see if there are any articles. I think there's an FF8 preview somewhere too that I should put up sometime.

Zelda64 is actually quite relevant again these days, with the re-release / port of it on the 3DS.

The ff8 preview would be great :>
Have anything for Duke Nukem or some of the not so famous Square stuff from back then?

The real question here is "could you take FFVII as seriously with THIS as Cloud" ?

Also, that shot of Cloud should be the main image for the Frontpage poast. It will certainly draw a crowd.

What I want to know is how they used official art for all the other characters and Cloud looks...homemade?
