It's like Monster Hunter (apparently, I've never played MH), only with transforming weapons. Multi-player (either with other players or AI characters) monster hunting game for the PSP, out in Japan on 4th February. I don't think they've said anything about an English release, but they've registered the trademark in the US.

It's set over 50 years in the future, when mankind are on the brink of destruction because of monsters called "Aragami". Conventional weapons don't work against them, and the only ones who can defeat them are the God Eaters of the title, who use special biological weapons ("Jinki"/God Machines) made with Oracle cells, the same ones responsible for creating the Aragami.

Trailer:

Japanese demo (downloaded over 1000000 times as of the start of January) available on the Japanese PSN or from the official site:

The final game will be improved from the demo (aspects such as the camera)

Ho shit, this looks amazing. Thanks for the post, man.

I'm really interested in this. Love the art style here, and the general atmosphere.

Then download the demo and play it with me once I clear some space and redownload it :awesome: The world and liking the gameplay more than I expected made me want to try to full game.

The demo includes 5 tutorial missions, 4 special missions, and one 'challenge mission' after you've finished them all. You can carry your character, all the items you get, weapons you upgrade, etc. over to the full game (if you get the Japanese one, obviously). But the challenge mission can't be played with AI characters, and is murder if you try it on your own (I tried it :monster:) since it's against the harder enemies in the demo, 3 at once. Also I only figured out how to use the shield while being murdered on that mission :awesome:

Thanks, I was ignoring this thread but now that you put in the LTD thread, I am obligated to respond. :awesome:

I have Monster Hunter and I love it, so this game looks really appealing to me. Thanks again for posting this.

I've never played Monster Hunter, but I should probably get more PSP games. I only own four, and only two of those four I've actually beat.

I should get both MH and this, if it's available for a system I own and in Engrish.

However, swords aren't big enough.

I'm going to make a video game where a sword flails around with a person to kill monsters, btw.

As interesting as this game could shape out to be, the trailer would get more points in presentation if the characters weren't fighting the same two monsters (or rather, multiple identical versions of the same two monsters or whatever) over and over again.

*CUTSCENE OF COOL LOOKING BATTLE WITH RED MONSTER*

*7 MORE CUTSCENES OF DECREASINGLY COOL LOOKING BATTLES WITH SAME RED MONSTER*

*A SIMILAR LOOKING BLUE MONSTER EVERY NOW AND THEN*

I'm hoping there will be more variety for the monsters and environments. It's supposed to have 100/more missions, but there's only 9 types of monsters on the official site. Most of the battle scenes in the trailer (in the church and the ruined city) are the same location, and the site only lists three. I'd like to see more types in the final game.

I would buy it :awesome:

This, now you mention it. Especially if it's the same monster, supposed to represent a different one, and they have the exact same set of moves.

Retexturings of monsters in the FF games wasn't my thing either.
