I know it works like that for the PS3/PSP/DS, but I thought that for the Wii and XBox360 were still region-locked (for everything on the Wii, and depending on the game for the XBox but still mostly locked).

...Quite possibly. Sorry, I only own the region-free consoles you mentioned. Maybe I was being too innocent and naive thinking that it was the status quo now.

I don't know why anyone else but mumble knows this. I found out you can at least buy bigger hard drives for it recently. It just means if it somehow breaks i'm fucked because the warranty is voided for opening up the system. Btw bigger hard drive space won't be used for games. Rather my pirated music collection.

Hm, not really. I upgraded my hard drive, and I made pretty damn sure I wouldn't void the warranty by opening the console up (EDIT: I mean compartment, refer to post below, I was being unclear and irresponsible - sorry). Sony just won't cover your new HDD if it fails, or your console if it turns out you screwed up while replacing it.

Oh right it has that removable plate where the HDD is. And it's easy enough to replace a HDD since it's just the same as a laptop one anyway.

I'll laugh if this does happen. However, surely the general public aren't that stupid...? Ah. They voted for George W Bush and Tony Blair more than once. Of course they are.

helloooo. PS3 follower + semi 360 yo. and I've checked it as a small project for college once on the video game industry business. The warranty is also void if you break it while installing bigger hard drives for yourself and not by the official dealer afaik, then again, it's common knowledge so forget that

I wanna try adding ubuntu for the lulz if the fat PS3 is still available.

I'll laugh too, I mean there's no point in modding a 360 really, the process these days are painfully risky compared to the PS2, Xbox, Gamecube eras. It's just that the value of the games are ridiculously high for us PS3, 360 and wiiiiiiiiiiiii owners, shit is not cash.

edit: roflmao at the article. 50+ customers chose PS3 over 360 because of a simple download. what the hell parents?

I had ubuntu, it was too glitchy and stopped on the boot up screen after a while.
