Help get Aerith's Theme into ClassicFM's Hall of Fame!

Hey guys,

Classic FM currently doesn't play any video game music so there's a campaign going around now to get Aerith's Theme into it!

You can put 3 votes in but you have to add them manually. Click here to go to the voting page, then click on the "+" beside each voting box and vote away!

I put in for 3 Nobuo compositions (Aerith's Theme, To Zanarkand and One-Winged Angel).

Absolutely, so we should get everyone to vote!!! It really should be recognised anyway. Not just Uematsu, but other notable composers for video games... like Michael McCann, Jesper Kyd etc.

Because at least two of those don't fit the 'classical music' description, for one, . Also, 'better' is subjective.

True, but OWA is more popular than Aerith's theme, and is most certainly the most well-known song from VII, so I think it'd be a better choice.

Then why not main theme? It's more popular than Aerith's theme according to http://thelifestream.net/forums/showthread.php?t=10050(Flintlock counted), and is probably the best song to represent FFVII as a whole.

I voted for Main Theme But yeah, it was the campaign that did the trick for Aerith's Theme.

I guess it also kinda depends on what kind of music is usually played on that radio channel; somehow I don't think the big, bombastic fuck yeah epic music (like OWA) is played a lot.

Then again, classical music is hardcore.

I'd be interested to know why you consider OWA rock music? What is the difference between the two compositions that distinguishes them from each other in genre?

There are some (in my opinion) "bombastic fuck yeah epic music" on the list, like Holst's Planets (14th).

I don't really see why it couldn't have been One Winged Angel voted on that list, I just assume, that someone prefered Aerith's Theme and picked it instead.

I naturally assumed when thinking about OWA in consideration for this that the orchestral version would be used, in which case there's nothing "rock" about it at all.

Yeah and I think people forget that sometimes. But I thought people meant the original OWA was kind of rock?

hmmm i always thought of it as a sort of rock opera. Though maybe im thinking of more recent versions than the original. But it does have a more contemporary feel. I dont really know any classical music like it

Yeah I can understand that. There are a few elements in the orchestral version that are purely classical, but I can also see it being operatic. I just don't think there's anything rock about the song itself unless you're looking at the rock version used in AC.
