Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee - New 'n' Tasty

So, I don't know if anyone else here has been following the development of New 'n' Tasty, a remake of Abe's Oddyssee, but it's getting close to release time by the looks of it and I am immensely excited. Here's the most recent trailer for the game and it looks fantastic:

The difficulty was something fierce. Apparently one of the new features in the remake is the ability to set difficulty levels. No idea how it'll effect gameplay, less sligs on easier modes maybe? I dunno. Still, excitement!

I remember a friend lent me his playstation for a week and I played the crap out of this game. Might be the first PS game I ever played actually.

The graphics look fantastic in the above trailer. Do want.

The graphics in the original were pretty sweet too, especially the cutscenes. Some fantastic CGI for its time. The game had a great atmosphere.

Its good to see Lorne Lanning back in the game. After Strangers Wrath bombed due to EA's shitty advertisements (read:none) it really broke him.

Just Add Water did great work porting over Strangers Wrath and Munch to PS3 and it looks like there going to nail it again with this one.

Stranger's Wrath HD was the biz. And Lorne's a really intelligent dude, big proponent of independent development these days after the EA fiasco. His interviews and lectures on the industry are very interesting and informative

Oddworld is neat, its like you have to think and measure what to do next, you can chant on guards to control them, and you can choose different paths on what to do next.

Anyone here play "Stranger's Wrath"? It was the last of the Oddworld games. Was on the PC, and the original Xbox. It was very different from the earlier games. More of a platformer with some FPS elements. Not sure how it is meant to fit into the same world as the other games, but it is supposed be the same world/universe.

I've played the HD version they put out on PS3 and PC. Stranger's a fantastic game, great characters and quirky, sometimes dark humour. The Clakkerz had some great lines - "I heard he's so bad because he weren't breastfed"

It's set in the same world, apparently it's just on the western part of the continent that Abe's games take place in. They were originally going to create a quintology of Oddworld games, with each new game in the quintology adding a new hero. Abe's Oddysee, Munch's Oddyssee and Stranger's Wrath are the three quintology games, with Exoddus being a sort of bonus one. Apparently they're looking in to continuing it somewhere down the line, wouldn't say no to a game featuring Stranger and Abe working together.

That is an interesting idea.

I wonder if the other games would have kept up with changing the gameplay style with each new protagonist.

OMG am really really really really looking forward to this, i still have a copy of the ps1 version (working condison)! this game is amazing and really cant wait for this HD remake lol.

Oh are they remaking the second one that came after this? i still have a orginal copy of that game too lol

I like the genre of game that was Abe's Oddysee. The second game was disappointing for me, as it covered old ground more so than expanded into new territory, imo. I didn't buy the others. As with other HD remakes that come out, I'm not really fussed in getting it.

When I heard about this new version, my first thought was the graphics. I'm sure the gameplay still holds up, because it was a very clever game, but somehow the PS1's graphics seemed a perfect fit for its dark, grimy atmosphere, and I was wondering if that would be lost. It doesn't look like it has been; the graphics look great, like a more intriguing version of LittleBigPlanet. I'd like to play this, especially if I can turn down the difficulty for my first play-through
