All I can make out of this second 3 minute video is that there's some party that they were not invited so they decided to steal the party planner's porn while the local biker gang get in the way of things and there's lots of matrix bullet time effects with tablets while stealing porn.

First 8 mins of Ghost in the Shell: Arise - make sure to turn on the Closed Captions if you're an English speaker who isn't fluent in Japanese.

Synopsis of the first two episodes:

The anime's story is set in 2027, one year after the end of the fourth non-nuclear war. Newport City is still reeling from the war's aftermath when it suffers a bombing caused by a self-propelled mine. Then, a military officer implicated in arms-dealing bribes is gunned down.

During the investigation, Public Security Section 9's Daisuke Aramaki encounters Motoko Kusanagi, the cyborg wizard-level hacker assigned to the military's Secret Unit 501. Batou, a man with the "eye that does not sleep," suspects that Kusanagi is the one behind the bombing. The Niihama Prefectural Police detective Togusa is pursuing his own dual cases of the shooting death and a prostitute's murder. Motoko herself is being watched by Secret Unit 501's head Kurutsu and cyborg agents.

Watched the pilot, it was pretty decent. Did they retcon Motoko being given a cybernetic body from a plane crash (I believe that's what they were saying in 2nd Gig) and just said she's had a cyber body since being born?

I don't mind Arise too much at this point. I felt the opening episodes were fairly weak (at least, by the gold standard of SAC :monster:) but they played up an interesting psychological angle to it and it looks like the storytelling has definitely hit its stride.

Still don't like some of the goofier designs (Borma's face looks like one of those hilarious meme faces and Aramaki literally looks like a balding chimpanzee) but most of the others look nice in motion.

Since a lot of anime remakes are getting the more direct manga translations lately (see: FMA Brotherhood, JoJo, Sailor Moon) I'm wondering how long it will take GITS to do the same. It would be awesome if they did, I've been hooked ever since I saw the PS1 game. It felt very Gunsmith Cats.

Still bothered that they turned Motoko into a friggin Olson twin lollypop head. And the fringe, it's toooo short it looks baaaad.

Looks like there's gonna be a new movie, and given that it's by I.G. it makes sense that it'll be capping off Arise The same way that Solid State Society capped off SAC.

I really need to watch through all of Arise...
Holy shit, that last shot of all the cybernetic shells of Motoko's main body. What the hell!?

Uhmmmm....Can I watch Stand Alone Complex and gather (for the most part) everything that I need to know in order to understand Arise? I have SAC because I received it as a Christmas gift years ago. Should I watch it first or should I go find the original movie? :|

Stand Alone Complex and Arise are, as far as I remember, completely separate continuities. Otherwise, Arise is partly an origin story series for Section 9 anyway, so you certainly don't need to get one to watch the other.

The Oshii films are definitely a separate continuity, but both SAC and the films are fantastic in their own rights, for differing reasons.
