New Idea

One specifically for this section. How do you lot feel about doing some poetry analysis? We would basically post one poem(a published work) a week, analyze it line by line and talk about it. I suppose you guys can PM me suggestions of poems and/or writers, and I'll make a thread for it. Aye?

Aye, I might be up for that.

I'd be down. :) I have a couple poetry books myself. :)

Speaking of books, I think it would be fun if this site had like a book club, where we all read one book a month and then discuss it.

I'd personally be more inclined for the book club idea. Or just general book-specific threads, for that matter. It would be neat to set up a list of books that should be discussed at one point.

Maybe both? I have a huge book my man gave me of Edgar Allen Poe's poems and stories. I'd love to take some quotes and such.

I think my brother's got that one too (or at least a similar one). I don't know anything about the dude, but his name appears so often like everywhere, I am becoming curious, :monster:.

I really dig this idea, it's pretty awsome actually :monster:

and that's coming from someone who generally doesn't dig poems too much :P

I'd do the book reading club too, so long as the book gets decided at the start of the month whilst I still have money :monster:

Yes. This. This will be good practice, imho.

How about a graphic novel? Watchmen should be good, :monster:.

Speaking of, I've put that on my wishlist, meaning I might go buy it once wicba.

This would have been good practice if I hadn't just finished that part of my course :monster:

But it would still be interesting. So aye :monster:

I already did a topic on 1984, which encouraged some good discussion, I think. But that topic has died down a bit, and I'm pretty sure all has been said about that.

With current development, Watchmen would be a good choice. I've only started reading it yesterday (finished episode 3 today), and there's plenty of stuff to be discussed in there - the 'comic within a comic' (pirates or whatnot) that relates to the story of the novel, for example. And many more.

Other than that, I have this awesome book on computer organization, processor architecture, memory management, multi-threading, and the odd smart remark by the author (stuff like funeral cards with music and whatnot). It'd be awesome to discuss all that, :monster:. But I doubt there's many people that would read that, :monster:.

Other than that, I haven't read much recently. I started reading The Children of Hurin, which I could probably fill a few paragraphs about already (mainly in terms of the writing style up until now), but I dunno if that would be suitable.

I guess Watchmen would be most reasonable, given its current popularity.

Also, someone gave me The Children of Hurin as a gift, so we should definitely use that later.

Excellent. I'll be able to discuss it as I go along, instead of after a while and forgetting half the nuances and whatnot.
