Okay I'm currently playing FFVIII

VIII was my Star Wars, I still wear a Lion Pendant today so you're just going to get a very biased review from me.
Glad you get it though, the experience is better than the control/overall battle system (this doesn't include the monsters). The parade scene was a killer back in the day.

My copy is actually four eboots rather than one big file. This is how I played FFVII too but it worked out perfectly and switched discs without a home button.

If all things fail, I might have to download another copy and start the whole thing again U_U The save files are inside the eboots so I can't really use the saved data to other copies.

How did you manage to switch discs without the home button? If it's 4 seperate eboots that means each disc boots seperately so there's no need to switch discs. I'm confused about why you're getting the wrong disc error now :s.

And are you sure the saves are stored in the eboots? I suppose since each disc has it's own code it might store them in seperate folders. If that's the case here's a solution - plug your PSP into the PC, locate the Disc 1 save and copy paste it into the disc 2 save folder. If the disc code is attached to the save file just rename it and you should be good to go :)

Okay thanks! I'm currently locating the folders but they have confusing names so I'll just tell the progress later okay? :>

The folders for the discs should be named as follows:

SLUS-00892 - Disc 1
SLUS-00908 - Disc 2
SLUS-00909 - Disc 3
SLUS-00910 - Disc 4

If there's only a folder in the save directory for Disc 1 you might have to make a folder for disc 2 and call is SLUS-00908 and put the save in there :)

Worth noting, any missable "draw GF" that you don't get in any particular chapter can be re-obtained in Ultimecia's Castle in Disc 4.

Though that kinda defeats the purpose of getting said GF.

Also to quote Kefka again: I see a POSER! :arr:

You know I vowed that when I graduate and get I job I'm gonna buy all those games. Think of it as "play first, pay later." :awesome:

No seriously, I will. I can buy one every month once I start working ^_^

I've seen people say before after such great characters as Terra, Celes, Aerith and Tifa how did they come up with Rinoa?, like the unholy love child of Aerith and Tifa that takes some of their traits, exaggarates them and makes a mess of it :P

I usually have no beef with characters wanting to be heroines but being stubborn about getting help and still being rescued, I have no problems usually with helping out heroines who have already done something for themselves or put themselves in trouble/danger to help/save someone else and end up needing some extra bodies to help them with the situation like Tifa going to a dangerous place like the Wall Market/Don's to try and get some information about what was going to happen to Sector 7 or Aerith given herself up to Shinra for Marlene's sake/to protect Marlene, I wouldn't have minded if it was an occassion/s like this where Rinoa had to be helped out once or twice but honestly with her it felt like
a half dozen times
and by the end I was like oh god game stop hitting me with the DiD hammer, I get it already :smashedmonster: Thank god it did on
disc 4!

^^The entire FFVIII cast is an oddball compared to the casts of the other FFs. Most of the other casts are serious, while the FFVIII cast really isn't until the endgame. Given that Ulti is one of the more powerful FF protagonists, the FFVIII cast is probably one of the more powerful casts... My FFVIII lineup had Rinoa as the main damage-dealer, Squall switching between damage and support and Irvine as support.

*coughemulator* Hey, I own a playstation, I bought the game- more than one version. I just can't get the original consoles to work >___> Also I have a turbo button.

I'm actually trying a new game after I beat VI again, but I don't want to start until I find something online that can help me win triple triad.

Since when has Ulti been a protagonist?

It might be days before I can resume playing since I need to revise my thesis again. Before I forget to say this, my OTP so far in the game is Selphie x Irvine haha

I really like Squinoa but I just don't like Rinoa so far haha

And yes I find Rinoa to be useful and usually my party is Squall (magic mostly) Zell (physical attack/support) and Rinoa (offense). As for characters okay here are my thoughts so far:

Selphie is cute and fun and she and Zell can be siblings but that's everything about them so far. Quistis is... well I dunno I can't find anything to make me emotionally attached to her. Irvine is kinda cool but it's funny how he chickened out to the last moment in Edea's parade.

In FFVII usually each party member has his or her own arc to explain his motivations and his story. Barret with Dyne, Aerith with Cetra, Tifa with Nibelheim, Red XIII with Seto, Cid with his rocket, Cait Sith with Shinra, Vincent with Lucrecia and Yuffie with Wutai. I wanted something similar with FFVIII but don't spoil me. Maybe they will explain other characters maybe not. I'll just see.

And relating to the LTD I find the argument Aerith is a white mage like Rinoa is to Squall canonz omgosh

LOL Rinoa is like my main magic caster and she deals the highest damage in my party and she doesn't even use a staff. Her weapon is the only one I have modified so far and it's pretty strong. My healer is Squall or Zell. Her limit break is even an offensive type.

Yuna and Garnet are summoners so yeah, there is not really a pattern of white mage-main hero pairing in FF. :/

I don't think you get to see anything like a "backstory" for the SEED people until Trabia (I've mentioned this before but GFs have a huge impact on Memories and stuff).

Also, it doesn't help that Rinoa has incompetent people like Zone working for her.

I like the fact you can backtrack to Dollet later on though. "Dance of the Balamb Fish" was actually one of my fave songs for some reason.

Also, another cool thing to try...stock up on Scan Magic. You can mess with the monsters in a controllable Camera and look at the models.

According to one of my friends, the Dehling Zombie imposter (I forget its name) was censored in the U.S. version due to gore color issues.

Welllll. Some theories seem to think Ultimecia is just the future self of a certain party member :monster:
edit:
Though now that I think about it... I think it was debunked by square. Not totally sure anymore lol.

FFVIII is definitely a FF where it makes more sense the second time you play it. There are a lot of "aha" moments the second time around.

In terms of raw stats before you start junctioning, Rinoa has the highest STR and MAG stats in the entire main party. Everything else is slightly below average. So as far as stats go, she better at attacking then Squall is, but takes slightly more damage then he does. So she isn't just a mage, she's a physical attacker as well. And if you think her current limit break is a damage dealer...

I had talked myself into wanting FF8 for the community playthrough, as its been so long and thought it'd be nice to use the tricks people that could be assed with that game. Not that I'm not enjoying 9 (it's a better game, after all). And apparently 10 will be the next playthrough so...

(Also you should get a ps3 :))

Fixxed. How dare you leave out Cloud!

And Danseru, I have to say, I feel the exact same way about Quistis. Tbh, she was my least favorite party member.

OMG how can you hate on poor Quisty!

She's hawt...and she's soft-spoken. She's just trying to do her job.

AND she has a sexy outfit and uses a whip!

Last but not least she can learn a Blue Magic Limit Break that exceeds the 9999 damage limit...on par with Eden!

The folders have no save files in them, only some icon, and NV something files. I copied the Disc 1 stuff all inside disc 2 and put in inside a folder but nothing has happened.

But let me see again

It's been a while since I properly looked at it, so I could be wrong. I'm pretty sure it's the saves themselves that are named like that, so you'd have to rename the save "SLUS-00892" to "SLUS-00908" to get the second eboot to recognise it.
