I remember when my sister got her Nintendo 64. I think I was four at the time. God time flies.

Yeah, my concept of the passage of time seems very skewed. I still think of the 90's as being 10 years ago, lol

Me too! It's actually terrifying how fast time goes.

I remember coming home from school the day we got the N64 and playing the shit out of Mario. Dad made us hotdogs.

And I remember Dad playing the shit out of Turok too, we laughed at the crotch cam.

Good times :sadpanda:

I could have sworn I was about 9 or 10 years old when this console came out but infact I was only 5! I feel older now.

Thanks.

I never had one, but, my cousins did and Mario64 was overwhelming because z0mg graphics!1oen. I / we got hyped to shit with Zelda OoT though, even if we did (had to?) go the pauper way and try to get it running on an emulator on a 350 MHz CPU. My friend managed pretty well, I spent an afternoon trying to download the 26 MB rom file, eventually managing to get it to run at like 3 frames per second.

In retrospect, an actual N64 with the game would've been cheaper than the PC we tried to run it on, :wacky:. But, the PC was multifunctional.

I remember Pokemon Stadium being the first Nintendo 64 game I've ever played. Then it was Super Smash Bros which my sister and I played almost all the time. Then I used to watch her play Super Mario 64(the first mario game I've ever seen, to be honest), and then the Legend of Zelda; Ocarina of Time. Oh yes, and then I used to play Pokemon Snap and Mario Golf(the first one).

Welcome to my world, guys. It's pretty because as we're all growing up, times becomes faster and faster and it's really scary.

Your welcome. To be honest, since the Nintendo 64 console beloged to my sister, before she moved out, a next door neighbor actually gave up his Nintendo 64 Console and a golf game and gave to me for free, which came as an actual surprise before I moved out. Still, it was nice of him and I like golf games(I have a Disney Golf game for my PS2, actually).

Yeah, it's too bad consoles don't last long. I actually heard that Final Fantasy VII(for PS1) was in competition with Mario64 when the former first came out 19 years ago.

We were a Playstation family. The evolution was pretty subtle.

My folks had an NES from the time when I was about 7 years old (my first game evar was Zelda II: The Adventure of Link), then during that same year my brother borrowed his friends SNES and a bunch of his games including my first Final Fantasy - Final Fantasy III (VI).

Through various means we somehow managed to have an SNES and a Sega Genesis for a while meaning I got both the joys of Donkey Kong Country, A Link To The Past, Illusion of Gaia AND Sonic The Hedgehog 1-3. When we moved down to Virginia Chris kept what was now his SNES and we had the Genesis until at some point I think it was my older sister got a Playstation with a paycheck from her job. We had the Demo Disk pack-in and mostly played that for ages (along with a few other demo disks we got from magazines and the Pizza Hut Promotion Disks). I think the first proper Playstation game we bought was Spyro The Dragon.

However one of our friends, who in retrospect was a total skeevy jerk, happened to have an N64. We would cluster around his living room to watch him play (and occasionally play ourselves) Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64 and Pokemon Snap. The only two games we could reliably expect to play there was GoldenEye and Pokemon Stadium, albeit we always used the rental Pokemon. We didn't own our own N64 until probably a couple years later, immediately before getting the PS2 if memory serves, and we had Super Mario 64, Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Star Wars: Episode I Racer (which was the bomb by the way).

I remember when we got the N64.

It was after I had the FFVII pc port and although I liked games before, this made me obsessed. After that someone let me play Breath of Fire III on their playstation and I was like, holy shit, this playstation things is pretty fucking great. I, with the combined efforts of my siblings, begged my mom for a playstation, practically harassed her into getting it.

She came back with a Nintendo 64. Said they were out of playstations at the PX. I was devastated, there was no Final Fantasy on the Nintendo 64!

Turned out it was a okay because Mario 64 was really fun and OoT came not too long after it. I played the crap out of it.

What a fucking lame origin story. Anyway the point is, I loved the N64 and Holy shit it's been twenty years/

I got the N64 for my 14th birthday one year after launch. I was still a Nintendo fanboy back then, but I had gotten a PlayStation the year before for Christmas. Turns out the N64 was the last Nintendo console I've had. My favorite exclusive for that game is Star Fox 64.

I've probably shared this before, but I'd probably be posting on a Zelda forum rather than a Final Fantasy forum if my brother and I had chosen an N64 instead of a PS1 as a Christmas present back in 1996. We wanted one, but made a last-minute decision (quite literally in the store when our grandma asked which console to buy) to go for a PS1 instead. I still have no idea why. It was a good choice though, for many reasons, one being that my best friend for much of my childhood had an N64 so I still got to play or see the best Nintendo games.
