Every so often I go through a phase of watching documentaries. Actually watched 3 today lol.

Has anyone seen any they would recommend, on any topic

Here are a few I've enjoyed.
BBC Storyville - The Pirate Bay
BBC Storyville - How hackers changed the world
BBC Storyville - Google and the World Brain
King of Kong
BBC Wonders series

Not a documentary, but David Fincher's Zodiac is a really great re-enactment of the zodiac case, and great movie

Octo

KULT OF KERMITU
AKA
Octo, Octorawk, Clarky Cat, Kissmammal2000
There was a documentary series in 1999 on Channel 4 called Shanghai Vice, and despite the sleazy sounding title it was about general life in Shanghai at the turn of the millenium. I can't quite put my finger on what made it so good, but I'd love to see it again. Ian Holm narrated it....I'm going to have to track it down.

Super Mario

IT'S A ME!
AKA
Jesse McCree. I feel like a New Man
The Real Sopranos
The Godfather and the mafia

Good mafia stories man. I just love documentaries on the mafia in general <3

I really like his other work, but this is great. Road trip docs are great.

Oh, Russell Brand did a nice On The Road doc, travelling the america talking about jack kerouac

PhantomSephiroth

Pilot of the Sephiroth_Zero
AKA
That damn sephiroth woman
Killing for a living serie wich I can't find anymore.

Prehisroric predator is pretty neat too.

This is my favorite so far

Do any of you know any good documentaries about North Korea?

I've watched loads, the best being one that followed several people as they tried to escape to south korea after they managed to actually get out of there. IIRC a previously north korean woman had given birth and raised her child in China and developed a Mandarin dialect so convincing that she was able to get a fake passport and simply board a plane, whereas others took the traditional trip through cambodia orchestrated by some south korean church to get there.

Do you know the name of that doc? Sounds interesting.

I've been on a bit of a documentary kick lately.

Dear Zachary. If you don't cry at least once watching it, you're not human. It's about a guy who was shot by a psycho bitch. His friend goes on a journey to talk to all of his friends and family. There's alot more to it, but I'll leave that to you to discover.

Blackfish. A doc about what really goes on at Seaworld, following a series of deaths. Pretty shocking stuff, especially having seen the press releases over the years putting blame on the trainers.

The Greatest Movie Ever Sold. Morgan Spurlock's fun documentary about the way the advertising industry works, completely funded by product placement.

Hot Coffee. Documentary that starts off looking at the perceived suing culture in america, but it turns into more of an exploration of the legal system's relationship with businesses, and how it fucks people over.

Indeed I do, I found it on YouTube. I watched a much better quality version at the time, but it's no longer on iPlayer. Also for some reason it's in 4:3 and the original was in widescreen.

EDIT: Can I take this moment to push people to watch Bridegroom please? Don't watch trailers, they don't do any justice to it. It's about two men in a relationship in the US and the reaction of the family after one of them dies. Seriously everyone needs to watch it.

I saw that. I was trying to write a character in bereavement counseling. Pretty interesting.
