If any one has the first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, it is apparently worth up to $34,000 (presumably AUD). On page 53 there is an accidental repetition of "1 wand". Can I has moneys for telling you this? Kthxbye.

So I grabbed my book, it ancient and tattered---bearing the original cover, of course---and flipped to p.53, full of hope, and well...

Much love to you for reviving a wonderful thread. I get an urge to indulge in all things Harry Potter related at least once a year.

In my shop we're selling three different types of book covers of Harry Potter. And it's made me wonder what the value of the original covers might be one day. I mean, there's clearly an abundance of those books across many a persons' homes as of now, of course, but I've no doubt some people will still get away with selling such books for hundreds online (eBay clickbait).

On another note, I'm still reading Prisoner of Azkaban (I so rarely find the time - and it's gotta be at the right time, when the world is asleep but you're awake kind of thing) - just 2 more chapters to go. One of my favourite books, easily.

I loved the books when I read them separately as a kid. Loved them even more now that I could read them all on a row. I didn't rush through them but I knew as soon as I was done with each of them, I could just move on to the next one.

They got so sick of people choking up the train station looking for Platform 9&3/4ths, that they created a little display out of the way with a trolley sticking out of a platform wall.

I disliked the books. :monster: Read through the first three books since there was so much hype though and I was patiently waiting for the books to "get good". When the intro of the fourth book didn't captivate me, same as the earlier three books, I quit. The movies are passable to me because it's easier to watch a movie than read a book.

...I'm not saying this to anger anyone. :wacky: It is what it is. I still feel sorry for the Harry Potter fans that the eighth book, "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child", was such a disappointment.

Hard to be excited when everything post-main series proved to be bland and uninspired. Wtf was that Cursed Child fanfiction garbage? I think calling it a fanfiction might even be a disservice.

There's always hope that something good will come out of this, I guess.

On reflection, the story feels kind of like the writer taking a shot at time travel fanfics that fix everything. Also, not written by Rowling. Interesting.

On summary, while it feels dumb, it doesn't sound bad, necessarily.
