Fuck. :sadpanda: Slayer honestly haven't done anything good in a long time but this is still really shitty news. Their best material is genre-defining classics. :sadpanda:

Yeah, it's way too young.

Reign in Blood is one of the albums that got me into metal when I was younger. I suspect that if I hadn't been exposed to Slayer's music at such a young age I would never have gotten into some of the even heavier stuff I listen to now. Their first six releases are still close to peerless thrash.

Liver failure. Beer and Satan finally got the best of him.

Like every other kid I graduated to Slayer after Metallica, in my case around the time Dittohead was playing on Beavis and Butthead (yes I was a huge mainstream poser). Slayer is legendary for its rhythm guitar being even more difficult to play than the lead in many cases, and that is Hanneman's legacy.

Day ruined. One of the pillars of extreme metal and certainly one of the most influential guitar players on my taste in music... R.I.P.

I knew he was sick but this really did come out of nowhere. Damn. No need to say how much of an influence he had on his genre of musics.

R.I.P.

Gutted. I too was influenced at an early age by Slayer (dem Riffs!).
They hadnt really made anything spectacular in recent years but god damn could they still rock a festival.

They have been hinting at a new album for the last few years stating it would happen when Jeff got better which makes this all the more saddening. Sigh, I dont know what to think of this. All the best to his family and bandmates.

Sad day for metal. We're being left with less of the inspiring artists of that genre and more and more posers each time...
