Great Old One
I mean, they're still made... somewhat? Although 2020's YouTube music videos isn't quite what it was back in the 80's and 90's (and 'naughties'). A lot of respectable movie directors started out as music video directors and it was a big deal back in the day.
The inspiration for making this thread is I binge watched Randy and Janet Jacksons documentary about Janet Jackson's career, which made me put on a playlist on YouTube, and I saw a music video I'd never seen before in my life (even for watching a dead ton of MTV in the early to mid 90's), and I just fell in love with the aesthetics completely. Didn't know if it was a new video or a very old - the song gave some hints, but it wasn't until Janet showed up with her young Janet face and that extreme side part that I knew it was an 80's song. Anyway... I just love it. For a starter.
