Is Zack a mime?

Zack is a unique character in the Final Fantasy VII universe in that he is able to copy and adapt the Limit Breaks of other characters upon meeting them, and is thereafter able to perform those Limit Breaks as his own. The Crisis Core Complete Guide guide gives two examples of this - Zack adapting Healing Wave from Aerith's Healing Wind, and Meteor Shots from Cloud's Meteorain.[2] This is how Zack is able also to copy the signature attacks of Sephiroth and Genesis, Octaslash and Apocalypse. Zack's own innate Limit Break is Chain Slash, a quick sequence of five sword attacks

I know mimes aren't supposed to have innate abilities but

Maybe it's the Jenova cells in him? Maybe this is a SOLDIER ability?

^ Personally I think the DMW system is for plot purposes more than gameplay but I don't know other 1st classes that display mimicking abilities like Zack. And also, Zack didn't have Jenova cells as far as I know and even resisted it because his body is also in-tune with his Mako enhancements.

Every SOLDIER has J-cells. What differs is the amount. And it's canon everyone reacts with them differently. As Zack is a 1st Class SOLDIER, the only people who have more J-cells then him are Sephiroth, Genesis, and Angeal. Given that J-cells are the reason why Cloud copied Zack's mannerisms, I think you could make the case that the J-cells are part of the reason Zack can copy people's Limit Breaks to some degree. Only since he knows exactly who he is, he doesn't become that person.

Naw I always thought it was because of the DMW triggers, his memories triggered those powers and abilities..or perhaps in some way Zack was a blue mage (I think Blue Mage was the copy one...) or a grownup Gau!
