There are two things that I consider: narrative and tech.
Not like I think anyone pays close attention to me on here, but anyone who has read my posts knows that I'm a strong proponent for a trilogy. I believe that the technology of the PS5 can allow Square to produce the FFVII saga, in full, over the course of three games.
So that leaves us with: how long will it take? If they knocked out the majority of Remake in 2.5-3 years (which seems to be the consensus after bringing everything in house), I don't see any reason why each game shouldn't take three years to make. Maybe four? With the battle system in place I believe it won't take as long, and I am not counting on any recycled assets being used at all. These games are built from scratch.
So that leaves us... late 2023 for part II, probably. And then... late 2026/early 2027 to wrap this thing up in a neat bow in time for the games thirtieth anniversary.
