Well, we had intended to weigh the positive votes against the negative votes, not as a direct +/- scale, but to see who would be less objectionable as a moderator according to the whole forum.

If two people had scored an 8, for example, but one was all positives and ambivalents, and the other was 16 positive and 8 negatives, the two would not be 'equal,' since the latter was more divisive overall.

Largely, this was entirely irrelevant, given the way the votes swung.
