Okay I'm now playing FFVI

I was playing FFVIII when my PSP became uncooperative, I decided I will put it on hold until I get a proper console.

So 30 minutes into the game

- I got Terra killed by the lightning snail
- I got Locke killed in the rescue-Terra-with-Moogles fight
- After Figaro castle I accidentally dismounted my chocobo

I suck hahaha

Story is interesting and the old graphics don't really bother me, I have a strong imagination and it always works wonders.

I can say I project myself to Terra right now, I love having those two dashing guys protecting me and thinking I'm special :3 :3 :3

YAY great choice of game! VI was my first FF and I'm still very fond of it.

You have a lot of cool characters to meet, and a lot of touching story moments.

The Lightning snail killed me too XD

What system you playing it on? FF6 has been ported quite a bit.

Using the PSP eboot, I think it's the 1999 version because of the 3D animations at the opening

Sounds right. The PS1 version was pretty good. Touched up the translation a little in that version too.

I'm currently playing FFVI too though i'm currently in the middle of completing all sidequests before I take on Kefka's tower :D

It's an awesome game and I love how every character has their own individual story chapter to essentially complete.

Hmmm, I personally like the GBA version the best but the PS1 version's pretty good, too. I recommend playing both versions. I wouldn't bother with the SNES version though since it's basically the PS1 version without the FMVs and with a slightly worse translation.

Me too. It has a glitch in combat that I love. Sometime character for no reason get a second free turn, no sure what causes this. More than once this glitch has been very beneficial for me. The GBA version of 4 also has this glitch, but it doesn't seem to be in 5 oddly enough.

The only glitch in the original SNES I remember is that the game freezes when Relm uses Sketch on certain monsters >_> Not very beneficial.

2 hours into the game

-reached South Figaro and bought stuff
- I've equipped Edgar with Sprint Shoes (shortens time!) and the True Hero/Knight I think which protects his teammates
- I found Shadow at the bar... he doesn't join me yet I think
- Went to the mountains to find Sabin
- those mammoths are hard to deal with and I hate being poisoned (walking saps your life sooooooo much)
- I have no problem with the boss battle with Vargas but when it comes to Sabin I can't perform the Blitz command properly, I dunno what's wrong. I've been dead twice.

After choosinf Blitz you need to push left right left then attack.

I've been doing that but maybe because my analog is broken the input is wrong. But don't worry, I can get over it. I finished 97% of KH BBS with my analog broken and I managed (finishing the ice cream game was hell.) :monster:

2:40 minutes into the game

-defeated Vargas, I was able to do the Blitz command by luck
- Sabin's damage is huuuuugeee, I always do the beam because it's the least complicated
- Went to the hideout
- Now whitewater rafting!

Ultros <3 I loved him so much (and of course hated him equally) when I played VI.

Also I forgot to say about the Sprint Shoes - I tried to get so many of them I could from very early on

Meant to say a very handy thing to do and a lot of people use it to grind quickly is that raft area is really good for early levelling as it's an endless stream of battles if you keep looping to the left and Banon can heal your characters without using up MP, I used it this time around to bring Terra, Edgar and Sabin up to level 20 quickly...although if you're fighting Ultros, chances are you've saved just after that loop section.

You know what else is awesome about VI, it's the only one where the characters fully interact during scripted segments on the battle screen, in other FF instalments you just get the script at the top of the screen but not movement as such, it really adds to the feels of the scene when you can see the characters interacting properly in the middle of a battle.

Correction: Put everyone in the back row. Terra should be using magic, Edgar should be using tools, Sabin should be using blitzes, Banon should be using Health/Prayer. Just don't have Terra use Fire on Ultros; he responds with Tentacles.

I got stuck at that fight the first time I played too.

I will say that while it's tempting to use the Lethe River to level up your characters, doing so means you miss out on Esper stat bonuses later. Of course, you don't really need them to beat Kefka, but they probably help with some of the optional bosses in the Advance version.

I've only ever done the Lethe river levelling grind myself once and only to get my characters up a few levels to make certain bosses easier, I'd never do the whole level 99 thing because the stat boosts are too good to miss out on, I think FFVI can be quite hard in certain parts though so it doesn't hurt to do some earlier levelling to help yourself out a bit.

Thanks for the tips guys but I managed to but Ultros after two other tries. I think I need to grind more I managed to finish the rafting part at the lvl 14's only, for some reason I was lucky with choosing the directions. I've chosen Locke's story so far and I get caught a few times hahaha. Stealing the merchant's clothes over and over again is annoying and hilarious. Now I've met Celes and we're on our way exiting South Figaro.

Okay 4 hours into the game

- I've finished Locke's South Figaro quest, haha I feel shippy with his interactions with Celes
- Sabin's story is a bit difficult in a sense that I have no healer but it's okay, bought more Sprint Shoes and found Shadow
- I like Shadow's dog, it's so handy :monster:
- LOL at the Doberman at the military camp
- Kefka's such a troll
- I honestly felt so sorry when Cyan's family died
