Hello

vaderSW1

Dark Knight of the Red Wings
I have to say that I have been searching for an active Final Fantasy community for quite awhile. I am quite happy I stumbled upon this place. Not only does it seem this is quite an active Final Fantasy community but it is themed after my personal favorite Final Fantasy.

I am vaderSW1 and I have been a Final Fantasy fan pretty much from the time that Final Fantasy first hit US shores on the NES. I have played and completed nearly every game in the series (a few I am still working on playing through or just haven't had time to get to yet) and own almost all that have come to the US. In addition to owning a large amount of the games, I also own most, if not all, of the soundtracks and strategy guides.

I am a family man, I have a wife and 3 year old son. I cannot wait for my son to get old enough to where he and I can play through all of the Final Fantasy games together.

In addition to spending time with my family and playing Final Fantasy games, I very much enjoy watch sports such as the NFL, NBA, NCAA Basketball, and MLB. I have also been a vocalist in a few heavy metal bands. I also write quite a bit and am in the process of getting a Kickstarter campaign rolling for my first comic book.

I'm looking forward to interacting with you guys! This place is great.

Props on the awesome and loving introductory post. We hope your enjoyment of this place is maintained. =)

Joe, you can check out a bit about the forthcoming project on Facebook. Search for ShamComic. I would post a link but apparently I can't post it until I have 5 posts on the board.

Quick premise:
The media has created a lot of so-called icons. The Kardashians, Justin Bieber, Honey Boo-Boo, etc. My book is a tongue-in-cheek and sarcastic look at what happens with the world's first social media-created hero.

If the Kickstarter gets funded, the book will be published under my company, Onward Entertainment, LLC. It is being illustrated by the terrific Michael Touron.

I'm trying to finish up work on the video I'm putting together for the Kickstarter. Then I will be hiring a professional voice actor to do the voice over for the video. Then, I will be getting the Kickstarter up and running. There's going to be some very cool rewards for donating including t-shirts, original paintings, stickers, art cards, etc.

Found it, looks pretty cool! The artwork is fantastic by the way, do you do all of it yourself?

In what sense is the hero 'created' by social media? The short premise makes me think of Kickass, but that's obviously without knowing any of the real details.

Thanks for the compliments on the artwork. I will pass them to Mr. Touron. I am not the artist, unfortunately. I wish I had the kind of talent it takes to draw. I am, however, the creator and writer of the comic and it's characters.

I am trying not to give away too many details. :) Don't want to post too many story spoilers. I will say that it does not mirror Kickass. It's more of a case of a man that does the right thing and then is "made" into a hero through social media. There's more depth to it, of course, but I don't want to reveal too much more.

I cannot wait for my son to get old enough to where he and I can play through all of the Final Fantasy games together.

Which raises the important question: How old does a child need to be to play RPGs? I was playing simple video games when I was about three. I don't think I started playing RPGs until I was about 5 or 6 though :P. May have played them younger if I had access though.

Also, welcome :monster:.

The kiddo ain't too young to play FF now !

I let my little girl ride the chocobo in 13 when she was just 3 or 4.

And when I moved in with my boyfriend almost 3 years ago, I let her do the chocobo racing in 7 and she figured out how to fight and beat low level monsters.

For me, it's not a case of me feeling like the Final Fantasy games are too "mature" for him or anything. I want him to be old enough that he can read and really take in the stories. I want him to understand what's happening. I think he could be taught to do battles and stuff like that. He just wouldn't understand the story. For me, the story is the most important part of a Final Fantasy game.

Yeah, I mean he could certainly do some of the side quests and mini games. I want him to be able to understand the story though. I want him to be able to read and comprehend what is happening.

It would also be nice if he could help me level grind...:shifty:

Haha! Yeah, of course you want them to understand the story and what's going on, but at that age, kids just want to be able to participate in -some- way..

Letting them play now in some form or fashion at least shows them the game mechanics and, I'm sure, is good for their fine(?) motor skills in some way.
