Well I just remembered my male friends being put off by FFX-2 because they didn't like the idea of playing as a girl.

That's why I started this poll

It doesn't make any difference to me. It's all about the content. FFX-2 sucked because it was a lolanimu story, not because the lead was a chick.

I just naturally always preferred women characters, period. Something about their grace and agility. Heavenly Sword may have had mediocre reviews, but I loved it, and the lead was fucking awesome.

Then there's Tenchu. Ayame is overwhelmingly much cooler than Rikimaru.

Hell, I'm a guy. Of course I'm gonna prefer to USE women. :monster:

FFX-2 was a poor excuse to use female leads anyway. It's not the best example by a mile.

Doesn't matter for me. Most games I played with female leads were adventure games, because they tend to have more mad MacGyver skillz. :duhard:

First-person, I don't care. Third person, I prefer women - after all, you're the one that has to look at ass all the time, :monster:.

^ This. I don't give a damn as long as I enjoy the game for what it's worth.

I don't prefer one over the other, but the best character ever is female. Samus.

Makes no difference to me. And yeah, I thought more people were turned off of FFX-2 by the super girl-power charlie's angels stuff than the fact that the lead was female.

I don't know, I remember seeing a lot of "I can't play as a girl, how I am supposed to relate to that?"

Eh, it doesn't really matter. I enjoy playing as both.

I find that most of the games I own have dude leads, but I don't really care either way so long the game is good.

Though, the image of a kick-ass female lead sounds so much more appealing than kick-ass male lead. I guess that's due in part to the fact that I more often play as the male rather than the female. So... eh, kinda contradicting myself but whatever :monster:

Doesn't really matter to me, so long as the game has a good story and is fun to play, i never really cared much for what gender i am playing as. I can relate to either male, or female characters, as long as the game itself is well thought out.

I spent most of my time in FF6 walking around as Celes. ;) And in Xenosaga, surprise surprise, KOS-MOS (largely because she had the coolest map-item-destruction moves).

fixxed, it's not like there's a lot of choice, :monster:. I can only think of 5 titles with a female lead: FFX-2, FFVI / XII (but they both count only for half since both don't have a defined main character), Tomb Raider, those Samus games, and the upcoming XIII.

I spent most the time I could as Lilika in rogue galaxy, but only when she was very important to the team, and mainly because she's got a very awesome costume :monster: other than that, Deego or Steve or just Jaster.

I thought that Terra being the main character in 6 was obvious.

Only in that it was the one that one begins with in the game and who is a large factor in the main story - the other characters however take more of a leading role in the game, and each have their own storyline, which are given a lot more time than the characters in most post-XI games. XII's supposed main character (Vaan) played, relatively to the other characters in the story, a very small role, hence why I count that under the same category (albeit roughly).

I lol @the relating to the characters bit. I've never been able to relate to 3d characters who can fly and cut buildings in half and shit.

All that matters to me is that I have fun and that the lead doesn't annoy the crap out of me. :monster:

Well as long as they have good character development and such, they can cut buildings with pyrotechnics in the distance with a guitar solo for all I care.

A crumbling city due to a deafening guitar solo in the heart of the rustling streets... "My mother died."

Yar, lame.
