New content for western release.

I just read that interview that Final Fantasy Union did with Director Takeshi Arakawa and Producer Yoshinori Kitase about the new content for Dissidia's western release. Apparently there will be new abilities for characters and some new cameos from characters that didn't appear in the Japanese version. I just wanted to hear everyone's thoughts on this. What new abilities would you like to see and who would you like to see make an appearance? I'm still mulling it over, so maybe after a few replies I could add my input as well.

I reckon new cameos will be some of the fems that the guys are all worried about? but that's the fangirl in me. Hopefully someone interesting will appear.. do they mean cameos in just story mode, or battleable too?

I don't think you'll be able to use them in battle. From the interview, I understand that they will appear in events. So they'd only be in story mode. I'd like to see some of the girls make an appearance too.

They'd have to spend months developing / adding a new character and balancing it and whatnot, so yeah, I doubt they'd add an 'official' playable character. They might do one for fun, but I don't think it'd be balanced and whatnot.

If they do add a playable character, it'll be Kain, who was very nearly one, anyone else would be too much.

But I still would like Tifa, Laguna, and Gilgamesh to be playable.

They aren't making a new playable character because it'd throw off the thematic balance of equal heroes and villains. They'd have to make TWO playable characters.

o.O" If they were going to add/change characters, it would be probably similar to Shantotto or Gabranth, with unlockable "hidden" characters.

i'm more excited about having a rational reason why it took so long for the game to be localized, and if it's with gameplay improvements I'm not going to complain. Having played that Japanese version, I'll be interested to see how they balance characters.

Gilgamesh would have been pretty epic to see. But doesn't he come in different versions in each game? Which would they use?

Probably his FFV version.

But...everyone's forgetting that Gilgamesh is a summon. He definitely wouldn't appear as a playable character since he can't be two things at once.

Yeah, in FFXII, Gilgamesh was an elite mark. But that Gilgamesh is the same as FFV's. In fact, every Gilgamesh you meet in Final Fantasy is the same one from FFV. They're all the same person. He's crossing dimensions, appearing in each FF.

OH, Gilgamesh makes an appearance in Dissidia already as a summon? Oh okay, then yeah he can't do both.

Also, I haven't really played the other/older FF's so I wasn't aware. He did look particularly badass. The only difference with the one in XII is that he had all the previous heroes swords an shit.

Well, like Mako said, it's doubtful that there's gonna be any new playable characters. Just some new cameos. But I think I'm in agreement with a few of you on here that Kain should definately make an appearance in one way or another. I say they should add Quina too

I would like Aerith to make an appearence in dissidia, assisting the goddess or something along those lines would be fitting. I think being able to play as Tifa would be good, there arent enough playable female character options but I'd probably end up mincing around as Sephiroth anyway lol.

Again, Ultros is already in the game. He's a summon. He can't be in two places at once like Gilgamesh.
