How many of you have the ps1 or pc ff7?

Got mine in 2004. I think I got pretty lucky when I found it; found it at a local flea market for $7 sealed and mint condition. I wanted to play the before AC and really understand what was going on. I didn't realize the significance of the game 'til I started lookin around at prices.

Played on PC version first, then got a greatest hits later when I had a PS2.

Stopped playing for 6 months cause the chocobo race crashed for me and I didn't even think to just look up a patch for the longest time. Other than that though, didn't have anything glitchy that I recall.

I got the PC version back in 1999. Attempted to play it again three years ago but it crashed on XP and there wasn't any patch which worked :( A year later, a friend of my family brought me a second-hand copy from the USA, which I played with an emulator on my PC, and now I'm a happy fangirl :awesome:

Oh, I enjoyed more the PS1 version since the OWA theme had the voice choir.

On a side note, you guys talk about the "This guy are sick" line. The Spanish translation was no better. At Wutai, when Yuffie is complaining about old customs she yells in English: "CUSTOM, CUSTOM,CUSTOM!" Well, translators mistook that word for "Customer", and you had Yuffie yelling (exact re-translation from Spanish to English): "CLIENT, CLIENT, CLIENT!" which left me with the biggest WTF face in my gamer life :wacky: And it's just one example.

But I can't complain, Suikoden II's translation was much, much, much worse.

paoo, are you kidding?? Whoa. Just, whoa.

Oh, absolutely. I never meant the Spanish translation was good. If anything, it was WORSE, it's just that it's not nearly as famous :monster:

But it's bad. Of course, not to forget Tifa refering to himself as a man, right Glaurung?

When was that? I played it many years ago and my mind is kinda hazy. I could only remember what impressed me most :monster:

I've been searching on a script for the exact place, but couldn't find it... but, for you to understand what I mean... Yuffie did that, too :D

When you first meet her, the conversation would go like this, at one point:

-Cloud: ¡Espera un segundo!
-Yuffie: ¿Qué ocurre, todavía tienes algo para mí?
...Humm. ¿Es eso?
Sé que quieres mi ayuda. ¡Porque soy tan bueno!
¿Quieres que vaya contigo?
-Cloud: ..... Eso es.

Thing is that I recall Tifa saying something similar. Again, my mind's kinda hazy too, so I could be mixing stuff...

I guess my mind just switched off its grammar checker to avoid any further damage :monster:

Oh, haha! That was absolutely the right thing to do. I can't remember many specifics, but I do remember the grammar all along the game was... well, I'll just say "Wonderful"...!

or something. Spanish? Wuzzat?

Also, I'm very happy most games don't get translated to Dutch, and if they did, I wouldn't play them. It's just embarrassing, really, and not particularly because they're poorly translated (since afaik, they're not. Then again, when I see subtitles on TV sometimes (both official ones and unofficial ones for downloaded movies), I really wonder who put whoever translated that behind the controls. In fact, English subs fail too at times (since I can't understand half of what people say in movies, especially if they use some weird accent). I mean, they clearly say 'nacelles' in Star Trek, whoever translated it can't hear shit, because he subbed it as 'nossels'. dubyah tee eff. /rant)

My PC copy is still good. I just can't use my old computer anymore. PS1 version is just fine.

I got 5 copies all black label, 3 not opened. Lets just say, after I got my first copy when I was 11 on September 7th, when my Uncle worked at the mall, man I was happy to get it. Never knew what it really was. Just know I loved it after playing. Then my family noticed how much I loved it and just went out to buy it for me (which is why I have several copies). Locked in a safe now. I value them, even the one all scratched up and etc.

I've had mine since around 2004ish, it's a PS1 version~ the front of the case is cracked a bit because some asshat decided to step on it or something, but otherwise it's in perfect condition~

I cracked the box on my PS1 copy the night I got it!!:rage: We bought it at the store and then I had it in my coat pocket, and I was talking to someone and leaned on it.

...Ugh...

Awww. XD Well, at least the game still (hopefully) plays. It bothers me to no end when game cases are scratched/cracked/the plasticy stuff is all shitty and torn. And it's like impossible to fix tooooo. Which is one reason why I try to avoid buying used games. D:

The English version is just as bad... Who can forget "this guy are sick"? Or the Battle Square asking if you want to continue, with the option "off course"!

I have the PS version... I got it along with FFVIII, FFIX and MGS when I bought a PS secondhand off a mate's brother. £50 for the lot. And my only complaint is there's a scratch on FFVIII's second disc, at the point of
the fight of the Gardens
which always causes it to crash. Bargain.

I got the PS1 version, black box, but I might sell it and just download it off the PSN. I could make a nice profit, considering that I bought my copy used for $17 long before AC came about. After AC prices jumped. They've gone down now, though. Man I should have sold my copy when they were going for $100 on ebay. If only I had know it would come out on PSN. lol

I too have the PSX copy, sitting like a photograph on my mantle for all to behold... except no one comes to visit me normally. But, I still get to appreciate it there! While I opened it the day I got it and have, between myself and an ex-gf, beaten it five or six times using those three beloved discs, they are still in nearly perfect condition! I also got myself the PC version, largely so I could still play and enjoy the game when I got the urge without further wear and tear on the original discs.

Anyone else have issues with the chocobo breeding on the PC version? I cannot seem to get a blue on there, no matter what I do, where on the PSX it was hardly a struggle at all to get gold?
