I think that this whole brutal gang rape thing is quite a stretch. The Honeybee Inn is in the slums, so I'm sure the women who work there are only doing so because they have no other options. I'm sure they're not ecstatic about having to sleep with a bunch of teenage virgins, but they're getting paid to do so. It's their job.
/has no real idea of how prostitution works
Coming from a country where prostitution is legal,
.
* Part of prostitution (a rather big chunk, actually) isn't exactly voluntary; there's women smuggled in and forced into prostitution from eastern Europe and Russia and the like (economically not very well-faring countries), and there's 'native' woman with boyfriends that buy them lots of expensive stuff and ease them into prostitution (
loverboys).
* Another part, the more romanticized ones, are just women (and men) doing it for a living; it pays well, and if you do it professionally it's not nearly as degrading as you'd think it would be. Plus, shy foreigners are funnay
. This is the romanticized type of prostituion, the free-willed, distinctive women doing it for a living, the weird bosses (that put rafts with pink elephants blowing fire), the police waving at 'em, etc. This was on its heydays in the 70's / 80's, iirc - along with huge amounts of crime in Amsterdam at the time, off course.
* And I guess there's a small portion that's just in it for the fucking. Nymphos etc. But I dunno, lol. I guess there is some overlap.
