Joss Whedon seems ready to do more Firefly if anyone calls him

I like the numerous nods to Firefly in Castle. Especially that
halloween episode where he dresses like a "space cowboy" and his daughter says "dad that was like 5 years ago, don't you think it's time to let it go?" and he says "Never!!"

Aha, I loved that. There's also
the time when Castle shoots a guy in the hand and says "I was aiming for his head!" And the time Castle suddenly sprouts off a bunch of Chinese thanks to 'a summer abroad', Martha's "You've never heard of the Serenity?" and you know what I should shut up now before I drown this thread in my Castle fangirlism.

It's totally made of win though, so enjoyable. Does it have some of the same writers or something? Castle actually seems like a Joss Whedon show. The main difference is the vast audience.

Nathan Fillion has said so many times he'd go back to Firefly in an instant. The whole cast say it was the best job they ever had. Imagine having that for such a short time when the creator has a 7 season plan for the series. Oh, what might have been.

Favorite episodes (in no particular order):

1. Jaynetown (because I actually really do like Jayne and Ben Edlund wrote it).
2. Out of Gas.
3. Objects in Space.
4. Heart of Gold (even though Inara broke my heart).
5. Serenity.
6. Our Mrs. Reynolds.

I like all the episodes, but these were some of the best, imo.

Nah, none of the writers are the same afaik. It's just Andrew W Marlowe/Terri Miller and their knack for finding awesome writers plus a willingness to make shoutouts to all of the actors' old roles.

Let go?? LET GO???

I think not. If Arrested Development can be resurrected, then Firefly can. Anything is possible, I say never stop wanting it. For a good series like firefly deserves better than it should've had.

4. Heart of Gold (even though Inara broke my heart).

Really sad part is that had the show continued, she probably wouldn't have left, and her and Mal wouldn't be stuck in that weird divorce-like state for all eternity.

Great episode nonetheless. "Say hi to daddy Jonah..."

Objects in Space, does that seem right to you? ;)
I loved the way Jubai & River seemed to mirror each other.

and as tragic as Serenity was i hate major retcons, even in the name of
Wash bb bawwww

Anything for Wash. Anything.

Out of Gas. Beautifully told episode. I like to pretend the show (and franchise) ended here.

The way Fox aired the episodes, you don't have to try hard. :monster:

I loved that episode too, by the way, and agree that it's a fitting end.

The only reason
Wash and Book were killed was because they wouldn't commit to all three movies in the planned trilogy. Joss had to write them out of the story to appease Universal and has said this publicly
. Fuck yes I would retcon that weak shit.

Huh, I was not aware of that. :monster: Nothing pisses me off like
characters getting written off
due to corporate bullshit, so in this case I would be much more okay with a retcon.

I love Joss Whedon. Reasons why are in that video. I remember one time watching Futurama and they poked fun at everyone going to Comiccon to see Joss Whedon. I felt like a total geek. But I love him anyway.

Found a video of it on YouTube. I also love Futurama.

That's the eorst possible reason for
killing off any character, but especially Wash. Though I will confess that "Float Out" made the hurt a little less by revealing Zoe was pregnant with a little Washling.

Wash and Zoe were happily and functionally married. In a universe created by Joss Whedon. Something terrible was bound to happen to one or both of them eventually, I'd just rather it have been later rather than sooner.

Sorry if I sounded like I was directing that at you. :monster: Of course there's nothing wrong with preferring plot integrity. The amount of executive meddling in this franchise just damages my calm. As does the fact that this cast had perfect chemistry and no weak links.

Of course Joss isn't known for long-lived happy characters either. The only untouchable ones were probably Mal and River. I assume Inara would have been the first to die off, as she was supposedly terminally ill. Or Simon, once River became more developed.

No worries, I didn't take it personally or anything :monster: Executive meddling is always extremely frustrating.

even though this is logical it still makes me massive sadface ;_______;

I know. :( Almost as gutwrenching as her and Mal not getting to have the greatest network television sex scene of of all time. Morena was an absolute goddess in that part, and so brilliant. Inara could have been easily ruined by a lesser actress without the right balance of warmth, sophistication and mystery.

God damn it, Fox, stop being assholes and at least sell the rights to a network who won't fuck this up if you won't bring it back yourselves.

I thought Joss said he was done with Firefly? :/

But you'd think that after the success of The Avengers the mainstream media would realize what a commodity Joss is and make it happen if he really wants it.

An animated series appeals far more to me than continuing the live-action tbh cause it lets them avoid any aging-actor issues (ie they could realistically continue the plot immediately where serenity left off)
