@Dacon: Could be shitty video quality in the trailer? Everything looks slightly pixelated to me, even the rendered stuff.

And I've never seen either of these in their entirety so there was lots of new stuff for me.

Maybe, but it's not really the jaggy quality that bothers me. You can still make out the characters and everything out perfectly fine.

The graphics just aren't that further ahead of what we have now. I'm looking for higher resolutions of the videos now.

Versus does look amazing. Not as concerned with XIII. I have a few friends with PS3s so perhaps I'll get to play it/watch someone play it. Or maybe someday I'll have the money to burn for my own.

Here lies the problem IMO. The graphics are better than anything see so far. It's not TONS better than anything seen so far, but it still is. People are so hard on graphics these days that if the next game doesnt look 50 times better than one that just came out a little while ago then it is seen as not impressive.

Personally, both of them look really good and they seem to have completely different feels to them, which is good, even though there will be the same people coming out saying that every FF game is the same as the last one

No, no it isn't. Not at all. Lost Odyssey looks just as good, so do several other games. If it's pushing the envelope in any way it's in art direction.

Except XIII and Versus DO look 50 times better than XII. I only comment on the graphics because such a big deal is made about them, when it's obviously not chief among people's concerns about the game.

@ XIII: Harp playing lady is pretty. Summon monster/thing coming out of disc was very Monster Rancher. And did I just see Sephiroth? o_O

@ Versus: Not gonna lie, looks much more intriguing than XIII. Not digging Noctis' shoes in formal wear. The walking to car scene WAS in slow motion, lol.
The trailer for Versus gave me a very Baz Luhrman "Romeo+Juliet" vibe, for those of you who have seen that movie.

I don't quite get that vibe. Maybe it's the lack of color.

I guess I just have the movie on my mind, plus the Shakespeare references Mostly reminded because of big dramatic music+big dramatic text, like in the opening scenes of the film. Though I'm sure that applies to hundreds of other things.

And the music in Versus... epic. The only thing is its dystopian feeling that I'm getting, but I guess that's already intended.

Versus is definitely modern, but I can't quite tell if FFXIII is futuristic or just all magic-powered.

I know the games are in the same universe but are otherwise largely unrelated, are the time periods supposed to be vastly separated or just elsewhere in the world or something?
