I didn't make the topic to ask "OH GAIZ DO U THENK DENZEL IS TEH NEW HERO??"

Seriously, a bunch of posters just jumped to that conclusion and interpreted it that way basing off of previous topics. I am just asking how these characters' experiences as young children might affect them as they grow older.

I don't give a fuck about what kind of adventures Denzel could handle in the future, I only wanted to know what kind of a personality he or Marlene or Moogle Girl (dunno it looks like she was given a more prominent role in ACC) might develop after going through some of the shit they've gone through, and growing in the places they grew up in.

It's more "what do you think they will be like?" than "will he/she be the next hero?!"

Years don't need to pass for their experiences to affect their personalities. They're kids, and thus are malleable as fuck.

Except that's what you implied in your later posts.

You didn't really do much to differentiate this from past threads man. You even argued in favor of him becoming a main character as opposed to a supporting role.

There is at least---AT LEAST---one more installment left in the Compilation after ACC and the novellas, and we can be pretty certain that the kids from FF7 and AC might play important roles in the future.

I misunderstood the first sentence in your initial post, then. Sorry.

I guess I didn't know you guys took "important role" for meaning "starring role" or "main hero". It's honestly not what I meant.

When I say important role, I simply mean it's a character that means something in the story, and isn't necessarily the character that the story revolves around. Some of you think Denzel was a minor character in AC, but I figure he is important, considering he got his fair share of coverage and is shown to be important to other important characters.

And the only reason I defended the possibility of his having a more centralized role does not mean it was the original intent of my creating this topic. I just don't think anyone can really say what things are possible or impossible at this point in the Compilation.

Nomura and pals have made it abundantly clear that they can do whatever they damn please with the characters and FF7's story, even if it goes against some of the things they established earlier or against the fandom's reasoning.

That's all, peoples.

Of course they're going to remain as a support group, as the people who give strength to Cloud and co. so yeah, they're important in that sense, and I don't see that changing.

Lol @ the resistance in this thread. The question posed was "What do you think Denzel and Marlene might be like when they grow up?" and the resounding answer here is "NO NO NO WE DON'T WANT THEM NO LIKEY CHANGE NEW STUFF SUCKS ARRRGG."

This in particular is quite ridiculous:

Dacon said:
how about they stay as they fucking are?
What, in Never-Never Land? Children grow up. As long as Gaia survives, that will happen, even if it's only hypothetical and never shown in the canon, so I don't see what the harm is in supposing what Denzel might be like when he grows up, which is an innevitability.

It's not like the OP said he's got a petition ready with over 9000 signatures for Denzel to be the new main character which SE is ready to honor if only you (all of you) entertain his question.

That said, I don't have an answer right now and I'll have to think about it. :monster: But I don't think that just because Reeve said, "No no, you be a good little boy and stay home away from the battle" means that he will never become a fighter. Clearly he wanted to.

Denzel, Marlene, and Moogle Girl will probably be friends growing up and I wouldn't doubt it if Denzel and Moogle Girl eventually got married. Seems like something that would happen within a video game/movie series, and it seems like Marlene would be more like a sister to him than a love interest. For the future, I think they'll live pretty normal lives if all goes well. That's what Cloud and everyone wanted, as stated. They'll grow up, get married (depending on the character), have/adopt kids, and life will go on. They'll tell stories of their parents/friends/parents' friends/ and the story will never die. And I guess Nanaki has some kids with Deneh (or whatever her name is). That's my guess.

But isn't that what every FF game ever did, have an ending that left us hanging for more?

The difference is that DoC's secret ending, as well as information we learned afterward, is almost like a promise for continuation. That, and the Compilation itself is a series of sequels, and DoC isn't a stand-alone FF. We know that Genesis was supposed to awaken when the Planet was close to imminent destruction. From CC, we've learned more about him and Weiss and Nero come to pick him up, foreshadowing later events. Genesis himself isn't such a bad character, just one that needs more growth and development. The creators have talked about future Compilation titles, and I doubt it will be another prequel (what character would they use? We learned a lot from CC, and it's pretty easy to guess what Seph's life was growing up). Even then, it's a cliché to have the main villain (Weiss) shown to be alive (or something) at the end because it leaves room for a sequel. Genesis is awake, Weiss is either alive or can be resurrected/used further, and Shalua may or may not be dead (didn't the crew talk about not knowing what to do with her later in an interview?).

There will probably be more novellas and maybe an OVA or two, but something like a movie or game will appear that keeps going.

I obviously meant they should stay in the roles they are in now, NOT OMG THEY NEVER GROW UP THINGS SHOULD NEVER CHANGE. I don't see why there's any need for them to change their story roles in a future title. And you're wrong, this is fiction they don't ever have to grow, unless the creators deem it necessary, so your argument is silly. They can stay kids forever if they want them to. It's only as much of an inevitability as what the creators want it to be.

Either way, I only meant that they should stay as they are for NOW. Not that they should stay kids forever.
That's fucking stupid. How that can be interpreted as anything else, I don't know. But hey, jumping to conclusions is fun.

We had a misunderstanding, and Anda straightened it out, end of story.
As far as the topic goes, I can see Denzel and Marlene become relief workers, and helping rebuild society and work towards a better future, and Marlene opening her own restaurant or store. Because the fact is, if Denzel becomes a SOLDIER he'll probably get himself killed.

Yeah, the children are gonna grow up, no one denied or resisted that (and I have no clue where you got that), but them growing up doesn't automatically make them credible in terms of main characters, or somehow capable of being badass warriors. It's still shoehorning Denzel into a Cloud clone, regardless. And really...with all the terrible shit they've seen, they haven't been in "Never-Never Land" at all....Unless Never-Never Land now has changed to include death, dead parents, poverty, threats to life and family, and lots of alcohol and sickness. :monster:

I could see Denzel learning a lot from Cloud and becoming his own man and a possible fighter, but considering the current situation and affairs with the storyline now, that's a long way from happening and again..this isn't some trans generational epic. Denzel is going to be living a normal life long before he becomes something like a fighter. Denzel's motivation to be a fighter was out of attonment. Barring some unforeseen catastrophe or event, I don't see any need arising for him to try to do the jobs the warriors who already exist, are doing. Same goes for Marlene. They can lend their hand in support, but the heroes are taking up the responsibility. They're fighting so they don't HAVE to.
